Although I like both, Thibodeaux looks more explosive and raw. I can see him being a game changer in a couple years in the pros. Well worth taking top 5 in the draft.
KT is much more agile than Hutchinson and he has just as much strength. I’d take KT over Hutchinson all day. But, I sure wouldn’t mind having Hutch, he just doesn’t have what KT has imo. Noah and Flowe will be day 1 draft picks!
Hutchinson to Detroit would be storybook. Yet Jacksonville passing on him would be foolish. Penei Sewell says Thibodeaux was the most difficult player to match up against.........and that was is in practice at Oregon. Detroit should pick Thibodeaux
@@RsChrisG The video you are literally commenting on says KT's comp is more of Khalil Mack and considering he went 5th and Mack went 4th while Hutch and Clowney went before both, its kinda funny. Hutch has a higher floor with an above average ceiling. KT has arguably the highest ceiling in the class with a lower floor than Hutch tho. I think both will be stars in the NFL tbh
@@krytiic7861 Clowney was the physical freak, mack was the productive player. P.S I don't think either will be bad, but i'm saying you got production/nfl read vs Athletic freak of nature. And tbh, Travon Walker has the highest ceiling tbh.
@@RsChrisG KT also produced lmao. In 2019 he had 9 sacks in 13 games and last season playing with an injury he had 7 sacks in 10 games. That’s pretty good production. And you can argue Hutch only had one production year while KT had multiple and one was playing with an injury. Thats why I said arguably. The difference is KT has a super high ceiling only maybe 2nd to Walker but he has a higher floor then Walker as well. Walker didn’t produce anything in college. I do get your point tho, don’t wanna argue, I think both will be stars.
Yeah, I can’t see Hutchinson being a bust. I think he’s the safer pick, but I think he’s a tier below the Bosa brothers. But that’s not a shot considering a Tier 2 Edge is still a great pick
How is he a tier below? He is a much better athlete than both of them. Keep in both of those two guys ran 4.8 40 yard dashes when Hutchinson runs a ridiculous time today.
I don’t think either will be. Hutchinson’s jump off the snap reminds me of Howie Long. Thibodeaux reminds me of Bradley Chubb. I do think he needs coaching up. I hope whoever drafts him has a veteran to teach him the nuances of pass rushing.
Hutchinson and Thib are close, but one is giving you a high motor who isn’t selfish. I think even if both don’t live up to the hype, Hutch has a safer floor
My high end comparison for Thibodeaux would be Terrell Suggs. Strong consistent pass rusher, good awareness to finish the play and good body control. He may not be leading the sack totals every year but he could be a very solid edge defender getting 10+ sacks regularly. If I was a GM drafting at the top and could feel comfortable he’s got high football IQ, work ethic and the drive to play it would be a no brainer.
Suggs is far more stronger than him and definitely not as explosive as him. However, Suggs is 100x meaner and tougher than him. A better comparison would by Dion Jordan.
Yea I was gonna say the same, Suggs won with power in college far more than Thibodaux. Maybe he felt like he could just win with his first step but if you can't beat college tackles with power you're really gonna struggle beating NFL tackles. Unless you're Von Miller or Parsons level explosive, you can't just win with speed every time. Kayvon is athletic, but not close to those guys
You've absolutely never played football. I was a skill player but my brother played defensive end. Both played in college . We both agree we've never seen someone with a motor like Hutchinson. What thibodeaux can do one 1 play is impressive but he does not have the gas to do it for the whole drive and especially the game. Hutchinson does. He can do it all day.
Id go with Kavon. More physical skill. Guy can be a 15+ sack guy. Hutch is kinda like Joey but nowhere near Nick, if that makes any sense. Nick is more twitchy, bendy, Joey is more stiff, and Hutch is kinda like Joey. Hutch will be a 7-8 sack guy unless he goes to the 49ers or Rams.
Everybody said the same thing about Joey and he's been one of the best edges in football when healthy. He plays more like Nick too. Real power in his hands
@@deyampert3738 Uh what. My guy they have basically the same arm length, the difference is 7/8ths of an inch. He also has short arms for a d line man lol. The most important combine stat for a pass rusher is the 3 cone drill, and Hutchinson had a time of 4.73 versus 4.89 for Crosby. So while Crosby may be slightly faster laterally, that literally does not matter when Hutchinson is more agile and can get off the line with explosiveness and quickness around super big offensive linemen. He also uses similar key pass rushing moves like the swim and has the strength to bull rush like Crosby. I feel like you don’t really know what you’re talking about bro 😂
@@Jonathan-cz4ky 😂 ok well Max in an all pro and Hutch is a rookie so I really think you might be overanalyzing this whole thread. I guess you are a fan of Hutch, I understand. Max has 25 sacks in the NFL! Lets revisit these numbers when Hutch hits 25 w/ a Pro Bowl.
Friendly criticism You don’t have to say “in my opinion” over and over it is your video. Mention if it’s not and whose opinion it is like a citation in an academic paper.
Who do you guys like better: Kayvon Thibodeaux or Aidan Hutchinson? Also, George Karlaftis should be next! I'll be going back to the new shorter form content for that video and the rest of the NFL Draft 2022 series.
@@AlphaDwg Yeah that's how I pretty much see it too. Hutchinson has the higher floor + a pretty good ceiling, Thibodeaux is an average floor + very high ceiling
Hutchinson by far. Can't go wrong with his power/ explosove ability/technique and hand usage. Kayvon is a better athlete but doesn't turn the corner/flip his hips like an absolute no.1 EDGE should. I see a less freakish Jadaveon Clowney thats worse vs the run. I guess we will see.
Can't agree more I'm a G-men fan I think that super charged ultra beam sonic blaster energy like pass rush is the one i'm taking. I don't know why this is much of a debate.
I watched, MSU ran the ball towards Hutchinson's side only three times the entire game lol. He did have one bad mistake in that game when KW3 ran up the middle and was initially stonewalled and Hutchinson pinched too far inside to join the pileup but KW3 was able to slip out of it and bounce outside around Hutchinson and score. In addition to MSU being scared to run the ball towards him, Hutchinson also had 2 sacks against them but he lost one statistically because Michigan accepted an offensive holding penalty instead (which was drawn by Hutchinson). In fact he drew 3 holding penalties that game and it probably should have been more. A dominant individual performance other than the one costly play he over-pursued on. He didn't do much against Georgia, but they also ran away from his side for the most part and threw a ton of screen passes and quick routes to limit Michigan's pass rush.
If going by intangibles. I like Hutchinson. He keeps improving and learning the game and has a desire to improve himself. Obviously, Kayvon wants to improve as does any draft prospect, but Hutchinson just has a work ethic and desire that is unique.
The hype train for Thibodeux left the station before the season even started. People were talking about how great he is but Hutchinson didnt have that initial hype. As the season went on it was impossible to miss where Hutchinson was on the field he was so disruptive and made plays. I made it a point watch Oregon games through out the season and I kept waiting to see where this playmaker was. He was non existent against Stanford and Utah 2x. That never happened with Hutchinson once in any game.
@@jvcatal you mean the Georgia team that won the national championship? That was his one bad game, I'll take it. This is a simple case of technique and skill vs raw athletic ability
@@bryanbadder1560 bro using team success as an argument lmfao. Must be nice having another 1st round edge opposite of you the whole season. Boys still couldn’t touch Kenneth Walker in that MSU game 😂
Hutchinson looked more impressive against stronger talent, and has a stronger motor. In many of Thibodeaux's highlights, it looks like his opponents missed and he took advantage of their misses. I think Hutchinson is the safer pick.
@@tyroneeasy9804 KT is going to have to step up his run defense. It's not good at all. Hutchinson was graded 1st in pass rush and 2nd in run defense. Kt was graded 8th in pass rush and 56th I run defense.
Anyone talking about Hutchinson vs Georgia watch the highlights, Georgia shredded Michigan with screen/quick passes early on opening up their defense and making the edge rushers ineffective since the ball was out 1.5 secs after the snap
Hutchinson didn’t do as good his first 3 years . Thibodeaux was a beast his freshman year and had to face a lot of double/triple teams the last 2 years . Kayvon still had really good stats . Also after the year the Hutchinson had , I guarantee if he stayed in college one more year he would see a lot more double teams / forcing him to the outside . He wouldn’t of had the stats he did this year . Crazy to think kayvon has always been good , people try to adjust to stop him and still he puts up good numbers . Also I think Hutchinson is a beast but I don’t think he would have had the season he did last year if he would have showcased his talents earlier in his career .
Thibedeaux does remind me of Khalil Mack he’s got that body type but I don’t know if he’s going to power through nfl tackles like he did to his pac 12 opponents.. Hutchinson on the other hand reminds me of JJ Watt. Great pass rusher but his inside presence against the run is in my opinion why I don’t see a comparison between him and thibedeaux. Both are great pass rushers but Hutchinson will be the one whose 1st team all pro.. thibedeaux is just going to be super popular and be a perennial pro bowler. There’s more to being a DE than just rushing the passer especially in the nfl.
Hutchinson is always collapsing the pocket with a bull rush, of course it doesn't look as flashy as Thibodaux.. But think about mma fighters.. the guys who use speed and flexibility.. don't last as long.. Man Strength is Last To Go. Just Sucks Hutchinson is probably going #1 to Titans. This guy is Detroit/Michigan bred, with great Football Petigree.. So many people disregard the Off-the field contributions a player can make.. Aiden is also a football nerd, a true student of the game like his father, another Michigan Legend who's now an ER Doctor..
Dude he’s overpowering college lineman who lack strength and technique. He’s not doing that against nfl tackles they’ll eat him alive. Meanwhile KT has what nobody can teach and that’s speed. Big 10 fans are so fucking stupid
Sorry. The highlights didn't show him doubled and tripled teamed much and be successful. I did see him work off one block, and get chipped by a guard as he was penetrating.
Prime Robert Quinn is better than prime Jones. Maybe current Quinn but put some respect on Quinn’s name. Dude would be lucky to be on Quinn’s level let alone at work lol
@@blankname6629 there’s way more comparisons in jones and kayvons game than Quinn. I didn’t say he’s not a good player he’s just inconsistent and jones was better at that
I see a lot of Taco Charlton in Aidan Hutchinson, but he just doesn’t seem to have the same length. Thibodeau seems to have much better technique and can obviously use his arm length. You can teach technique but you can’t teach arm length LOL. Kayvon’s power is impressive, Aidan might be Taco 2.0
I’d pick thibedoux hutch 90% of Hutchinson wins were from strength and that’s not going to work for him in the nfl he doesn’t have enough tricks in the bag
People want him because of his motor and his ability to win the hand fights. His swim and rip moves are phenomenal from the get go, he has a great bull rush and a decent spin move as well, to say he doesn't have enough tricks is wild.
I am a Michigan fan. You are crazy if you take Aiden over Thibodaux. Thibodaux is way more explosive, flexible, and is just as strong. Don't get me wrong I love Aiden and you can't go wrong with either but Thibodaux just has a higher ceiling.
Great point, if Hutchinson returned to Michigan this year with all the hype he garnered pretty much in the last six weeks of the college football year: Would he be able to put up the stats in Ann Arbor in 2022 with double and triple teams and all the expectations? It’s a moot point because obviously he will be in Michigan in 2022 but wearing blue and gray instead of blue and yellow… Anyways go Giants!!
Depends on what team you are. For example, what about the Lions with the second overall pick? They mainly need a DE or defensive linemen that can play 3-4 schemes. It wouldn’t make sense for them to draft Aidan to play OLB occasionally. So many Lions fan biased for any Michigan prospect
@@SGT-CART3R did you watch the combine? Hutchinson ran the 5th fastest shuttle and 3 cone drill of all players that attended. He also did stellar in field drills showing he can definitely drop back if need be.
No he doesn’t. The Oregon oline KT faced his freshman and sophomore year every practice at Oregon was better than anything Michigan faced. KT spent an entire year having to face penei Sewell everyday at practice
@@2299mikey you should mix drugs and liquor then post comments like this on the web. PAC 10 is Laughing stock of NCAA. Do your research! Big Ten and SEC have sent most offensive lineman to NFL year over year. Ohio State/Wisconsin have had best O lines in NCAA.
As a lions fan, I think people are grossly under estimating with the Jags did. They took a guy who can fit in multiple roles over one who is going to end up coming off the DE spot in a 43 and nothing more. It saddens me people think AH is any thing other than a straight up 43 rush end. He isn’t a hybrid and will not play off the ball at the next level. In the way the Lions have designed the scheme, he’s a 6 sack guy. Vegas moved KT to the odds on favorite to lead rookies in sacks. Aiden will finish 4th or 5th if he’s lucky, as far as I see it. Sorry! I just think SOL is letting Capers walk after one year and shifting to a 43 to suit Aiden. They don’t have 3 quality LBs on their roster. Even the 425 is going to get them killed. I don’t think most Lions fans understand how bad all this looks. 7 months ago this team was amassing pieces like Thibs and finding roles for them. Now they’re seeking a totally different edge type and it’s clear instead of building cohesion, they’re going to be moving pieces in and out to get back to a dated scheme that failed them for 4 decades. In 2-4 years, I’ve no worries this post will come back up. When it does, just remember….you don’t build a scheme around a DE in the NFL. Not a 43 crash into the QB DE. 30 years ago, Bruce Smith or 20 years ago Julius Peppers? Maybe, But with the abundance of receivers coming out and the short quick passes neutralizing the time it takes plays to develop, it’s just bad business. Leave it to the Lions to go back to something they sucked at as the good old days.
I think Huchenson benefited greatly from the existence of David ojabo on the other side. Look at how many times Hugh was doubled as compared to thibadux. And look what happened when Michigan faced a professional caliber O line against Georgia. More than one embarrassing pancake that night for him.
I just feel like thib is better but his potential issues not willing to be coached is worrisome but Hutchinson will be solid at best won’t be elite imo
Just gonna throw this out here, (Not hating on kayvon at all he deserves respect) But all of his highlights are against shit teams. Look at aidans and theres SEVERAL clips from top 10 teams mixed in. How good are you really when your playing UCLA, Cal for half your highlights? Like I said no disrespect at all but just an observation
@@chrislane5145 u saw in the video, wasnt terrible, but also not like how he did against osu. made great plays but everyone only talks about that one bad play where he got pushed down bc his team lost
@@Cujobob Georgia was 21 of 31 with 331 yds, 4 TDs, 0 ints. Michigan had 0 sacks and 2 tfl. They didn't "go away from him" on pass plays. Not what you expect from a player who might go #1 overall.
@@chrislane5145 good teams scheme away from great players to take them out of the game. This is why Calvin Johnson spent so much of his career triple teamed. You can absolutely change up play calling to alleviate pressure on a QB. This is also why people say it’s not a big deal Kayvon didn’t have the sack numbers. I’m not sure I buy that entirely because some of his opponents were pretty bad.
Jags will be drafting the better player, which is Aidan. Thib can't be trusted with performance or his words. He will be a Ryan Leaf on someone's Def line.
Hutchinson is going to learn very quickly that using a 2-hand press on every play isn't going to work in the league. He's strong, but he has a lot to learn. With the right coaching, Thibodeaux can get where he needs to be fairly quickly
Yer literally trippin on acid, yeah? You’ve got it backward there, guy. Hutchinson is by far, by FAR the more polished edge rusher ofvthe two. You obviously haven’t watched him play much (or read ANY scouting on him) if you think he only has one move. One of the huge pluses w/ him is the refined and extensive toolbox he already possesses going into The League. KT is the one who’s raw, without much polish or multiple tools in his game yet. He’s just a great athlete with huge potential. Hutch is pro ready now
@@jahkidotts3022 Those literally are the differences between them, Hutch is more polished and ready, but Thibs is less polished and much more of a freak athlete. People don't say that Thibs has a lower floor higher ceiling for no reason.
That’s not what you want. If this is a polished version of Hutchinson he’s gonna be a huge bust. Meanwhile KT has barely even scratched the surface on his potential and has a much higher ceiling.
@@2299mikey Look, ceiling and potential are wonderful. Problem is, most players NEVER reach their ceiling even throughout their entire career and the reason why is simple: the meta and strategies of NFL changes rapidly, and the core of Football is so complex already that it was nearly impossible to master to begin with. There's a very easy and logical reason why scouts prefer foundationally-sound players for the draft: they have a higher likelihood of reaching a higher percentage of their total potential but also their floors tend to be much higher than prototypical players so it's not nearly as much of a risk to your team's performance. KT needs A LOT of technical work and the truth is he may never get it all mastered but that's fine since he's such a physical beast right? Well yes and no, since it all entirely depends on his personal work ETHIC & more importantly - coaching. TL;DR - KT is more of a toss-up and Hutchinson is safer but they're both going to be good for at least a little while in the NFL.
Lions fans going crazy for any Michigan prospect, so biased. I’m fine with either one, we will probably pick Kayvon. Lions run a 3-4 scheme mainly, same as Kayvon. Both are extremely great picks, but Aidan doesn’t really fit what the Lions need.
Because Michigan had a much better defense. Kayvon was in a front 7 with only 1 other nfl talent and that was a MLB. The rest of oregons dline was very weak and KT still came up with tons of big run stops. And his freshman and sophomore year when he had a decent Dline he was great against the run
KT vs AH🧐. KT is a freak athlete, but compares too much to Clowney who was more of an explosive athlete than him! My only issue with him is his laziness and taking plays off. As well as his pass rush/run fit technique!!!! His Motor is his weakness, where that’s AH strength! Guy has Gr8 motor and excellent technique! He’s not the athlete and is not as explosive, but guy works his ass off. Reminds me of Chris Long, not the Bosa bros.
KT is definitely faster. Everyone on the planet knows that. I just would not touch KT unless he has a dominant leader on defense to push him like a Bosa, Mack, or someone like that.
Make a person for came in Thibodeax is Danielle Hunter he can blow past tackles with speed and utilize it to speed to bull rush but have trouble stoping the run
Hutchinson went to Detroit, which means Thibodeaux will be the better player. Detriot is where great football players go to fail. Just ask Jeff Okudah. He was a can't miss guy, who is underachieving in Detroit. There's a long list of others as well. Not everybody can be Barry Sanders or Megatron and succeed despite being in Detroit.
I feel aiden is safer pick but I’ve been before when 2 yrs later the dude we talked about for 3 yrs that has superior talent got bored and boom in nfl it’s like how did they take aiden over thibodaux
The thing about Thibodaux is he hasn't shown he can win with power. He has an amazing first step and good bend, but it's hard to just win the edge in the league when you don't win with power. Ask Chase Young. His moves will need to get better and they will if he puts in the work. The reason the league and myself are higher on Hutch is he wins with power and his pass rush moves already and can win the edge. The scouts seem to believe Thibodaux isn't as passionate about football as Hutchinson is either. That could be unfair but it'll be a big part of their development
