We spent some time with the kids during Fall Break fishing for Smallmouth Bass on the Collins River in Middle Tennessee. What a beautiful place to spend a few days. We had a great time fishing.

this is why I'm subscribed to fluke and not the "view crew" guys. he knows what it's all about. I have learned so much from his channel that otherwise I wouldn't know, so thank you gene for giving up so much time, effort and info for people like us who want to learn rather than watch pointless videos. keep doing what your doing and I'll keep watching.

Who is "view crew" ?
@baseballdad746
@baseballdad746 8 лет назад
I think he means the group who refers to themselves as "The Googan Squad." LunkersTV, Jon B., APBassin, Andrew Flair, and 1Rod1Reel. A lot of their videos are actually pretty enjoyable. They do a lot of vlogs (traveling, eating, touristy type stuff) in addition to fishing videos. There have been some hard feelings between Gene and this group of guys (really just Lunkers and 1Rod) so a lot of folks are unsubscribing from one side or the other, and comments are going back and forth to all these channels about the situation. It's a shame, because there's room for everyone as long as they can keep it respectful and professional, but some things have been said/done that are going to require an apology, and that has yet to happen. I hope they get it all worked out. Gene posted a video explaining his side of things and asking for a truce, but Lunkers/1Rod have yet to do the same, so the fanbases are still pretty divided. Could be fixed pretty quickly if everyone can set their egos aside.
@nevaehsworld8534
@nevaehsworld8534 8 лет назад
mainly I'm just referring to the 2 guys involved. I just said view crew for those of us that know what happened from the first video and genes video yesterday. Just wanting to show gene some support. I think him, glen, tactical, lfg, mikeyballz, Scott martin and some others do a great job of keeping it focused on what fishing is all about. There is a place for everyone and instead of dogging out people who put themselves out there for the world to judge and who i dont know, I'd rather let the guys who I enjoy know that I do.

Hey idk how often you go to the Collins River but if you go back (or anyone reading this goes) there's a really neat cave you should explore, it'll be on the left hand side of the river headed toward the VFW from the mouth of the river. It's quite a ways down the river, idk exactly how far but id say around 2/3 - 3/4 of the way to the VFW from the mouth. You need a good flashlight and extra clothes because you will get clay on them. Also watch out for the bats. Have fun!

Good stuff. I just started bass fishing this summer, inspired largely by your videos, which I stumbled upon while looking at catfish stuff for my son. Mainly smallmouth fishing around here, with decent current. Caught a few here and there on a spinnerbait, and then finally this past week I caught my first two fish on a Ned Rig. Hoping that learning how to fish it successfully will translate to other soft plastics. Question: Is there a big difference between fishing a ned rig vs. a shakeyhead?
@Flukemaster
@Flukemaster 8 лет назад
There is a technique of fishing the Ned Rig that is just like a shakeyhead but the Ned Rig can be fished a lot of different ways. I've got a good video about that somewhere on my channel.

hey bud. I personally have better luck with a small shakey head rig than a ned rig. ned rigs arfe okay for numbers: about 10-20 5"-9" smallies. but with a shakey head (I like to use the strike king dreamshot for my shakey heads) I catch about 2-4, 2-4lbers.

actually I dont care about yesterday's video I only watched about half of it and continued back to work. Either or gene I get why you deleted the video. people (children) will make death threats and try to put you down like the comments below. but when it comes to maturity and being professional you take this seriously. I'm sure those other kids down have sponsors like you do. especially for not fishing at a tournament stand point! keep up the good work gene and I'm glad you're keeping it professional then socially bashing someone. keep it up gene! from a bass fisherman from canada!!

How did you manage the logistics of putting in the kayaks and getting them back out? 2 vehicles? Did you have someone transport you? My wife and I just bought our first kayaks. Hitting the lake is easy. We are wanting to do a creek trip. I'm not keen on leaving the kayaks unattended. Help?!
@Flukemaster
@Flukemaster 8 лет назад
On this trip we paddled up stream for as far as they could handle and then drifted back to the ramp. Drift trips are usually a little more complicated. Drop a car off at the take out point and drive the second car with the kayaks to the ramp. Go fishing. When you get to the pick up point someone stays with the boats as the other drives back to the ramp to get the transport car and comes back to get the boats. Then drive back to the ramp to get the other car. Sounds exhausting but it's never as bad as it sounds.
@TXDanielM
@TXDanielM 8 лет назад
Flukemaster That's about what I figured. The only other time I did a river trip was as a teenager with the Boy Scouts. We got transported up river to our starting point and paddled down stream back to our camp.

Gene described a 3-person solution. If it's going to just be you and your wife, you'll need both vehicles to be transport capable.
