Went out for the COVID opener at Pyramid Lake Nevada, the lake still has the white out bloom going on so the fish were holding tight to the bottom in 50 to 140 feet of water, still had a blast fishing this amazing fishery.
Dope Video man, I want to get ready for a trip this February. If you don't mind sharing little knowledge, What are some tackle rod and reel setups you recommend. Thanks in advance.....
I’m fishing a 7’5” Gloomis that’s rated 6-12 with a 3000 Stradic and Vanford with 30 pound Super Slick V2 in Onyx with 15 to 20 pound leader fishing 1 and 2 oz jigs they aren’t line shy
@@ChiefGamboa Thank you for the quick reply. Im used to SO CAL trout and sierras. So definitely want to offer the best presentation and have the gear bring them in. Much appreciated Brotha...
@@jso275 lightest I’d fish is 8 pound any medium light to medium rod you’ll need a reel that can hold at least 150 yards of 20 to 30 pound spectra when you hook a big one you’ll need it. Good luck. Tight Lines
@@po3014 spey rod does mostly only spey casting - think of the big loops, roll casts and underhand fly casts. Switch rods can cast overhead as well as spey cast, so a fast action switch rod would be - good for chucking heavy shooting heads into the wind at pyramid.
Bright lures on sunny days. Dark lures on overcast days. Jigging from a boat like in this video works well. I use a small shot with feather jig. Remember to use barbless hooks and there is a slot for keepers. I have heard from friends who fish there the fishing has been real good this winter.
