Kayak Fishing Locations for Beginners - Point Wilson & Avalon Beach Phillip Bay
In this short video we reveal the best location to launch your kayak from at Point Wilson & Avalon Beach. Point Wilson is located at the most far northern part of Corio Bay in Melbourne Victoria.
We will also discuss car parking arrangements, facilities, types of species that frequent the area and how to catch them with the right baits. We will cover the best soft plastics to use whilst fishing around this area. However, there is some great weed beds which are the home of some big flathead and King George Whiting.
This video is the second in a video series of location to launch your kayak from around Port Phillip Bay. Stay to the end of the video to find out where our next location will be? If you have any suggestions to where you would like us to review next comment below.

Thanks buddy, I’m trying to make these videos from the perspective of if the angler has never been to the location, so they know what to expect. For example I’ve never fished Rickets, and never go there because I don’t know what to expect. That is what inspired me to do our latest video series on locations. If you have any other ideas you’d like to see in the next video, please let me know. Cheers Rob

I fish there a lot, so yes for sure and this will be my next video. Whiting and squid. Check out some of my older videos I have footage of session there but not in-depth of how / where to fish it.

Great video. I am very keen to get into kayak fishing but lack confidence and knowledge of where to launch from and find good fishing spots. Thanks heaps for sharing your knowledge!
@hookinmouthtackle8508

No worries Simon, a good starting point is kayaking in a lake of some kind or even a river, until you find your feet. Then have a crack at the bay. The bay can be dangerous if you go out in the wrong conditions. Learning about safety and wind directions is important. I might do a safety video in the coming months if that would be helpful for people? Cheers and thanks for watching 👍

Thanks for the awesome feedback. 👍 I guess it depends on what you’re targeting on the day, to which spot to fish. But for sure the most consistent spot is just to the right hand side of the green channel marker , for KGW anyway. All in all a great spot to fish. Thanks again and really appreciate the sub 😁

Great informative little video. I have a couple of comments that could enhance it further. When driving around the ramps it was a bit fast to watch, it whizzed by a bit to quick. With the hook and bait suggestions, it could be more complete to see what rod and reel you would suggest. Many thanks for all your effort. Kayak fishing is the best!

Espen thanks for watching and the feedback is greatly appreciated 😀 I use a 1DFR 6’6 rod by savage gear combined with a 2000 sized shimanno reel, loaded with 12pb mono, for KGW. Next video I’ll be sure to add rod and reel specs, thanks again 👍

Hi Benvousaime, thanks for watching buddy! Yes Blackrock & Beaumaris, is a great suggestion, and luckily one of my closest friends is a local seafaring angler of that area, he has over 40 years of fishing experience of that part of the bay. I definitely will be hitting him up for some tips to share. So stay tuned for that instalment.The best way to ensure you don't miss out on that video will be to subscribe. (If you haven't already) Thanks mate really appreciate the suggestion and comment. Cheers Rob

Thanks buddy, I have a few videos which demonstrate how to catch different species, I’ve tried to keep them separate so these videos about location are short and sharp. But I will add a little fishing action on the next video 😜 I’m working on one for Altona. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-twFwGQ35QdQ.html

crystal clear presentation.. great verbal & visual information...I'm tempted to buy a kayak & give it a go.. I'd need some preliminary safety tips etc as I've never fished from one. Any chance of a "suggested" safety look for beginners?

great vid. what month do you recommend chasing snapper at the channel markers off avalon beach? cheers
@hookinmouthtackle8508
@hookinmouthtackle8508 3 года назад
Corio bay is one of the best for catching snapper in the cooler months, having said that, the best times are definitely in alignment with snapper season, September through to Christmas and then late February through to April. They do seem to come on the chew prior to snapper season in this spot. Thanks for watching 👍

Hey Rob, great video thanks. Felt a bit seasick during your circle driving, should have had my tablet before watching. 1.5km seems a long way to paddle? Is Avalon boat ramp a safer place to park your car?
@hookinmouthtackle8508
@hookinmouthtackle8508 3 года назад
Funny as, maybe I should give a warning ⚠️ at start of video about my circle work 😂. Yeah 1.5k is a good paddle. There are weed beds closer in, which are still pretty productive, but I find that extra paddle is worth the effort. Thanks for watching Davo much appreciated. Cheers Rob
