Lee and Elaine Beal, owners of Kayak Guatemala, said the yoga group Nancy Ng was with "didn't say a word" to them after the excursion and left their hotel about 12 hours later. READ MORE: abc7.com/nancy-ng-missing-mon...
It's possible the kayak company didn't maintain their kayaks and the witness is traumatized, but it's also suspicious the woman is too traumatized to talk, but wasn't too traumatized to get back to her hotel and the airport and then an international flight and then home.
@@JSB1TV "The kayak company is at fault they told them to leave" Where did they say the kayak company told them to leave? The people being interviewed are literally the owners of the kayak company. They were not paid and were surprised the group just left
The police can't interrogate someone until there is an arrest. To arrest someone, you must have some kind of proof someone has committed a crime. Being a witness is not a crime, and he/she is not required to talk to the police. The only thing you can do is to apply pressure on the witness to speak.
you don't need to interrogate them, i can speak for them. 9 of them went on kayak and came back fine, nancy didn't come back with them. she probably drowned since she was not wearing life vest. need to know anything else?
@ThomasOsaki it was flatwater, nice weather. How would she fall out? If she did, nobody heard her cry for help? Nobody helped her. When u paddle, don't people stay close , u don't paddle far from the group. Sound suspicious to just abandon her and the search
Oh you know those yoga types. One moment it’s just meditating. Then it’s chanting some eldritch verses. Then it’s letting goats climb on your back and pooping down your buttcrack. What’s next? Sacrificing a chosen one to being behind the veil of Nirvana? Who knows? The paths to spiritualism are rife with mysteries.
This is the kind of story that makes me so mad. No honesty, no accountability, only hiding and cowardice. Be responsible adults and come forward with what happened to Nancy. Do it for her, for her family. I hope the US and Guatemalan authorities collaborate swiftly and hope they track down the group.
She got out of the kayak and started swimming alone, her group said. Likely a basic drowning with no foul play. That is a peaceful area with little crime.
They were not given life jackets it seems by the video. They should have!! Lake atitlan is known to be deep and have currents and its the rainy season.
Yoga for fitness is great. Yoga, the national and international organizations, and the gurus are sketchy. I would even count some of the instructors, too, who want to do more "work" with the students beyond just leading the workouts.
@@travelswithminky246 It is a huge deep lake and I believe there are things in there that would eat a dead body, human or animal. Also there’s all kinds of trees and rocks and things like that underwater where a body might get stuck and never surface. It’s terribly sad. One of the news reports I saw said that she told the person she was with she wanted to go for a swim
@@superipodmanvik Nothing crazy just large fish and normal aquatic life and animals that would eat any dead thing in the water. So she likely drowned and then just nature tickets course and stuff ate her. And there are dead trees and rocks underwater which can entangle someone who is swimming or injure them if they run into a rock or something like that.
So the group left 12 hours after the accident but they didn’t report her missing for 24 hours!… so they waited until after the got back to the US then to report her missing. That’s messed up.
The kayak company is speaking 3 WEEKS after the disappearance ? Even though they admit they didn’t see her come back? And that the others left the country? And they refer to the other girl as the SURVIVOR - they’re knowingly talking about Nancy like she’s dead. They are also liable for not providing safety jackets. Everyone here is guilty. I went to High school with Nancy. And although we never stayed in touch, she was always such a kind person who was always smiling. My heart goes to the family.
I caught that too..why would they say survivor unless they know something happen to Nancy? That was like a big give away. What’s done in dark will always come to light
Extremely unusual for the only witness to go silent. Once she is located by authorities, she will have some very serious questions to answer. It would be helpful to know if the missing lady was a good swimmer.
its over for that group, suspicion grows larger and now we have this company reporting its absolutely terrible, ugh sending so much love n positivity to the family
This type of drowning and/or near drowning on a boater who falls off kayak happens more often than most people could ever imagine. Once you row kayak for an hour or so then deciding to go for a swim then getting back on the kayak is nearly impossible for already exhausted people or even fit person will hard time climbing back onboard the kayak unless trained with correct technique. i have eye witnessed two incidents as what I’m describing in Galveston island.
Actually if u listen to the reporting, 8 group members retuned. Not friends. There were two left in the distance. She may have fallen as they struggled to return to shore. The other woman may be so traumatized that she can’t speak yet. The last two women should have stayed w the group and followed directions. They all would have come back together the 10 of them. Why keep going to explore when they were there as a group. Bad choice to keep going. RIP
If you can't swim, when your feet can't touch the bottom a person in the water is at risk of drowning. I had a large swimming pool in my home and almost had a young teenager float over to the deep end and when she couldn't touch the bottom she started to panic. What I remembered most was the look of death in her face. I had to jump in and get her the shallow end.
???? If something happens to a foreigner here in the US, our police handle it. Their embassy/ govt might be notified, etc, but its here in the US that its investigated and handled. The police in Guatamala need to do their jobs. They never do, like the rest of Latin America.
huh? you make it sound like we would all jump out of the kayak and rescue someone who is drowning. maybe that person doesn't know how to swim? it's shady to not speak about it to authorities, but in America where we are highly litigious you can't blame them for keeping quiet until they can't stay quiet.
It is just obvious that this lady attorney that was with her had something to do with her disappearance, and the whole kayak group conspired on her disappearance, which they pretended to be a regular kayak excursion! It’s suspicious that the group is clamoring up and the witness who last saw her are really not saying nothing
The whole story is suspicious. As an owner of a rental company I'd say is a popular excursion. I would be questioning immediately the whereabouts of the person on MY kayak would be? Seems odd, doesn't it? Not to mention you let the person leave the country who was the last person seen with her? I feel as if everyone involved here knows something, including the owners interviewed.
The yoga types I meet are usually full of themselves and have the "answers to the questions" and think THEY are the centre of the Universe, all knowing all seeing. I guess manning up and taking responsibility is all talk, and they can't do the walk.
Why were they not wearing life vests? Why did no one try to go rescue her from the water? Why did no one say anything, or reported her missing? Why did the leave the country right away? And the person who was with her and saw what happened is refusing to say anything? 😢 this case is so devastating, and there’s no answers, which is really frustrating.
yes. No life jackets. I guess to control of who went in the water and if they came back. Live who reported them? If a client doesn't come back did they report it ? Do they have emergency contact for people that go in the water! So many things!
Why would someone go kayaking without a life jacket? Especially at a lake … not a pond. And why would she want to jump in the middle of the lake instead of somewhere closer to the shore… even for a swim..
Highly unlikely that the witness is too traumatized to talk. People's default setting is to help. But people's default setting can also be to lie or hide when fearing consequences. This could indicate that they may share responsibility for what happened and they are terrified at the idea of being imprisoned in a foreign country. Most people think that going to prison is terrible and they think it's even worse to go to prison in a developing country. My guess is that they all took a psychedelics drug as part of the experience and she had an accidental overdose or adverse reaction that made her unconscious and fell off the kayak and her body quickly disappeared in the water. I'm speculating here but it wouldn't be unusual for a group at yoga retreat to consume some type of psychedelics drug in order to have some sort of a spiritual healing trip; a lot of these people are into these topics and peer pressure could al have played a role. No one knows the source of those drugs and what the right dose is or if it could interfere with other Rx's in her system, etc. If she had suddenly collapsed and drowned there would be absolutely no reason to hide an obvious accidental drowning. My guess is that they are all refusing to cooperate with authorities because they were all participating in consuming an illegal substance. Why else would all the people involved refuse to participate? Because they are all terrified to go to prison in Guatemala. They are hoping enough time goes by to erase any evidence. But if my theory is correct; one day eventually one of them will crack under the pressure of guilt and will come clean to clear their conscious after they secured legal council and were certain that they wouldn't go to prison in Guatemala.
This is very strange that this happened on a yoga retreat and they’re not saying anything…… Sounds like they’re hiding something and he truth will come out……There’s no way they will all stay silent….. right now the group is probably very emotional and the text messages and phone calls will be revealing….. mean girls……I feel badly for her parents, I’m praying for her safe return……
It’s COMMON SENSE that the TOUR GROUP saw something and knows what happened to NANCY…leaving without saying anything to ANYONE has ABSOLUTE GUILT all over this SITUATION. Sorry 😢 for your “loss” to her anxious family. 🤦🏻♀️🕊️🇺🇸
Definitely strange.. people can drown in calm water, maybe she couldnt swim and fell off her Kayak.. but its odd the person with her wasnt able to assist her with her own Kayak.. only the person that was with her knows what happened.
Those people in the tour & the tour guide are guilty of being silent. I hope they live with the guilt of having a hand in her disappearance & that they carry the guilt until the day they die. They don't need to go to Yoga retreat. They need to go to prison.
It’s super suspicious to not say anything and leave 12 hours laters and according to many other reports they didn’t report her missing for 24 hours… if it was a drowning accident and no one did anything wrong then why run away and not report it for 24 hours. Maybe the group could be held accountable for not making everyone wear life jackets? I just don’t understand why not report or and then not cooperate if it was nothing other than an accident
This gives me the same creepy feeling as the silence from witnesses of the Cameron Robbins incident. There are so many people who saw what a happened and they just swept it under the rug.
Perhaps they are not speaking yet because they are looking for a lawyer first. If I were the survivor, I would want a lawyer first as well. You never know if the police or family just want someone to blame for the death.
Right...so you don't alert the authorities and quickly leave the country. And somehow, it makes sense to you. Some intense soul searching is definitely in order.
Different country different threats different reactions and fears. She and the other woman chose to not follow the rules and go exploring whole the other 8 returned to shore. Sad but one survived, one likely fell off and drowned rushing trying to get back. The other woman who survived may have been to scared to jump in to save her. She was a group member, not her friend. Scary.. She must be traumatized and owe nobody nothing. Hope that it all resolves for her family
In her single paddling clip, you can tell she held the paddle in the wrong direction. No safety measure, no prior instructions for big crossing?? The water seemed calm so if capsized it would be easy to recover with help, especially with a sit-on-top kayak. Fishy!
That's horrible that woman that was out there on the kayak with her needs to be brought to Justice! more law enforcement needs to get involved and bring her in for an interview! detectives need to investigate maybe the FBI since it's International. I don't know but something is not right
The group new,,she was gone,,thats why the left,,,but even the kayak company,,dont they count how many humans are back,,i mean,,they saw 10 people going into the lake,,then they notice only 9 back,,and what happen to the kayak,,they say they call them next morning about the money,,what??,,is like going on six flags ride with 10 people,,and only 9 makes it back,,and they just said next,,
uhh, no. six flags roller coasters require safety devices to be equipped when riding. kayaking requires common sense by the user to decide if wearing a life vest makes sense.
When you go to another country and do risky things don't expect your demise to be that important to them. Once you leave the United States you are on your own.
This Kayak Company should be put out of business and banned from doing business there. They obviously don't care about what happened to this young woman other than getting paid. It also seems very suspicious that the witness is refusing to speak to anyone other than an attorney.
The yoga group needs to be investigated. The Kayak company is not at fault or guilty of any wrongdoing. Plus, they are in another country which has their own regulations about safety.
@@lisad56 maybe so but regardless of what country or rules they are in or follow, it’s just common sense to provide a life jacket to their customers and also the conditions in the lake were choppy that day. Therefore they should not be trusted!
A theory could be that the group of kayakers wanted to do a initiation/hazing and the group all agree on that one person to take Nancy out farther and make her swim back. They all felt responsible and felt there could be legal action against them all for agreeing to this conduct. Hence why the all went back to the US immediately and lawyered up.
This isn't Greek Life in college, this is a private yoga retreat with group activities. The only thing I can think of is substance use (some of these yoga retreats have medicine ceremonies, ayahuasca is popular).
You obviously don't know lake atitlan. Its not a north american drunken spring break place. Its know for alternative living and holistic living. Do you like travel any ? At all ? Lake atitlan is know for meditation and vegetarian people. Why is it you think everyone was from the US? Dude like do you live in a bubble?
She was with a group that packed up and left the country without this missing member of their group??? Well, the group has some explaining to do...and should be considered suspect.
Seriously. What percentage of “expert yoga people” you’ve met in your life are focused, pragmatic , non-flaky individuals? In my case, very small. Just highly flexible (bodies), and seem to have lots of opinions They can’t back up, if challenged. and God help the server of any “conventional” restaurant you happen to accompany them to.
United States she have been required to wear a flotation device in order to rent a boat. She does not seem to have one on in the photos. Where is it? Was it provided?
I have been at that lake manny times , I used to go to a spiritual retreat twice a year , that lake is well known for something call “milkshake” a lot of people have disappeared right there , the milkshake is a swirl that makes the boats spin very fast , people is throwing into the water and for some reason bodies disappear and never found , there’s a fog that emerges from the water and natives stop activities including fishing and they stay away from water …. Last time I was there , our boat got a mechanic issue and stop working , natives were literally crying and begging for help before the “milkshake” hour , they pay someone to come against his will to come the help us … that is not a regular lake lake the one you know in California …. There’s a native call Salomon , (he’s an old man) a native from the village that some way how knows were to look for a body when disappear , he can be find next to a church called “palabra miel “ …. Prayers for the family …..
Very scary to be insight of others yet go missing. Somthing very fishy going on here. I wonder of lifevests are required when going kayaking in Guatemala.
