Love PJK? Let the world know!

I wish I had the previous part of this. Treasurer Paul Keating had, during question time, responded to an interjection from the member for McPherson by calling the member a 'bald iggle'

If they were to admit it, even the Libs admired PJK. I've never seen such a good natured genial exchange in parliament.

Love him or loathe him, everyone will have an opinion on Keating. And most of it will just be purely partisan-based, so who cares what you think. But as an economics student during his time as treasurer, I can tell you that he was ahead of his time, & that he made many of the structural changes in our economy & economic systems that we take for granted today. Back then, we were in awe of what he was doing, because we could see it changing before our eyes. We were literally watching & studying history in the making. History which, sadly, a lot of people wouldn't even know or appreciate today. As PM, he probably over-shot his mark & flew too close to the sun. Perhaps ambition got the better of him. But he was certainly an awe-inspiring treasurer.

Did you catch his apology for the recession Australia had to have, after he and Hawke floated the dollar Keating kept raising interest rates to try and curb inflation, he apologised and said he had no idea what he was doing and should have lowered rates, smart mouth, zero skills.
