Latest news 2023. 1. June 6th - Paris Court of Appeal had set aside and annulled the previous Paris Court award to heirs of the defunct Sulu Sultanate. 2. June 27th - Dutch Court of Appeal had dismissed a bid by eight descendants of former Sultan of Sulu to enforce the arbitration award following the Paris Court of Appeal decision. Yes, it is over.
The Rule of Sultanate of Sulu was the clear illustration of how kings, rulers, leaders etc in this world are defeated by lack of EDUCATION. They were not attacked by the British nor by Malaysia in actual battle fights, but they lost their kingdom to the one who has superior Educational System. Education can be your unseen power to win in all battles of life. In all aspects of developments, economy, politics, military, etc. One may succeed or win and lost without it. That's why our govt. should strengthen our Educational System if it wants to dominate more effectively. And not allowed that our education may fall to the greedy oligarchs or to treacherous designs of some political idiology
Yes, it is again proven when Sulu brought their claim case in various European courts. They finally lost in various courts of appeal in Madrid, Paris, Luxembourg and Netherlands.

@@user-sk3nf2vv4p , had been hearing this kind of rhetorics since 30 to 40 years ago. The "future" of 40 years ago should be now. Otherwise it would be a very long "future".
Addressing issues about the Sultanate of Sulu and the assigned lands like Palawan (aside from Sabah or Sarawak), the entire people of the Philippines should affirm, uphold and continue the legacy of the old Sultan. His people in Sulu should not be forgotten....

Philippines claims Sabah on the basis that Sabah was said to be once under Sulu. Descendants of former Sultan of Sulu claim that Sabah belonged to Sulu because Brunei gave Sabah to Sulu. But Brunei refuted this claim and denied ever having given Sabah to Sulu. There was NO DOCUMENT regarding the transfer of ownership of Sabah from Brunei to Sulu signed by both Sultans.
Why are these people very busy with sabah. The sultan should claim dividend from sulu sea oil . It is not for the tagalog and visayans only. Sabah is progressive because it is in malaysia and its people work hard . The govt do not take people's money. They protect the people from being made into the source of money from unscrupulous people.
Mohd Hassan the Western dope the PH. PH govt only gets 10%, while US is 40% and UK is 40% on that Malampaya sea oil. what sulu sea oil, there’s territorial disputes in Spratlys and inside Sulu, Tubbataha is marine protected reefs.
The people of Sabah and Sarawak had made decision of self determination to be part of Malaysia. This is internationally recognized and recognized by the UN i.e Sabah and Sarawak are component States of Malaysia.
UN recognition was confirmed and clearly stated in the UN Secretary General report on Malaysia Mission. The last sentence of the report says: "I fervently hope that the people of these territories will achieve progress and prosperity, and find their fulfilment as component States of Malaysia".
anyone who thinks that Malaysia will willingly give up Sabah is out of touch with reality. Malaysia has adopted a hard stance with threats of possible use of military force and refuses any discussion on Sabah, the Philippines must stop being politically correct try to reclaim Sabah peacefully but be open to resort to other options.

He didn't abandon them. In fact the government of the Philippines at that time was willing to send mercy ship to them and provide safe passage back to the Philippines. But this offer was turned down.
True, i mean the president is still the head of state and government but provinces who still have royalties should have their own head of territory. Like Sulu and Maguindanao.
Since Sulu is already under the Filipinos' rule Sulu cannot make any claim on Sabah as the Filipines got no basis what so ever to claim this State as its territory. If Sulu leaves Phillipines and become an independent Muslim nation then maybe things will be clearer. But its better for Sulu to leave the Phillipines and join Malaysia as its 15th state and headed by a monarch. Since Malaysia is already a constitutional monarch nation & headed by a King or YDAgong the inclusion of Sulu State will be smooth and beneficial to all . Definitely Malaysia will help its fellow Muslim brothers in Sulu whom had been oppressed and exploited by the cruel, unjustice infidel government. Under Malaysia's rule Sulu will be a peaceful and prosperous State where all its people will live in harmony and enjoy total democracy. No more armed militia harassing the people. For this purpose the people of Sulu should call for a referandum oversee by the UN. The objective of this referendum is to get the people's support for Sulu seperation. One thing for sure nobody in Sabah State ( except some filipinos refugees, maybe) want to be a filipino's citizen. Everybody must respect humans rights. You cannot force someone to accept you by pointing guns at them. This is exactly what the fillipines are doing through their militia groups at the Malaysians in Sabah. So, backoff!
I don't understand, why blame Ninoy (Benigno Aquino Jr.)? He wasn't the president. In fact he was assassinated when Marcos was the president. He didn't do anything. If you were taking about Benigno Aquino III, he was the president from 2010 to 2016. During his time Sabah was already part of Malaysia since 1963.
Sabah got no issue to be part of Federation of Malaysia. Maybe, Sulu got problem with the Fililipons. So, better for Sulu to call for referendum seeking full independence from the Filipinos.
Brunei did not give the people of sabah bcause the people of was not aubject of the sultans. We were free people , how come claim us.and our lands. We have choosen to be in malaysia.
.......... .. . . Well mukhang imposible/possible?
In short, they were bought by Malaysia not to pursue in taking back Sabah. Well, of course Pres. Macapagal and Marcos tried to regain Sabah and Marcos organized the Commando Unit Codenamed "Jabidah" to carry the "Operation Merdeka" to take over Sabah but failed. The rest is History.
How come sultan sulu want to claim sabah when they even ruled by phillipine govt and can't even get indipendence from phillipine to become an independent nation. court of Justice are only recognize claim made by sovereign country and not by the the self proclaim sultan's which kingdom is no more exist in this modern world
Pinoys do not recognize the sovereignty of the sultanate of Sulu. A sultan who does not have sovereignty, cannot claim any territory. This only makes a fool of sultan sulu.

Latest news 2023; 1. June 6th - Paris Court of Appeal had set aside and annulled the award ruled by previous Paris Court to the heirs of the defunct Sulu Sultanate. 2. June 27th - Dutch Court of Appeal in The Haque dismissed a bid by eight descendants of former Sultan of Sulu to enforce the arbitration award following the Paris Court of Appeal decision.
2. (continue) - Dutch Court of Appeal also dismissed an attempt to seize Malaysian assets following the Paris Court of Appeal decision. 3. Paris Court of Appeal also imposed on Sulu €100,000.00 (Euro currency) to be paid to Malaysia as legal cost. 4. Mean while in Luxembourg, a second attempt to seize Malaysian Petronas assets had been filed in Luxembourg Court due for hearing in September 2023 after the first attempt was dismissed. This will likely be dismissed too following the Paris Court of Appeal decision.
Now is already October 2023 and no news about Sulu's claim proceeding in Luxembourg Court. It looked like they withdrew their case when they acknowledged the Paris Court of Appeal decision. Malaysia had spent around RM32m, equivalent to about USD6.6m to deal with these Sulu claim cases in various European courts, in Madrid, Paris, Luxembourg and Netherlands. Apart from the €100,000.00 Sulu has to pay to Malaysia as legal cost, Malaysia is planning to sue Sulu for compensation for the loss of RM32m spent.
Now is already January 2024, and still no news about Sulu claim proceeding in Luxembourg Court. It looked like they really withdrew their case when they acknowledged the Paris Court of Appeal decision. The Spanish Arbitrator Gonzalo Stampa's action of bringing the Sulu claim case in Paris Court when Madrid Court had already made decision in favour of Malaysia was seen by Spanish judicial authority as "Contempt of Court" and "Professional Intrusiveness". Following this, Stampa's appointment as an Arbitrator was revoked and annulled by Spanish Court. His arbitration award to Sulu of US$14.92B compensation was also annulled. Criminal proceeding was also taken against Stampa. Sulu and Stampa tried to appeal in higher Spanish courts but failed. And finally Spanish Constitutional Court upheld lower courts' decisions revoking Stampa's appoinment as an arbitrator and annulling his arbitration on Sulu's claim. On 11 December the rogue Arbitrator Gonzalo Stampa was charged in Madrid Court for "Contempt of Court" and "Professional Intrusiveness". On 8 January 2024, the court found him guilty and was sentence for 6 months imprisonment together with a ban from practicing as an Arbitrator for a year.

But Brunei refuted this claim and denied ever having given Sabah to Sulu. There was no document regarding the transfer of ownership of Sabah from Brunei to Sulu signed by both Sultans.
*Sabah land is for sabahan. Philippines don't have rights on Sabah. Sabahan people choose to be malaysian in 1963. Malaysia never pay rental money to sulu heirs. The payment was only compensation money or more likely a gift because sulu heir lost his rights on Sabah when sabahan declared independence free from colonizer and any entity which claimimg Sabah. At the first place Sabah is not really sulu territory. The sulu sultan only claimimg sabah because Brunei Sultanate never reward Sabah to sulu sultan*
Philippines claim on North Borneo based solely on historical and legal rights is very dubious without any evidence. First, Sultan Sulu claimed Sultan Brunei gave North Borneo to Sulu as a gift in assisting Brunei’s civil war is without any proof. Earliest historian like Sir Stamford Raffles (History of Java) in 1830 said it is only a claim. The agreement between Sultan Brunei and British North Borneo Company (BNBC) on 29 December 1877 which is 3 weeks earlier than the agreement between Sultan Sulu (22 January 1878) and BNBC show that North Borneo was still belongs to Brunei. The onus is on Philippines to proof it otherwise. Second, on 22nd July 1878, Sultan Sulu relinquished his sovereignty on Sulu Archipelago and its dependencies thereof to Spain (Bases of Peace and Capitulation agreement). On the same day, Sultan Sulu wrote to Governor General of Philippines and Governor of Sulu terminating the agreement (22 January 1878 agreement) between Sulu Sultanate and BNBC. The agreement between Sultan Sulu and BNBC on 22nd January 1878 is null and void. Thus, issues whether it is a rent or cession and translation either in English or Tausug is no more valid. On 24th July 1878, Governor of Sulu wrote to BNBC concerning the Spanish sovereignty on Sulu and its dependencies including North Borneo and the termination of the 1878 agreement. Governor General of Philippines wrote a letter on the same matter dated 20th August 1878 to the Spanish Government in Madrid. The issue was later raised by Spain with the British Government. Finally, the issue on the agreement between Sultan Sulu and BNBC and the status of North Borneo was settled through the Madrid Protocol (7th March 1885). North Borneo belongs to the British under this Protocol. Again, on the 25th November 1957, the latter Sultanate of Sulu declared termination of the lease between Sulu and BNBC effective on 22 January 1958. Thus, the agreement is null and void twice. Third, there is no such agreement between Malaysia with the Sultan Sulu nor Philippines on renting and payment on North Borneo. The 22nd January 1878 agreement is only between Sultan Sulu and BNBC. Any dispute between parties need to refer to the Majesty’s Consul General in Brunei as stated in the agreement but there is nothing in the record. Earlier the British (before formation of Malaysia) also do not have such an agreement. You pay when there is an agreement. It was only a gift from Malaysia after the Manila Accord meeting 1963 as requested by Philippines Government to cool down the situation. That is why the amount is ridiculously small in Malaysian dollar and not Mexican Gold Dollar used during that era (1878). Surprisingly, on 12 February 1989, Sultan Mohammad Jamalul Kiram III revoked the resolution of 1962 regarding the transfer of title and sovereignty to the Republic of the Philippines. Thus Philippines is no more a legit claimant to Sabah. There is a court case in ICJ record pertaining to the Philippines claims to North Borneo. A special 37 pages report by ICJ was published in 2001 and easily accessible from the ICJ official website. It was a trial within a trial in the court case between Malaysia and Indonesia over the ownership of the islands of Sipadan and Ligitan. During the trial, Philippines which is not a party to the trial requested permission to intervene. To comply to Article 62 of the Statute of Court, Philippines stated 3 objects for the intervention namely to safeguard and preserve Philippines historical and legal rights over North Borneo, to inform the court the affect or effect of the court outcomes on its claim to the territories and on the procedural issues in the court. After deliberation, the court found the first 2 objectives are appropriate. Later Philippines lawyers explained their case and provide documentation especially the Sulu-Ovenbeck 1878 agreement and related information to the court. On 23 October 2001, by 14 to 1 vote, the court rejected the Philippines request on the ground that there is no interest of legal nature. Notwithstanding the recognition by UN on the formation of Malaysia in 1963 and this ICJ decision, Philippines still continue pursuing the claim. It is of no issue and need not be entertained.
Yes, that's right. When Brunei ceded Sabah to NBCC (North Borneo Chartered Company) the cession agreement was documented. When NBCC made a "pajak" agreement with Sulu, the agreement was also documented. Sulu claimed that Sabah was given by Brunei to Sulu. But there was NO DOCUMENT regarding the transfer of ownership of Sabah from Brunei to Sulu signed by both sultans.
Tq. In addition, that 5300 dollar is the value in Mexican gold coin used during that era. One dollar has a weight of 1.7 grams of gold. So 5300 dollars have a weight of 9.01 kg of gold. So compare 5300 Malaysia dollars to 9 kg of gold. Ridiculously small. It can only be a gift rather than a rent.
@@hopelope1703 , The people of Sabah and Sarawak had made decision of self determination to join Malaysia.
