Harry Wayne Casey (KC) tells the story behind the song 'That's The Way (I Like It) by KC & The Sunshine Band. A documentary by Top 2000 a gogo from 2012..
When you hear stories bout how everyone was doing drugs mostly “coke”back in those.they weren’t joking.if you walked up to some friends and been offered a line and refused or passed on you were singled out.it’s a miracle any of these artists lived to tell their stories
Born in 67, grew up in the 70’s: I recall KC and all of the Sunshine Band as an act that was unparalleled. No one put on a performance like this group.
I liked them as a little kid, then hated them as a young adult, and like them again as an adult. Nothing wrong with disco, and nothing wrong with upbeat music.
Although i bought all of KCSB's music as a kid, I can't say that "no one" put on a performance like them. I guess you never saw Earth Wind and Fire in concert during that same period. EWF had thee absolute best visual shows in the world at that time. No one could top EWF's visuals and there live sounds that were just like their recordings. They were amazing.
Just worked with him a couple of years ago. Still doing a great show. You have to give him credit for the fact that he came back in the 80's with one of his best songs "Give It Up".
I adore KC and The Sunshine Band!! Grew up on their music and I'm 55 now and when I hear one of their songs on the radio, I still crank it up and butt boogie in my seat!!!
im australian 55 grew up listening to him dont care what u americans think of him he,s xlent good peformer good music pretty fly for a white guy lol kudos to him keep boogeing down kc and the band xox
I’m an American and I agree that KC was underrated here. The problem is that the music industry is always so big and so varied here and the most popular performers and singles tend to get treated like their level of commercialism somehow doesn’t mean there wasn’t real talent possessed.
Good lord, I saw KC & the Sunshine Band perform in front of the castle at Walt Disney World on New Years Eve sometime around '76 or so. I was never a big disco fan but I am glad to have seen that back then. You gotta admit... he knew how to write a hooky song.
I saw him & the SSBand at Disney World at the height of his fame. I was standing about 8 ft from the stage. It was electrifying! There is nothing like live music & KC had a hot bod to boot! Such good times.
There is no better song to dance to in a dance club than 'That's the way I like it'. The pounding beat, the droning bass guitar line, and the back up singers singing 'oooohhh ooooohhhh oooooohhhh oooooooohhhhh ooooooohhhhhh'....
@@farrellmcnulty909 La música es eso, música. El mensaje lo puedes poner tú. KC alegra, divierte.... Eso está mal?? Saludos desde el maravilloso sur de Chile.
KC is a musical genius! I always thought he is a great talent! As far as any negative comments that are posted here, ask yourself this question: If you don't like KC, why did you even watch this video.......or even come to this video to begin with?? I know if there is a musical artist I don't like, I just avoid them on RU-vid. Makes you wonder why the haters in the comment section even came here in the first place, and did not avoid this video. In fact, they even watched it. Sounds like closet KC fans. KC RULES...HE IS THE BEST!!
You shouldn't be asking why these KC haters come here, you should be asking; would the world be a more happy place WITHOUT KC and the Sunshine Band music? Even the haters would have to admit that this music makes the world a tiny bit happier for a lot of people, even if THEY don't like it.
I don't recall the month, but in 1994, I was with a friend who was a drummer in a small-time metal band. We used to tease each other about a variety of things. We'd just flown from Nashville to LAX. Walked out onto the sidewalk to wait for the shuttle to take us to the Hertz car rental site. Someone walked up almost right beside me and I looked over briefly and it was K.C. (Casey). I turned to my friend and told him this was his big chance and if he wants I'll introduce ourselves and get him set up with an audition. It was funny, but it was actually K.C. and a group of people with him. I guess his band at the time.
👍😍I love it! 💝 👍It’s 2020 and my friend’s little baby instantly stops crying and starts dancing when he hears any song by KC & The Sunshine Band!! All of these years later their music is still making people (and babies) happy!! 💝🤗💞🤗
“Every major artist in the world was influenced by this sound we started 40 years ago”. You could never ever said something more true. And thank you oh so very much for all of you guys back from the 70’s and 80’s have existed. Without you, music would never be the same!! #gratitude 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
@@ertfgghhhh Exactly, though it started as funk. Disco actually was when it became less hip. James Brown, Sly Stone.,Curtis Mayfield, P- Funk. The Isley Brothers. KC just expanded on the house they built.
@@ertfgghhhh 1) James Brown- I got the feeling 2) Sly Stone - Thank You 3) Curtis Mayfiekd - Move on Up 4) P- Funk - Year the Roof off the Sucker All 100% Funk
If I had a dollar for every time I danced to KC & The Sunshine Band back in the day I would be a wealthy woman . . . and if I still danced to it I would be a much slimmer one! Loved it then, love it now!
I was a toddler and this sound came out of the radio, it was different than anything Id ever heard but am radio in the 70s and its variety did that all the time
My landlord's son plays trumpet in his band. He's healthier than you think. Got clean, has a "no drugs in the band" policy and pays his band well. Lay off KC.
Sorry, I can't help saying that Harry was so gorgeous at this age! He has always had such a beautiful smile! I wish KCSB hadn't done away with the cowbells! They were a nice touch!
Timothy Gray Just because a mouth-breathing pilluck like yourself finds it difficult to differentiate between them, doesn’t mean that that is the case.
Looks like Harry got married (he was 61 in this video)! YAYYY for him - I hope he has a happy rest of his life, and may God continue to bless him!!! Anyone know who Harry was married to at this point in his life?! I thought I read that his wife unfortunately died of cancer, but he may have remarried. It's unfortunate that he never had any children (that we know of) to pass on his amazing talents to. I also read that he's been married to the same woman for the past 40 years, in a recent video, he says he's single....so it's hard to know what the truth is.
