About the Kazusa Twelve Shrines Festival Said to have begun in the second year of the Daido era (807) during the reign of Emperor Heizei, this festival is a grand ritual in which the enshrined deity, Tamayorihime-no-Mikoto, and the gods of her clan are reunited once a year on Tsurigasaki Beach, the site of a historic site.
Among the many Hamaoroshi Shinto rituals held on the Boso Peninsula, this festival boasts the longest history and tradition, and has been designated an intangible folk cultural asset of Chiba Prefecture as a precious festival that preserves the meaningful ancient rituals of the time.
