I love permaculture and letting the wild in, but there is value in keeping things tidy, as well. What do you think is best? A combination of both?

On my homestead I must mow around my fruit trees if I don’t want the rabbits and voles to girdle them. Also, ticks thrive in tall grass. Great video!

We get ticks pretty bad, too. Not so bad as before we had these guineas though. Do y’all have guineas?

@@CopperheadRoadHomestead We don’t have guineas because they are loud and we have a large predator population so they probably wouldn’t last long if they free ranged.

Thanks for recapping on the advice about the weed barrier Daniel, That will definitely come in handy. Still happy, healthy, hydrated and safe. Address in safe. And my God continued to bless you and your family

LETTING IT OVER GROW A BIT IS GOOD FOR THE LAND BUT MAINTENANCE WISE I THINK KEEPING IT TIDY IS THE BEST POLICY. IT GIVES YOU A SENSE OF ACCOMPLISHMENT WHEN EVERYTHING LOOKS GOOD AND MAKES PLANTING NEW THINGS QUICK IF THE SOIL IS ALREADY WORKED AND PREPPED. SO MUCH EASIER TO KEEP ON TOP OF THINGS WHEN YOU CAN SEE WHAT YOU ACTUALLY HAVE. JUST KEEP ON CLEARING AREAS LIKE THIS AND YOU WILL SOON WHIP EVERYTHING INTO SHAPE THERE 👍 GREAT VIDEO BUDDY, CHEERS FOR POSTING 😀

Looks and feels so much nicer when we keep it tidy. I think this is what I do from now on!

Do the best you can. With all the rain we’ve had, there is no way to stay on top of weeds, You are doing a fantastic job! Hope Ruia and baby are doing well.

I've noticed a definite lack of bees this year. I've seen no honey bees and only a few small bumblebees. Not good. Plants that bloomed prolifically last year barely bloomed at all this year. Raspberries are very small. Some plants never bloomed at all. 😞

I have noticed the same thing, and also the lack of butterflies. I have plenty of plants targeted at attracting pollinators so that isn't an issue.

I’ve noticed bees here in western Kentucky. They’re loving my catnip. Almost always see bees on them. I’m hoping to get our apiary going soon. That’ll help out stuff big time!
