What i like is that Fran is clearly not a threat.. but compared to how Keating handles her here, Kim Beazley was wonderfully gentle and playfully encouraged her to go at him when she was supposed to attack the then Labor opposition, and she had a positive rapport with him there and in turn didn't go too hard on them. He knew she was inept, but didn't needlessly attack her. Keating here though- we get that he has a sort of ideological, tribalist bloodlust (not meant in a bad way), he can't switch through too many gears in the performance to suddenly go soft- but its easy to see this resulting answer as overkill looking back.
