I've mixed feelings about Coliauta's approach to the written piece by Zappa as clearly Zappa wrote a bass line corresponding to groupings.of 7+7+5 with accents on the 3 of the 7s and the 1 and 3 of the 5. It altogether equals 19/16 but Coliauta plays two 8ths plus 3. It's works overall but the bass line is really where the challenge is as a musician. The drum tutor in this video though plays the original Coliauta groove with amazing musicality and feel. Very impressive. I only note a wish he had also took exception to the compositional liberty the then young Coliauta took by overlaying his own maths , a two bar standard time with a three 16th skip at the end, instead of matching the far more difficult bass guitar beat displacement for emphasis of the intended musical motif
