Keep this AIP drink mix in your pantry!

This AIP Drink Mix makes 10 drinks:
2.5 tsp Mace (or Nutmeg as a Stage 1 Reintro or for Paleo)
2.5 tsp Ground Cloves
5 tsp Ground Ginger
5 tsp Ground Cinnamon
3 tablespoons Coconut or Maple Sugar
5 tsp Vanilla Powder (Optional)
Optional: 1.5 cups Coconut Milk Powder
When making the latte, mix 1 tablespoon of the mix with 1 cup hot or cold milk of choice.
If you added coconut milk powder, mix 3 tablespoons of the mix with 1 cup of hot water.
Enjoy!

I really want to try this recipe? I’m easing myself into AIP. What milk would you recommend? Nut and rice milk isn’t allowed, correct?

@@kristen8101 correct. Coconut milk is typically the easiest as you can buy it in the can (but look for one that is guar gum free like Native Forest) but you can also make your own using shredded coconut (I show you how here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nGvjAqH_fDo.html )

Thanks for this recipe! I’ve been wanting to drink something in the morning to replace my mushroom chicory. I’ve been diagnosed with hashimotos and pots. Had a terrible stomach episode in 2022. They couldn’t figure out what caused it but I’m starting to think this is all gut related.

It was actually really bitter and made a very thick drink. 1 tablespoon was definitely too much for me!

@@Liddlegreenbees sorry about that! Most likely if it was bitter it was your mace - sometimes mace can be bitter and sometimes it isn't - depends on the individual container. I've had 2 of the same exact brand and one was extremely bitter and one was great. So you just might want to keep that in mind when you use it in other dishes as well - use a lot less than it indicates.

Are mushrooms prohibited on AIP? My favorite winter chai tea includes Chaga but I can't have the tea while following AIP because of other ingredients. I would love to slip the Chaga into this recipe. But I haven't found whether mushrooms are ok or not. I'm only 3 weeks into starting and you're such an encouragement for me. Thanks!

So sorry for the late reply - so I think this one recently changed as it used to be a "no" due to the immune stimulating properties of some of the medicinal mushrooms. But Dr. Sarah Ballantyne has since changed her stance a bit as they can be so helpful. This is her article talking about it: www.thepaleomom.com/the-power-of-medicinal-mushrooms-an-overview/ That all being said - I took cordyceps the whole time I did AIP and I was fine - so even if it's not "allowed" I think you're probably ok to try it.

Not for AIP - coffee is a seed so that's why it's eliminated, not so much because of the caffeine. In fact, you can have small amounts of black or green tea on AIP.

I got mine on Amazon - this one: amzn.to/357Sxe4 (you just want to make sure there aren't a lot of weird ingredients - the Acacia fiber and Tapioca Maltodextrin are ok - but some have Maltodextrin made from corn)

This is the one I've been using for the last year (it takes me about 1.5 years to make it through a bag): amzn.to/3JYBfP9 I like it - i mean I don't eat it by itself so I can't say I'm a connoisseur of vanilla powders, but it does the job 😂

i thought any type of sugar or sweet is not good for people with autoimmune issues? doesn’t sugar cause more inflammation???

You can have small amounts of sugar - it's definitely not recommended to have a ton or go overboard and eat sweets every day or anything. But a small amount in a drink like this or a dessert every so often is just fine.

I started having bleeding from my gums on and off since last year. my autoimmune issues suddenly started in august of 2020. it’s like every day week or month something new starts. the bleeding would be for about 1-2 mins then stop. it had stopped for a few months then suddenly began last week. would just be sitting there and would start tasting a saltiness in my mouth then when i spit it’s blood. no pain or swelling of gums just a salty taste that doesn’t seem to want to go away now. what do u think could be causing this. told docs and they haven’t found anything yet. all my tests over a year just show inflammation. they haven’t tested my mineral levels etc except vitamin D which is now 122.

My dad and I love your videos, but I just wanted to let you know that coconut/date sugar aren’t paleo/aip; because it has no difference of an impact on blood sugar and insulin from regular sugar.

No, they are Paleo/AIP because they're natural sugars, but they are definitely meant to be consumed in moderation because you're correct in that they have no difference in impact on blood sugar. But if you're concerned with blood sugar, also be careful with a lot of the carbs on AIP - like tapioca starch, cassava flour, arrowroot flour, plus even sweet potatoes and squash. You should check out my blood sugar series since I go into detail on how badly some of these affect my own blood sugar! @@MicheleSpring According to Loren Cordain, coconut and date sugar are not paleo. Same thing with tapioca and cassava, as they are part of potato, which also isn’t paleo.

@@MicheleSpring I know people on paleo like to go through different sources as to what is/isn’t paleo. I like to go straight through Dr. Cordain, so far he hasn’t led me astray. But I do enjoy your recipes and videos! Cordain had said it’s not paleo, due to it needing to be processed, as well as it having no difference on blood sugar impact from traditional sugar. Anyhow, I was just letting you know in hopes of being helpful. :) Have a great day! Thank you for your videos.

@@Crystal11Skulls ah, yeah, so the version of AIP I talk about (and what most bloggers write recipes for, etc) is the version by Dr. Sarah Ballantyne. Hers is originally based off of his, but she's done a lot of research to figure out what typically affects people with AI disease (based on tons of studies, research, etc) and so there is a bit of a divergence as she came to the conclusion that it wasn't necessary to exclude some things like that as long as it is in moderation. But yeah, either way works!

If you're on AIP then more ginger might do the trick, but if you're not on AIP then add a 1-2 teaspoons or so of ground black pepper to the whole mix (depending on how spicy you like it)
