Hi everyone! So this video is different than previous home videos! It is a full walk through of what I did to have a full system in my truck using Audio Control's LC7i, a Kicker 5 channel amp, JL Audio 6x9's, tweeters, Kicker 10" subs, full hook up and a must watch to see how I managed to get this to work and sound to the top of it's peak! I even managed to find and provide the speaker wires colors, which was very rough to find! Another hard portion was making sure the LC7i was powered correctly, which I provided on how to do it. Please watch before installation! And yes this same process works for any vehicle! The only difference will be speaker wire colors, I'm assuming. You're a pretty awesome dude for taking all this time to try to help folks. I've done it a hundred times, but I'm smart enough to know I'll never be smart enough and wise enough to know I'll never know everything, so I figured WTH. The radio does not control any of the vehicle settings, it's simply used to access them from the cars computer. You could have used any aftermarket radio that's compatible with the idatalink maestro which then allows you to access all those same settings from the aftermarket radio. I replaced the same Uconnect radio with a Kenwood excelon ddx9903 in my Jeep Renegade.

Channel 3 is used if you have a factory sub, you can tap in there and get clean loud bass.

Great video man. Didn't you need to install line resistors such as AC-LGD 20 Ohms or 47 Ohms? I'm doing a similar install on Jeep Wrangler JLU and many have instructed to use them when going into the LC7i?

Question, So I'm purchasing the same LOC, But I want to hook up, 4 door speakers, 2 tweeters and a sub. Will this lc2i7 be sufficient enough? I noticed you didn't say where you hooked you tweeters up to.

Great vid! Easy way to figure out the speaker wire colors is to just strip the ends off and connect them to a 9v battery and see which speaker makes noise.

Have to ask this question; when someone is sitting on sub, how does that effect the speaker sound? Does someone sitting on the speaker does it eventually damage the speaker? Thank you for the video.

You are absolutely right.Most factory systems the mids and highs are usually sufficient ( for me) off the factory amp.The problem is always lack of bass ( especially if you've been used to 10's and 12's in your vehicles).Just get some decent subs or sub( JL) and a clean mono amp ( JL).

Ok wait what?? Now I'm confused, so behind the head unit you cut the speaker wires and ran them to the LOC. Then the other end that originally went to the speakers now run to the amp?

noticed on the AudioControl LC7i, no speaker wires are connected to 3sets of channels which the sub rca are attached on the other end. Did you enable summing or adjust any jumpers to have this work? my current build will be just like this except ill run speaker cables from all speakers directly into the amps.

1.) Dodge stopped making trucks in 2009. The truck in this video is not a “Dodge Ram”. It’s a Ram 1500. 2.) The easiest way to add more bass to your factory Ram speaker system without a bunch of extra BS… install whatever subs you desire and power the sub using a mono block amp that has *speaker level inputs* included. Wire the amp using the speaker wire from your Ram’s factory sub (or a factory rear speaker if no factory sub). Then run power to your amp. Done. Nothing complicated about it. Adding extra equipment to get a line level/low power input source for your amp is over complicating things when there are amps with speaker level inputs to solve this exact issue. It’s literally why speaker level/high power inputs on amplifiers exist. To easily add an amp and speakers into an existing factory stereo system.

Is it necessary to cut factory unit harness? Can I just tap in the speakers wires at two points (1 for the LC7i and 1 for the 5 channel amp). Reason I ask, if I decide to sell the vehicle I would hate to have to leave my equipment just so the buyer can have sound?

Ch 3 is mainly for sub input , if your channel 1 and 2 frequency is not low enough then you would need to connect the sub to make sure you get a full range signal.

You said you had to tap into the front speakers to get the lc7i got to work. How did you tap into the speakers when you added all new ones? Then you connected the 9 wire to the stock speaker wire and ran it to the lc7i. So where is the taping into at happening?

Do you have to cut your harness the harness still plug in the head unit run to the lc7i then the wires left hanging rub that to the 4 channel amp

It keeps coming on when you open the door because obviously whatever 12v source you have chosen to tie into, is connected to the relay that turns on, when the door switch is flipped, when the door gets open. And then yes, luckily for you, the LC7i DOES have built in circuitry to be able to sense that there is no signal voltage coming through your “input” connection, telling it that there is in fact NOT music being played. Need to hook it up to a different switched 12V+ source brother.

Great job you explained everything well. I watched it while I was hooking mine up. I’ve got some fine tuning to do but it went good. No matter how many times I mess around putting systems together the part that makes me uneasy is the first time you reconnect the negative battery terminal, especially if you’re using capacitors!!! 😁

You probably had your rca cables switched. Reason for front being rear and rear being front. Didn't have to switch speaker wires

I had a lc2i hooked up to the rear speakers because they're full range speakers, hooked those same speaker wire up to channel one on the lc7i and it powered on so I don't get what you're stating it doesn't work on channel one, that you need front door speakers hooked up to channel one ....

Hey have you had any problems by cutting the wires behind the radio, I have heard that some people say the audio cut out randomly for no reason. Even one guy said that he's radio lock the audio on him. Then there's a website that they sell like t-harneses with resistor so the radio has signal and still send audio out. So is why I'm kind of scare to cut the wires behind my 8.4 radio and then lock the audio on me. Let me know how is been running I appreciate. Thanks for the video.

Don't forget that the LC7i requires a 2 amp fuse holder just to be safe. considering the damn thing costs 150$

Give you guys a heads up if your seeing a delay in your bass like i did in my 2016 f150 that means you have a crossover built into the rear speakers which is how you get you sub for channel 3 heres a tip run jumpers from channel 1 into channel 3 then open up the lc7i and change the setting to manual not auto mode and it works wonders because most factorys have crossovers in there speakers at least on 1 of there speaker lines mostly its the rear speakers has them

jrock9761 there are three channels of RCA outputs. One of those channels will go to your 4 channel amplifier

Nope..dont need input from channel 3. Just need to go inside the lc7i and make sure its in automode and the lc7i will make a signal for sub out with the channel 1 and channel 2 inputs

You could of just went with Skar Audio and paid less than a thousand and gotten a much better system overall. 12" EVL Bass Package (Comes with: Wiring, Amp, 2 Subs, Box) $775 (IF your only getting one sub kits they are half this cost) Sk series speakers (front and back) - (if you buy these after the Bass Package you can use the "points" from the bass package to get them for free...) RP-75.4AB Amp and 8g Wiring Kit for speakers $170 Spool of speaker wire at Walmart for $20 Big 3 Wire Kit $60 Tools : $50 Total: 1,015 and your system will slam and sound amazing....and its higher grade than Kicker.. Use the saved money and buy a Pioneer 80PRS

skar is not better quality, there subs are designed to just be louder and have less actual articulation. Kicker is much better. You get what you pay for.

@@bradleysproul5478 They play louder, lower, have more options for handling more power input, are able to be reconed/rebuilt with alternative brands. The Zvxv2 is the same cost as the L7 and the Zvxv2 (and even their vxf series) will outperform the L7 in every aspect at the same cost. Their SKv2 amps rival the best names in the industry. If you paid the same amount of money in hobbyist grade brands as you do for Kicker you will get better product because your not paying for just a brand name. There is a reason most audiophiles, enthusiast, competitors dont use Kicker....its mostly comprised of using the same old designs sprinkled with fresh marketing...the same type of marketing that Beats by Dre/Monster and other companies use that newcomers or unaffiliated will believe in.

@@Raymo2uI’ve ran skar and was disappointed with some of their products. Their 4 channel amps used for highs have an annoying hiss to them. Ran them In different vehicles with different set ups and same outcome. Secondly some of their subs have horrible mechanical noise. I put the ZVX 8s up against DC Audio 8s and the DC embarrassed the Skar on less power.

This is not rocket science. The LC7 is being powered by the same power that the dome light is being powered (dome light shuts off after a time delay). If you want your system to hit hard and sound way better disconnect the sub from the 5 channel amp. Don't use the fifth channel. Buy a mono amp for your subs. You are under powering those subs. Trust me, you'll thank me later. Even if you don't want to bump real loud those subs sound 1,000 times better when properly powered and hooked up properly. Holy shit, don't listen to this guy.... I just heard the part about the screws for the subs and the wiring and I'm sorry bro, you don't have a clue what you are doing. Not trying to be rude but people are being misinformed.

Google how to hook up speakers or search you tube. Check out Rockford Fosgates web site. They have tutorials. Also, ........... The in-line fuse on the main power cable, mounted within six inches or so of the battery connection, is essential for protecting the wire, your car, and you from a catastrophic fire in the event of a short circuit.

I'm a bit confused about one thing from the video. When connecting the speaker wires to the LC7i and the amp, are you saying that the wires connected to the radio go to the LC7i and the wires in the harness go to the amp? Or do the wires from the radio go to the amp and the wires from the harness go to the LC7i?

@ekim andersom if your not using the same harness for the door speakers in this case, how do you run then speaker output to the door speakers? I am upgrading the door speakers with components and xover and think i need to run all new speaker wire. Hu signal to lc7i then rca to 4ch amp, then new speaker wire to new crossover ignoring the existing harnesses. Is this correct?

jacob meh... unless you’re adding a monster amp, you could still utilize the factory speaker harness from the HU. My 2019 Ram has 18AWG wires from factory which are more than enough resistance wise for a 75 watt RMS AMP per channel.
