While pregnant with her second child, Kayleigh was diagnosed with an incompetent cervix, which put her at risk of infection. She was prescribed full bed rest. Soon after she became very ill, experiencing chills, body aches, and she realized the baby wasn’t moving. She was rushed to the hospital where she went into septic shock. She survived but lost her arms and legs.
In honor of Maternal Sepsis Week, Kayleigh is bravely sharing her story to help us raise sepsis awareness.
