I import hundreds of these fish into the country for retail sales and your comment about them not adapting to captive life well is spot on. Thank you for making that comment.
mIne was great....quarrantined for about a month. Used copper. Introduced into display tank and did fine for 2 yrs until I moved and sold it. and tank. Treat them and get them introduced properly and minimize stress and these will do well. Should be last fish added though...
Definitely a dominating fish had a large one I also nursed through ick I firmly believe they will get it at some point but if healthy will survive. Beautiful majestic fish!
Hi 🎉 im on my 4 rodio trying to keep one so far it's been a week. He s eating flakes and live brine. But seaweed I did attach seaweed to rock 😅 I haven't look at it.
Nice video. Just picked myself up a nice pbt and a couple other tangs recently for my 300. They're all in qt eating like pigs. Powder blues definitely the boss of the group.
I'm pretty sure all fish have ich and when they stress that's when ich shows it self. I could be wrong. My regal came out in a few spots. I added another heater to my sump added a UV and did a water change and believe it or not couple days later not a spot on the regal. Personally I Think chasing a fish to catch him and put him in a separate tank stresses the fish more. Just my pennies worth
My powder blue was fine was never aggressive until I got a Sailfin tang his whipping it with his tail and take nibs my sailfin is so calm he don’t even fight back just tries to swim away is messing up his fin I’m concerned
great video mate, cant wait to get a powder blue myself .. i feel like if you take the appropriate steps and give the fish the time/love it deserves in the early stages .. QT/Hyposalinity & get it eating well/happy before addition to the reef your really setting yourself up for success with a pb tang .. good work scott .. how long have you had your pb ? obviously theres alot of other things that are very important also like tank size/environment/diet etc
Hey I got a naso tang and powder blue tang, introduced them together. The naso is slowly getting used to the tank eating swimming fine. The powder blue tang just swims in circles slowly not erratically. I have a big tank so the size is not the issue and it doesn’t eat? Any tips?
Hey Scott, thanks for the great post about your powder blue. I'm looking at stocking my tank with a few tangs and was curious, do Acanthurus tangs all display the same traits or qualities as the powder blue's do? Or are there others which are more suited to a home aquarium? So would the convict or powder brown be possibly "easier"? Thanks again for the great videos, keep 'em coming!
Patrick Hanlon i haven't owned all of them but by reputation they're all pretty aggressive. I haven't owned one but i hear Orange shoulder tangs are less aggressive.
My Desjardini Sailfin is the bully in my tank. He picks on my Powder Brown who is absolutely harmless. You never know what you are gonna get with these fish. 😝
my powder blue doesn't like it's kind, not only it's kind it killed 3 of powder brown it hates am. on top of everything i let the tank be fishless for 90 days with UV light on, damm ICK is in my tank i cannot get it off my tank, i tried everything, my poor blue tang is more ick on am then powder or any another tang i got purple seems ok gem is ok but blue is NOT will he die?
How do you cure odinium in tank? How many time in quarantine? The leuco is a sensible fish and suffer the stress, do you agree? My favorite fish, i love the life style 🙂he's a pit bull fish
Great video... wish I could keep one. But unfortunately I was forced to cross that one of my list by my Achilles Tang. His personality is just like your PB. AGGRESSIVE! At least he’s beautifully look at. Lol
Have you ever kept lemon peel mimic tangs as I have fallen in love with this fish I am also looking in to getting the glorious wrasse and mimic file fish do you think they will be ok together
I have a fish that always have ich, even I treat him with copper. I think i have ich in my display tank. Because every time he goes back to the display he will get ich. All other fish are fine. What can I do.
Awkward Fish The only way to get the ich out of the tank is to remove all the fish from the tank, Treat them with copper medication and leave the tank fallow for 4-6 weeks. I've done a few videos on this. I think you if you watch them it will get you where you need to be.
Awkward Fish I'm in the same boat with my fish. There's a small amount of ich in it. Once in a while a fish will show a couple of spots. It doesn't seem to hurt anything but i can't get the fish out to treat it. I live with ich and its been fine for years. I don't do anything to manage it. You can always try a tang and see how it goes.
I'll do a black tang video soon. I buy nori from the Asian food section of Walmart. Its $2 and is exactly the same as the aquarium stuff. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NLymUXsSdZQ.html
Hey Scott! I'm having some ich outbreak in my 90 Gallon mixed reef. I heard ginger powder is the best and safest way to remove ich because it won't harm the corals and the inverts. Is it really true? Thanks
I have added a powder blue tang and he killed my powder brown. Now I’m adding a fox face rabbit fish and he’s trying to kill him too.. smh im gonna have to sell him.
JonsReef okay forsure. All my fish died a week ago. Idk why. And idk if I should add new fish... it’s been hard to get rid of the algae since I added little gravel instead of the caribsand .. I might just go back to discus
Should I keep it completely alone? Can I put snails, shrimp etc. Or does it have to be COMPLETELY alone. I don't wanna put it in a tank with other fish
I had a powder blue for 1 year. I got it from a friend who was getting out of the hobby so don't judge please. He was in a 80 gallon deep blue rimless. He was an absolute bully. He killed 4 blue chromis, 3 anthias, and my fire dart fish. Needless to say I had enough of him and gave him back to the fish store. I wouldn't recommend this fish in any tank smaller than 125 6ft tank. I would make sure this is the last fish you put in because any fish you put in after it, will probably be beat up by the powder blue.
Got a small question or if anyone can help me out I got a Euphyllia cristata grape coral purple tip it wont open, all my other corals are open and are growing I just got him about 4 days ago .
My blue trigger not mean I had never had him beating on new fish. I have 3 tangs I want to add this powder blue tang. But it will handle my my clown tag and my lurner wrasse. I have 150 reef Aquarium and yes I do have 240 just sitting empty for now. My friend it would kill everyone and every thing . If I do but it. I have 90 saltwater put it in there see how it is have pair mean big clown s😊
I gave my powder blue a 30 Day QT and I left it in Cupramine for about 20 days. On a healthy new fish I do a 10 day QT. Its an unusual QT but I've been very successful with it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-l7_PwgexVR4.html
