Thank you Nick! I suppose it might seem as though I'm a bit biased, but I've looked at everything out there and I can't agree more. This is awesome. It blew me away when I first tested it even. Have a great day Nick :)
Hi Pierce, something could if you are in heavy brush, but then you could also use some kind of material, tape, velcro strips etc. to pin it down close to the hull/wall to deal with that if this were a concern. It would be quite easy. I was moving through a lot of reeds this summer on a lake during one of the days, just exploring, and I never experienced any snags. Also, the transducer did bump other kayaks when we "parked" on an island, but the 15mm magnetic mount was so strong, it did not come off. It's truly an amazing product and solution on so many levels.
I know ppl are wondering about this products build and stability and quality. Well it's great. I just got mine in the mail. Figured i give a small company with a great idea a try and I'm glad i did! I got the 15mm and it its strong. I know for a fact your transducer is going nowhere with these magnets! Goodbye duct seal! Haha. Wade, thanks for coming up with this mount its awesome!
I like the fact that you don't have to use glue or screws but are you really sure that this Mount won't fall off in the water and you lose everything cuz I'm planning to get it and I'm just wondering if I go bu some brush or maybe hit something with it will it usually come off
Hi Nolan, Thank you for helping us part the clouds of skepticism my friend. We just gotta let people know how wicked - awesome this little magnetic transducer mount really is :) Thanks again Nolan!
AWESOOME idea, does the magnet have an adverse affect on the transducer in any way? I have a sit in kayak, Ascend A10 looking to get a Lowrance Elite 3X.
Thank you for your compliments. No the magnet does not affect the transducer signal in the slightest. Thank you for the sub. I've subbed you back - Cheers :)
Hello. No, there's no interference from the magnets affecting the transducer signal or it's performance. If you check out our channel under "floattubefanatics" there is a kayak performance video, along with other performance videos. Hope this helps :)
Thanks Bullets :) No, absolutely no interference. We wouldn't be selling and making these if this were the case. Yes there is a video on our channel showing it in action on the water. I'm not sure how to share that to you, but if I do not find a way, just check our channel and search through there. There's some recent kayak vids. Should be one of those. Cheers. Wade.
Hi, I have a Pelican Intruder 12, which is a Jon Boat style boat made out of a RamX material which is some kind of plastic I suppose. It is not solid, as I think it has some sort of foam or something in the wall. Will the stronger 15mm magnet work on it? Thanks.
Hi Dan, not on this boat in the way that I show in the video. I would suggest you purchase our 10mm model and glue the inside half to the outside of your boat, and then each time you venture out on you boat, just stick the other side on (with your transducer attached of course). The 10mm is here: www.fishfindermounts.com/#!product/prd1/2801838031/10mm-magnetic-transducer-mount-kit
+Crap Shack Gaming Hi CSG, we will certainly work towards that end. By the way, for a short time we have put a 10% discount code onto our website. Use it when you check out to get 10% off any of our products :)
No Jose, you should look at our pole arm transducer mount here instead for your application - here: www.fishfindermounts.com/product-page/transducer-clamping-pole-arm-mount
great idea! but toward the end of the video when the wing nut was put on it looked as if the magnet slid a little.. kinda throws a red flag up for me as far as durability and strongness of the magnet. i do like the idea though of the no drill and no glue.
+edawolf3000 Yes, our fishfinder mounts are entirely universal, and will work perfectly well with the Garmin 5 DV transducer :) We have entire kayak fish finder mounting kits available for purchase here at this link: www.fishfindermounts.com/#!kayak-mounts/c16gk and if you just want the 15mm magnetic transducer mount as shown in this video, you may purchase that here: www.fishfindermounts.com/#!product/prd1/2801834021/15mm-magnetic-transducer-mount-kit
@ Float Tube Fanatics. How strong is that Magnet? I am down here in Florida and I am going to be installing a fish finder soon, and does saltwater effect the magnet in any way? Please let me know.
HI Mark, the magnet is extremely strong - and works extremely well on all kayaks. No the saltwater doesn't adversely affect the performance of the mount. We have other videos on our RU-vid channel here that show you the mount on the kayak in the water. Maybe subscribe to our channel as we regularly release new videos. I hope that helps you Mark :)
what is the difference between 10mm and 15mm? performance wise or just thicker? is the 15mm stronger holding on kayak? i want to get one today and hopefully it wont take long to ship to California USA
Hi Joseph, the 15mm model has close to double the holding/clamping power. This model is necessary for the thicker walls on plastic kayak hulls. It should take 5-7 business days to get to you; and we will ship within 1 or 2 business days upon receipt of your order. Thanks for your kind interest Joseph :)
Evan Will Hi Evan, the 15mm is the only one we'd recommend for kayak applications as the plastic hull material tends to be fairly thick. The 15mm is about double the clamping power of the 10mm model. The 10mm is great for small aluminum Jon Boats where you have fairly thin aluminum walls. It takes about 5-7 days to get it to California shipping out of Canada. I hope that helps you Evan :) Wade
+Miles Harrelson Hi Miles, yes it does fit perfectly. Here's the purchase link: www.fishfindermounts.com/#!product/prd1/2801834021/15mm-magnetic-transducer-mount-kit We've recently brought the price of this mount down a few dollars to $79.85 I hope that helps you Miles :)
+Float Tube Fanatics & Fish Finder Mounts .com yes!! extremely helpful! probably be purchasing this mount asap. best idea I've seen for mounting a transducer without drilling holes in the kayak
Yes, it will certainly install and work great on your Native Watercraft kayak :) You need the 15mm model for kayaks here: www.fishfindermounts.com/#!product/prd1/2801834021/15mm-magnetic-transducer-mount-kit
Hi Beek Buster, I understand your concern, but this is not an issue with any of our customers or in our product testing. Thanks for your comments Beek Buster.
okay I have a confession to make for my last comment like I said great idea but it didn't work for me just found out that I had ordered the wrong magnet. I do want to add it works great on my float Tube it also works great on my friends aluminum boat which I didn't think it would. I gave it to him as a gift because it worked so well on his boat I ended up with ram mounts and their transducer Mount system for The Kayaks. ¨The product is very well made and I guess I should've ordered the correct magnet so not the fault of the manufacturer I just wanted to set this straight.
+Paul Faria Paul, thank you. Yes, you should have purchased the 15mm here: www.fishfindermounts.com/#!product/prd1/2801834021/15mm-magnetic-transducer-mount-kit for your kayaks - it works very well in that application. Thank you for your kind honesty, and setting the record straight. I didn't publish your first comment, as it wasn't an accurate statement anyhow :)
Got mine in the mail quickly and as advertised about a week ago. Will be trying it out for the first time soon but I can already say it was super simple to install and has a good hold wherever the user wants it to be.
Yes it will; in fact all the Helix fish finders will; and we have hundreds of customers with this fish finder and others in the same series using our mounts - of course this includes all of our magnetic transducer mount models.
kyoo choe HI Kyoo Choe, it holds awesome in open water and rough water. You need not fear it coming off if you install and use it correctly on you kayak.
Oh i see on one of your other responses. Might be best to link your website in the description of the video. I have a question though. I just got the Hummingbird Helix 5 SI with side sonar. Just wondering if these extensions are long enough to get a clear unobstructed 180° horizontally below boat. Kayak and or canoe?
Hi Mike, it should be, but to be safe, you may want to purchase another extension arm (each arm provides 2.5" in length) here: www.fishfindermounts.com/#!product/prd1/2801846571/transducer-mount-arm-extension I hope this helps you Mike :)
Sean Watton This is where you can get it Sean: www.fishfindermounts.com/#!product/prd1/2801834021/15mm-magnetic-transducer-mount-kit Please email sales@floattubefanatics.com for a price on shipping to Australia.
+CustomerKAM We would suggest this version here for your jet ski: www.fishfindermounts.com/#!product/prd1/4269281305/bolt-on-magnetic-transducer-mount-kit , there is a photo there in the thumbnails that shows a jet ski install.
+Steve Edwards Hi Steve, we will certainly work towards that end. By the way, for a short time we have put a 10% discount code onto our website. Use it when you check out to get 10% off any of our products :)
+Float Tube Fanatics & Fish Finder Mounts .com thanks for the quick response ill look into it i currently have mine mounted so im in no rush. but if you really are working to that end, reply to this at a later time. thanks
+Steve Edwards Hi Steve, this will likely be the lowest you will see it with us on our website; but eventually you will see dealers carrying it all over the USA. They may be more competitive to some extent, and you will certainly save on the shipping. We will be at ICAST in July this year working hard to make this a reality. Thanks again for all your feedback Steve :)
