Adam is too underrated as an athlete. Ive seen him compete multiple times live and I tell you this guy sweep, pins and finishes other BBs and makes it look very effortlessly. Thank you for the upload of this match.
@@kenn3250 im curious if he could defeat keenan or Meregali now. I would love to see them compete against each other. But keenan doesnt compete anymore:(
Adam makes those hook sweeps seem easy! I am a huge worm guard fan and definitely will be studying Keenan's game on this match because he had very nice transitions and grips.
Im sure there are other fights and better fighters in his history, but that's about as evenly matched I've ever seen Keenan. Good for both opponents. Great, technical match.
Label guards seem to be effective against people who don’t know how to deal with them, the other me: that applies to every guard 😂. Kudos to Keenan on the win and what he has done for the sport.
@Porrada Everyday I actually started in 2009, but I went mia for 15 years :) I'm not taking away credit to the skill and ingenuity, but I'm allowed an opinion.
@Porrada Everyday I started in 2007 or 2008, can't remember now. Either way I'm not that new to bjj (although I admit it feels like that sometimes). Of course bjj is a sport and it's not trained predominantly for self-defence, I don't expect that. What I'd like is just not severing the connection completely. I wouldn't play a de la Riva guard to subdue an actual opponent, sure - while I use it in competitions. There is a difference between some of the "non-practical" moves though. Some of them fit in as just elements of the game - but they're not good for stalling. You'll be using them at an opportunity, and inevitably switching away from them. Others tend to BECOME THE GAME. The "worm guard" falls into that category to me. It's not the same thing. And of course it's not the only example. I don't particularly like the new school of "sit down on your ass and start playing with eachother's feet for ten minutes until you win on an advantage". It's a good thing, if overdue, that they took an action against it (penalties for passivity come much more quickly now). You can ruin a sport doing everything by the book; it happened before.
like fighting in pijamas is a combat sport, you got no gi for that (ADCC/MMA). Gi jiu jitsu went sport all the way and this funky stuff is to counter other high lvl control jiu jitsu on this lvl, they still know the 'basic' working shit
Adam should've won that. Keenan wouldn't trip him unless Adam pulled guard. But, these are the rules of the game and props to Keenan for realizing exactly how Adam would come out and execute that perfectly timed "trip".
Thé points were part of the rules and deserved… as for the concept- this punishes sloppy un technical guard pulling and at least raises the technical bar.. I know it’s a ground grappling art but stand up should at least get some respect
It is a pity adam make mistake when pull guard His modified butterfly sweep is cool he knows everbody will prevent him to insert the hook He just sweep at rdlr and shin on shin postion with butterfly sweep
@@jackthompson852 i've read the rules. it doesn't matter if Keenan advanced, sneezed or levitated. the rules are quite clear: the opponent has to FORCE you to the ground. not the case here. any takedown attempt must be initiated BEFORE a guard pull in order to count. against, not the case here (watch it in slow motion). there isn't any explicit distinction of advancing vs retreating in IBJJF rules - certainly not among the ones that apply to takedowns. if you question any of that: please quote the rulebook.
vibovitold ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pKa7jTTNf-c.html 2:50 You are absolutely correct. Just rewatched the IBJJF Takedown Tutorial.
Im a huge keenan fan but man he should have never leave atos. 2 years ago he would have murder this dude. (All respect to the dude, he fought very good)
I'm a fan of both these guys, but after seeing how much a stall worm guard is I think I'll stick with butterfly guard. I would be embarrassed to win a match like that.
Abc.
@@joshleondaris8664 but he didn't. you can watch it in slow motion here on YT. Adam was already off his feet by the time Keenan's leg even touched him (it wasn't a kick, and certainly didn't affect the movement). it is perhaps an excusable mistake on the ref's part - you do need slow motion to tell for sure. but a mistake nevertheless. these points shouldn't have been awarded.
@Porrada Everyday Im building a gym and managing a business that will provide for me and my family for a lifetime. there is nothing lazy about focusing on things that last longer than a brief career in a sport that doesnt pay you to compete. gordon will see this when hes approaching thirty too.
@keenan thank you for responding I am a great fan. I do see what you are talking about because I’m in my 40s and no disrespect I have made some changes in my game because of you. All I wanted to say is that if you use some traditional stuff along with your new guards then I think you could be on to something good. But keep up the good work
@@fritzdagger great to see your insight Keenan. I completely agree. While I'm only a purple belt, I'm 33 and you really start putting things into perspective when you get to your thirties. Hopefully by then people start to play the long game because time is a commodity you can't get back.
Keenan is EASILY the most boring person to watch. Worm guard, no doubt powerful is a fucking snooze fest. 2 points for a "trip" lol Everything that's wrong with IBJJF on show here. Still a shit show 3 years later.
