Great video, thanks for posting! What section do you suggest more, this or the one above you posted before?

Thank you, It really depends on what you seek. This is a much calmer section of river for sure. Our trip from 1871 to 2389 has some class 2 rapids if you enjoy the action. Both are pretty in different ways.

@@tgcanoesandkayaks Guess I'll just need to do both, but those red cliffs might highlight which one gets done first. Thanks!

do you remember or know how many cfs was the flow rate that day? Wanting to go see the HL Bluffs this Spring.

Watching this video with my kayaking group here in Arkansas. We float the Buffalo River religiously, but want to come down and put in at 1871, and take out at 87. Have you paddled from Simonsville to 87? Wondering what the scenery is like. Are there more bluffs and cliffs? Also, with the exception of islands, is ALL land that flanks the river private? We do not want to trespass. Lastly, does your canoe company provide private shuttles between those two specific bridges?

Howdy Vance, I have not been past Simonsville Rd, and I do believe this is the largest bluff in that area. Yes all property outside the river bank cuts is private property here in Texas. Contact Llano River Region Adventures 512-496-2020 for services in this area.

Do both of these point have public parking all hours?

The put in is popular with locals all day, the takeout is very tight with space for a few cars. So yes public

Hey Alex, I’m doing this strip in a couple of weeks. What should the river be flowing at to avoid getting out dragging the kayaks?

This is a great question, in this video the river was at 104 cfs. I've been told down to 70 cfs is still worth it. We always call Tony with Llano Region Adventures 512-496-2020 for a water update before we leave to check the flows.

I plan on doing this trip in a few days. How long did it took y'all to kayak from Dos Rios campground and then 5 miles to Simonsville Road?
@tgcanoesandkayaks
@tgcanoesandkayaks 4 года назад
If you are recreationally paddling about 3hrs or so. Fishing would be double that and more I would say. It's closer to 6 miles with very little shade on this section. Proper clothing/sunscreen/ a good amount of drinking water and you should be good. The bluffs are incredible on this trip!

@@tgcanoesandkayaks no dangerous swift rapid currents correct? At least not too fast and dangerous at this section?

What is the parking situation at Simonsville Road? It looks like a very narrow road with limited parking from what I can see on Google Maps -- trying to decide whether to do this stretch sometime. Thanks!
@tgcanoesandkayaks
@tgcanoesandkayaks 3 года назад
It's a 1 lane country road, we parked in the ditch, and loaded up at the bridge. Its fine for cars and trucks. If you are pulling a trailer make sure you can turn it tightly.
