Today Tony Sims demos Robert Keeley's Memphis Sun guitar pedal! Keeley Memphis Sun: robertkeeley.com/product/Memp... Video production by: Chris Riggs Dreamlab Production www.DreamlabProduction.com
8 years on and just getting into Rockabilly and the Sun sound. Your other designs, rep, and this video sold me and grabbed it. But I'm STILL fighting the compulsion to get the Mystery Brain too... what's up with that??? 😀
The positives: The playing! And the vibes from this pedal. The negs: Everything dysfunctional about YT comments. Just gonna save time & do a mass reply here. To the guys who said the settings should be shown: They're listed on the left of the screen - at least the more classic ones. But, I feel ya; you gotta, you know, READ. And the tones after that are clearly more exploratory. Anyone would decide to buy or not based on the range demo'd here and for those more 'off the radar' tones, isn't half the fun of doscovering those "exploratory" settings exploring them??? To the guy who said "everything artificial sucks". You're right. So I've decided to hire a contractor to convert one of the rooms in my apartment to the exact specs of Sun Studios. Then if I want to gig, I'll have it detached from my apartment and put on a rolling platform that I can tow behind my - oh FFS! Finally to the erudite individual who said it sounds like ass: Could you perhaps be a bit more specific about your critique? Is that a human ass or animal? If animal, what species? Gender of said ass? A clothed or bare? Age? I could go on, but please, elucidate. And yes, I DO actually feel a bit better now, thanks.
Great demo. Tony Sims always knows what he's doing, and this showcases nicely both the most obvious usages of the pedal and the things you can do "farther out".
I love the history and the sound of those SUN records. Everybody talks about SUN records and rockabilly in country in the same sentence. Call Perkins and Johnny cash and Those top of acts definitely had that sound that you came legendary. Within obviously there's Elvis Presley and even Howlin Wolf, Rufus Thomas, lots of blues history recorded there
I'd love to hear how it does with blues. That famous rockabilly ( Carl Perkins, johnny cash, Scotty Moore) is there. No doubt. But the likes of howlin wolf and BB king recorded there too. Such a special place.. I love those early Elvis Sun records
Wow. The pedal is very specific. It sounds great. Don’t get me wrong. But It is really lo-fi. You are awesome anyway. And made such a good use of the pedal.
That is a custom built Brown Bear guitar by Jesse Brown in Canada. His guitars are WONDERFUL........A and yep, that's a TV Jones TV Classic in the neck, and a Zexcoil Tele bridge pickup.
I dig Keeley, but it this case,- one of the better Spring 'verbs and a Belle Epoch would do the job BETTER. I do like how he tries to address all these specific recording environments, but it's just tough to capture affordably in a standard small format pedal. From a broader, playing perspective, it's good to have the separate elements to combine for other applications.Pretty though, from a guy who grew up on Johnny.
Tried it and it was it was just Mudd both the slap and tile room reverb. I tried the settings from different videos and the pedal didn't sound anything like this 🤷🏼♂️
Your playing is great, that said Idk why the pedal sounds amazing in this video but i cant get a decent tone out of it. I genuinely want to like this pedal but it just sounds like ass.
