Good to see a demo by a big dude. So many of these feature light, wiry people with relatively little body mass to lift. Bigger people can really have to work at stuff like this.
I recently moved to Charleston, South Carolina from the rocky mountain west, and got hooked on Kayaking! Been taking this basic safety and rescue class the last couple months, this information is so useful!!!
Rescues work nice and flat water where you should not have tipped over in the first place. It's a whole different story if your caught in 2 to 4 foot waves. A good reason to travel in pairs as team rescues are much easier to affect. After you get in the boat you need to be able to pump the water out and if waves are breaking over the top that's a bit tricky while you're trying to put the spray skirt on
Damn thank you so much i learnt so much today I got rescued by the fire department because I decided to take my kayak far far out into the open waters without checking the weather forecast because originally the weather was great, but on my way back shit hit the fan and the waves were going higher in my boat and I didn’t flip but my kayaks slowly started to fill until it flipped itself and caps like capsized i guess i dont know im still new to it but its something I always remember loved doing as a child and I finally got one of my own after liked 17 years give or take. But yeah the waves were so strong and my kayaks Is 12.5’ Dagger and the fkn thing was so heavy because of the water it was full to the max and i really wasn’t sure what to do! Tho i had a near death experience it hasn’t scared me away from doing what I love. It’s definitely a passion kayaking. You get a good workout from it and the peace of mind. I want to get really good at this sort of thing my goal is to eventually kayak all across Canada and I’m trying to get into good shape again to the army, so yeah I want to learn as much as I can. I am liking and subscribing moral of the story the story THANK YOU 🙏
Yikes! That's a scary experience! Glad it worked out, and that it didn't turn you off kayaking. Very cool adventure you have in mind... paddling across Canada would be epic!! Cheers!
@@PaddleTVi definitely need that i dont think my Kayak is a Sea Kayak tho its Called 12.5’ Dagger it has a lot of space but its already heavy before it even gets into the water you have any tips for other kayak types? I was definitely love go kayaking some day into the ocean as well also i would love to go, Whitewater kayaking, one day down the rapids, but I know I’m just a paddlewon and I got a lot to learn still
I live in an area where it's pretty much each to his or her own. Everyone has their own private bubble going on, and newcomers are not welcome. The area I live in also has a problem with ppl who have brown skin. So, yeah I go alone. I do stay close to the shoreline esp in unfamiliar waters.
Take out the reference to the skin color and that’s what we all experience as human beings. There’s a reason unfamiliar people are known as “strangers“.
He starts off by saying , paddling alone is never a great idea . Really? Well that depends on a lot of things . Mostly what i do , so took a little exception to that. Other wise pretty good video .
I agree about the roll but the guy doing the roll demo really has his head way way to high. He is a big guy and maybe his flexibility is poor so thats the best he can do but maybe show someone who can keep low and not be so dependent on the paddle too roll.
I’ve taking up solo sea Kayaking because I’m a very suicidal person that doesn’t have the balls to do it, so I’ll let the sea have me😁 just wants to hurry up...
