You can tell when you see footage of keeley from a couple of years ago to how she looks now at the paris olympics she has grown i mean her body looks at oeak fitness you can obviously see the difference she looks slimmer but also very strong and ypu realise how hard she must have worked as well as growing naturally personally i thjnk she still has another couple of gears to go thru and more heights to reach i honestly think if she stays committed for another few years she will be one of the greatest ever and i like that she is very girlie girlie likes life as a woman she is lovely all the very best to her

Honestly believe we have a new British superstar here, did the business in Paris, and looks in top form. A world title is inevitable, might or might not be next year, but maybe in 2027, and possibly a world record holder. And will still only be 26 when LA 2028 rolls around. In the interim will likely win Sports Personality of the Year or be placed and be made an MBE. Not bad for a girl from Leigh

A very insightful interview rather than the usual mundane questions athletes are often asked. From a psychological point of view it was interesting that Keely kept referring to 'Gold' which is a reward rather than 'winning' which she recognised as a potential risk (meaning that she could end up out of the medals).

Keely is such a lovely lady. She's gorgeous and fierce. A deadly combination. Her recent sub 1:55 performance in London was amazing! Her biggest competition in Paris may come from her Scottish teammate, Jemma Reekie.

Brilliant interview. Keely was just 1 when Sir Clive Woodward's England side won the Rugby World Cup which probs explains why she didn't recognise the name! That said, former Wigan Rugby League player, Jason Robinson, was in that brilliant side. And like Keely, he was fast!

Keely has a good racing brain, you can convince yourself beforhand what the best plan is. But racing is like war, your plan goes out of the window in the race, so no plan's just think on the run.

"if I really believe it it can happen" Genetically talented people always cite that. Most people could train from the cradle and never run like Keely. Olympic medals are handled out to genetically elite people who *also* are mentally strong. However if you dont have the natural physical talent you aint getting there.
@robws007
@robws007 Месяц назад
Half agree. Sure, there is a "self selection" but at the level of a world or Olympic final, ALL the athletes are genetically gifted. What separates them is mental toughness, sure, but a lot of discipline and preparation with their training. The most genetically gifted athlete won't win if they are out-of-shape and don't consider race tactics.

@jensmith3719
@jensmith3719 Месяц назад
And the huge amount of dedication to training throughout the year, entails a lot of pain and hard work, we witness the culmination of that hard work, genetics alone wont cut it, i think it must be annoying to elite athletes when people sometimes forget the sacrifices to be an athlete at this level peaking for one race that truly matters every four years,
@2011hwalker
@2011hwalker Месяц назад
@@jensmith3719 no one forgets the sacrifices. I have friends in professional sports. The 15th place person in the 800m rarely trains less than the gold medal winner. Everyone trains super hard at that level.

“If I really believe it it can happen.” What you’re touching upon is that this mindset is necessary for champions to rise from the elite. But, this mindset alone will not be sufficient for those without the requisite genetic gifts.

@jensmith3719 Месяц назад
she was actually unwell at Europeans but didnt say anything, you could see it in her face whilst running, showed true grit. Her worlds fastest time and fearless approach balanced with respect for her competitors makes her the one to beat, 6th fastest time ever behind four eastern block runners from decades ago, i think she is capable of challenging WR

How loud do you think she screamed when Athing Mu got tripped at the US Olympic trials? Massive pressure on her now. She just smashed 1.55 and with no Mu in the race everyone basically thinks she's already got the gold around her neck. Will she falter or thrive under the expectation?

Keely is chasing what Athing has already accomplished; thus, she is far more motivated. Athing's success appears to have been a blessing and curse...how do you stay motivated when you've accomplished so much at a young age and you want to taste other aspects of life. I hope she figures it out soon 'cause the Athing-Keely duels were entertaining.
