but heel hooks on the gi would be very problematic it's harder to escape since there's more friction but then again, you could hold on to the pants and the sleeves so people would eventualy stall anyway

I watched again it looks like Duarte went to pull first but like by a split second. Warzinski is one of my favorite competitors.

Nowan Reil Kaynan stalled in 50/50 guard towards the end, didn’t necessarily win with anything. If it’s a tie the refs base the win off of who does the most work, most attempts at passing etc and since the refs are almost always Brazilian they favor the Brazilian grapplers 99% of the time which kills the competitive scene
