Lead Pretendo dev here: 104-XXXX errors are related to the BOSS (SpotPass) system module. Splatoon uses this to download data like Splatfest configs, stage rotations, etc. We aren't sure why Splatoon is having this issue, so far it seems unreported directly to us (I'm hearing about it for the first time from this video) We're looking into it
If you don’t have a Wii U, but you’re interested in the untapped and limitless potential of a modded Wii U, it’s not too late. The console itself is pretty cheap and there’s so many games you can buy on the 2nd hand online market. And it will only be easier and safer to mod a Wii U now that Nintendon’t care about it.
Many DS games can be played using Virtual Console, and you can easily pirate them. Yes, pirate them, it's not our fault Nintendo shut down the eShop on Wii U.
I missed the DNS/SSSL of all this in the twitter discussion - but this is amazing, thanks for putting this together so fast! I literally clicked because I was like "how the hell could it only take 3 minutes to explain" and am super happy to see this crazy simple way to instantly hop back in!
@@Baker_memesthe good part of Pretendo is that they found on the system one unused function Nintendo haven’t used never. Yes , you can have more than one account for one single system and it works thanks to Pretendo. I hope @gamexplain makes a video about the 3DS as well.
@@Baker_memesapparently there are two accounts on a 3DS, and that's how Pretendo works on a modded 3DS. It forces the 3DS to use the other account. Also many online features don't use the account at all, just things like eShop and Badge Arcade. It may be possible to do in the future, but only time will tell.
I really hope they add Smash 4 support. It's disappointing to see that it's not supported already, but I guess they must still be working on it at the moment.
The only things still missing are Badge Arcade and what's left of Rusty's Baseball. Unless they figure that out, they're vaporware ;_; Oh well, it's nice to see Mario Kart 7 still active once again for the time being
Just as a point, I know there are several browser exploits that let you boot homebrew without modding your console. I'm not sure if save data transfer is available through that method, but it may be worth looking into!
Now we just need to get LEGO Dimensions up & working on the servers along with all the other 3rd party online games not yet back online for 3DS & WiiU.
@@Supersonic37838 That’s how you got all the different parts of the game that where added after the initial launch once they released the different add-on packs you could purchase in stores.
With a modded Wii U you'll need Nimble as well. Then it should work better. Yesterday I also tried to get into matches, sometimes you need to wait very long but it works😊
I had the Problem too it’s because the Save data is carried over from your main account so you need to do is go on your Pretendo account settings and click Splatoon and delete share Save data and it will connect in to Splatoon. So just Delete Share save data and it will work. You will even get to play Splatfest too some day.
Can you still have your original NNID on the same Wii U as your Pretendo ID? I don't wanna risk losing any of the virtual console games I bought on my NNID. And what happens if I choose to use my Nintendo account one day instead of my Pretendo one will it get banned
Really glad to see the community as alive as it is. Does anyone know how to fix error code 102-2160 whilst trying to connect to an id? I did everything as shown :/
That's exactly how I set it up: a new user just for Pretendo. All my previous accounts are still on the system and work fine, besides online of course -Andre
If you change DNS, the console will always target the Pretendo servers. It won't even allow you to connect to your Nintendo accs anymore. If you want to access your Nintendo Account again (which will be useless cuz the servers are down), you need to set DNS to "auto obtain" again to unlink from the Pretendo network. But until you reconnect to the Pretendo DNS again, you won't be able to use Pretendo, obviously. It's just a ways of telling your console which server to target. Either the Nintendo ones or Pretendo
quick question, not sure how to word it but ill try.. When you make a new account on the wii u to link your pretendo id to, is it only that account that is on the pretendo network or is the whole wii u console running on the pretendo network instead of being offline?
It only works with the Pretendo Account unfortunately, as thats the one that's connecting and works with their servers. The Nintendo Account works and connects to Nintendo's Servers, which no longer exist
When you're connected to the Pretendo network (either through DNS or mod) all Nintendo Network functions get redirected to Pretendo. If you try to use your NNID it will just infinitely prompt you to enter your password and it won't work, you can only use your PNID for online games (if you just dismiss the password screen, offline should work fine, but it would be better to just turn off Pretendo if for some reason you want to go back to your NNID). IDK if this answers the question though
Ah, nice. When I first heard about Pretendo I was immediately like "What? Would you even have to mod? What if I just swap servers using DNS?" And I was a bit worried it might use built-in certificates to verify servers, but… hey, nice it works like this after all.
Unfortunately, you would need to Mod your 3DS, especially since a normal 3DS can only have 1 Account on it, but a Modded 3DS makes use of an unused feature on the 3DS that does allow for multiple user accounts
I’ll keep it in mind if I ever feel the need to use Wii u online. Can’t say I’m particularly bothered at present. And I don’t wanna have to set up a new email adress
It’s extremely easy to mod a Wii U and a 3DS to get the full Pretendo experience if you know how to read and follow exact instructions. Literally all you need to do. Also, I recommend creating the Pretendo Network ID through your console instead of their website or you won’t be able to set your region and birthday, if that matters to you.
I sold my copy of Splatoon a few months ago in preparation for the servers shutting down and never being able to play the online again. I thought, what was the point of owning the game when 90% of the content was gone? However, with this news, I am looking into buying a used copy online in order to try this out for myself.
How do I change my user info, Pretendo site says change it via the console but when I try I get Error Code 120-9023, on Mario Kart I registered as USA and wish to change to UK if possible.
For Splatoon, I was able to connect to matches with a non-modded Wii U, but I got a lot of connection errors and "Other console didn't respond" errors. Also, something weird was going on, several matches that were turf war ended up being random ranked modes with splatfest versions of the stages instead and were scored on turf instead of objective.
Does It work with Mario maker? I tried entering the 100 Mario Challenge and It stays loading for a while and a screen pops up saying "service currently unavailable, try again later"
Juxtaposition is like a pseudo 'Miiverse' revival, but with Pretendo. You need to mod your Wii U and 3DS in order to access it. You can post, comment, and draw in communities just like in Miiverse. It's pretty cool!
I tried playing online on cemu (version 2.0-73) and I was having the same issue with splatoon. I solved it by updating the game. Is your game already updated to the latest version?
Is there a way to get virtual console games on it? I only got a Wii U last year. I missed out on getting all the Metroid games on one system as well as all the Zelda games.
how can I do it with a wii remote I don't have gamepad would be nice some answer thk u I played my wii u everyday since 2012 to 2024 and I don,t have switch pls a little help guys, personal feelings
I was so pissed because I was in the middle of setting up to stream I was about to hook up my new Nintendo 3DS capture card to my PC to start streaming Mario Kart 7 online on my channel and then I heard it disconnect and my heart dropped I was upset for the whole day at least we have pretendo though, but Nintendo pulled the plug too soon if Nintendo could have let us have Nintendo network for at least two more years I feel like that would give pretendo enough time to critique and further develop their services for Wii U and 3DS so when Nintendo network does finally go offline which wasn't supposed to be on the 8th in my opinion then pretendo servers would finally be fully ready because right now they're still in development which is good but also bad, there's going to be games we're not able to play for a good minute online until they themselves implement it in their servers, Nintendo did this too soon I'm not saying things are going to last forever as all things must come to an end but they could have lasted a bit longer before doing this😭
Wait so what if all my e-mails were already used for a NNID? Do I need to create a new email address then? The website seems to only mention usernames as being an issue.
