Kansas City Southern's crossing of the Ouachita Mountains along the Oklahoma/Arkansas border is in the small village of Rich Mountain. Between Heavener, OK and Mena, AR, trains tackle the 1.5 percent grade, often with distributed power. In addition to KCS, you'll find overhead coal trains from BNSF and oil trains from Canadian Pacific. The Southern Belle paint scheme is very evident, but a few of the older grey units make an appearance.
