Kayaking Or Finishing Concrete?

Just when i thought i had seem pretty much everything, over the last 50 years, to do with concrete, leave it to you Tom, a Kayak, stunning, necessity is truly the mother of invention. In all my years of cement, finishing, I’ve never seen someone in a kayak doing the inside edge of a pool deck. Every time I’ve ever done a pool deck the water has always been drained from the pool. I guess my concern would be any little cement particles going into the water as you’re rubbing and finishing the edge. Always open to learning something new.

I was watching you in the Kiack working on the pool thinking if that was me some how I would end up in the water.

A 10 or 14 mil vapor barrier is a much better. It does not degrade and crumble over time like Visqueen does and is much more resistant to punctures. You can also tape hole holes around the plumbing pipes, etc. This would be another step forward in your end products quality and would speak volumes about your detail to a long lasting product. This is a much better barrier for Radon, which is very important in our area of Wisconsin. Sorry, but I'm retired and have forgotten the name of the product.

Pool pour, you just gotta do it the best way possible. You did. Second job, over-dig. How the heck do you deal w that on jobs that you move in and pour just after it's built? If the contractor already had the fill done, how do you know they compacted it correctly? The thought of the base settling bothers me. How do you know? Wow. Idk how you do it! Third pour - heck, yeah!! I wish you had a shop that size too!! You could make thousands of videos in a shop that size! What a wonderful retirement idea! So, do you have room on your property, or will it be a satellite shop? When does construction begin? Steve's got room on his new property. Sweet dreams!! It's 1/2/24. Hello Hauses, Happy and prosperous New Year. I have watched you for some time and I have used what you have taught in how two slabs I have had installed were done. Just courious, you may have covered this sometime but I have not seen it, you hand trowel the finish as my guys did, but some sites use power trowels to finish. Pros and cons? Thanks SB

Well Tom, It's Jan. 2, 2024. Time flies. Who's the new commentator. He's no Tom Haus with that smooooth description and highly skilled knowledge of the English language he possess's. Just an example is the new word I learned today "chunkage". I'm having trouble finding a place to use it, but by diddley, I'll use it ASAP😂😂. Speaking about the over digging it's amazing how many times I've seen people so much in a hurry to finish a job that they do the backfill only to do the finish landscaping and then in 6 to 8 months they're redoing it. Steve had better stay on top of cleaning that new truck for what you paid for that. Usually the owner gets the new truck and the "hired help" gets his. I guess a new baby changes that. Congratulations to Steve and his wife on the new arrival. Also to you and Donna for being grandparents once again. Yes sir that building would make a great woodshop❤❤ Enjoy the new year and stay safe. Hope you guys can enjoy a little break. Fix up and polish some equipment and be ready for the next round.

Has anyone used spray foam under slab instead of sheets? Would it be better seal around posts and pipes… maybe faster to layout… maybe the same cost?
