Kayak Fishing For Peacock Bass And More!!🎣

Those aren't DIY, they are BAW. As in bought at Walmart. LOL. And they work. Off camera I decided to try one out and it floated. They look a little goofy but saves me from losing expensive gear.

The wind seems to be my biggest enemy right now. But I also have a very light kayak. Im working with what I got tho and loving it!

I am certain it is only a matter of time until get a LMB in the boat. Seems a few people were rooting for that guy to hose me down! LOL. But yeah, he turned out to be a noice guy. I sat there talking to him for a little bit. He really enjoys the fish in that lake.

I thought I was getting hosed by that dude for sure. He was walking with a purpose! I was talking with him for a while and he really enjoys looking at the fish while they eat and noticing the differences between them. Works for me too. I would like to do more kayak videos. Unfortunately, not all my trips out have been video worthy. Mostly 1 fish trips. But I keep at it!

Thanks man! Glad you liked it. Yeah them snakehead can be a pain sometimes. More so in a kayak. They like to death roll and flop around. They are the main reason I haven't thrown treble hooks in the kayak yet.

While I miss catching bass, those peacocks are always a great surprise!

Thanks Paul! That was the best day iv'e had on the water in a while. I have never caught so many peacock back as I have this year. They have been all over the place. Not that I mind, they are beautiful and put up a heck of a fight. I was mainly throwing a Donkey tail soft plastic on one of my jig heads. I love those paddle tails. Made by MULE Fishing. Highly recommend. They are small, but the peacock seem to love them. The next day I was bank fishing for a bit. 3rd cast, got a bass on a Zman Gremlin. So it's only a matter of time until I get one in the yak. Thanks as always bro!

Cool, I was looking at those gremlins. They look very interesting. Have you tried any of the small Zman paddletails? The last descent bass I caught was on one of those Zman micro finesse shad fryz on a small underspin. I was ultralight fishing for panfish so it was quite a surprise.

@@Paul_T82 I like the gremlin so far. Omnia had them on sale a couple of weeks ago. I fished it pegged with a 3/0 ewg. Worked great. 4/0 was just a little big. The smallest zman paddle tail I have are the minnowz. I use them a lot actually. Probably second to the Gambler little EZ. UL bass are always a nice surprise.

You might like the Zman Swimmin' Trout Trick. They are 3.5 inches and kick pretty well.

I think I have a pack of those. Came in a MB box I think. Hard to keep track sometimes. Not sure I ever fished them. @@Paul_T82

That must be true but it's weird since they are pretty much all connected. Thats cool tho. I really like fighting the peacock so now I know a good spot!

And man did it change! Came down in buckets! Snakeheads are delicious actually. A flakey white meat with no "fishy" flavor to them. I eat them every once in a while too. But that particular lake is surrounded by homes and the chemical runoff from the lawns is very obvious.Probably ok, but not sure I want to eat from it. Thanks Jim!

Thanks Joe! I have been trying to find the right placement for the cameras. Everyone seems to like this set up. Yeah the toothy ones hit different in the kayak too. Not as much room between me and the teeth. But so far, I've come away unscathed. lol I really dont have much info about the lake. It is deeper than I usually fish tho. I am considering a cheap depth finder to see what kind of structure I'm fishing. I have to be careful in that spot. Being a residential lake, it has irrigation pipes and god knows what else running through it. I would hate to mess up someones property. In fact, the first snakehead I caught, thats what happened. I was stuck in an irrigation set up. Thats why I paddled out of it and kept looking behind me to check for damage. I was sticking to the shallows mainly for the shade. I love my GoPros, but they dont like the sun much. At least the 10 (3rd person) doesn't. Overheated twice on me while the 8 (POV) never did. Yeah he was a nice guy. I think once he realized I wasn't trying to eat his fish, he was all good with it. lol. Thanks as always Joe! Glad you enjoyed it! I know I did! Been a while since I got on some good ones.

I want to make it again but the canals are pretty nasty these days. Not sure I want to eat out of them.
