In this video, Adam explains the hip bump works at set up. By initiating the hip bump at set up, it will prevent you from unnecessary sliding and swaying throughout the swing. It creates a post and brace in your legs which will ultimately create a more consistent turn. Adam also goes over keys to becoming a great player mentally. Mason is prepping for his conference championships and goes through his thought process leading up to the big tournament.

I’ve watched every instructor on RU-vid for 2 years but tour backswing has completely revolutionized my iron striking. No more weak shots and tighter dispersion. The hip bump back and forward is a game changer. Even the driver is longer. I’m hitting shots directly at pins although the my be short or long. My issue now is getting distances consistent now that I added 5 yards to 5 iron down.

The explanation of the hip bump not being lateral but slightly rotational is a key nuance explained. Also helps start the rotational pendulum.

Along with the “hammer the nail” tip, the “hip bump” made me shoot 76 today: the lowest score I turned in in one year, with a ton of flushed irons, tshots and stiffed wedges. Sensational coaching: I can’t thank you enough Adam.

After watching your videos for the past couple of weeks, I took it straight to the course (no range work) and experienced a noticeable improvement.... consistent straight ball flight, hit every fairway and had my best scoring round of the year. Looking forward to putting in the work. WR

I set-up with too much weight on the trail leg. I’ve had numerous instructors say “put more weight on the lead leg at address” or sitting into the trail leg as you explained. I’ve had a hard time with that (bumping the hips too far forward only) until I saw this example of the hip bump going slightly back at 45° and getting the femur on top of the lead leg. Say goodbye to my hip pain.

The hip bump is so interesting. If you look at tour players almost none of them have it at set-up. (Henrik Stenson clearly uses it as a trigger). They do achieve it once they are at impact, almost all of them have a slight sway but for an average golfer that is very hard to time perfectly. It’s almost as the porzak golf swing is smack in the middle of the traditional golf swing and stack and tilt, pre-setting the hip impact position but still turning your body. Atleast that’s my impression of it.

Ironically a year ago I used to use the hip bump and I played my best golf. I’ve been playing for 2 years and only a year in I started using the hip bump went from 80s to shooting par and then being -6 through 8. I stopped using it and my game went from those amazing scores to 80s and sometimes even 90s and lost a bunch of distance lol

Adam, I know you’re onto big things here and are teaching some high level players. But I’m just thinking on the level of a 5.3 handicap, and more for my higher handicap type of guys. I think the number 1 non negotiable that a person learning the game should first learn a punch shot. Weird thing I’ve found out with my game. If anything is off driver, irons, wedges, putter it always is due to overswing or run off being disconnected. If my game is off I shorten up and it comes back almost instantly. For instance I just allowed myself to play the other day not focusing on anything and I couldn’t get off the tee, playing a lot of golf I felt it after I played the reason I was off only hit 19 percent fairway. On a good day I carry driver about 275. Next time out I said I’m just going to shorten up get in the fairway, 85 percent fairway. Only thought I had was this video shorten up 3/4 swing. Average carry was 268 and I wasn’t out there putting anything into it. People need to shorten up stay in balance stop this lifting the heel and kill method for “power”. I have had great days swinging hard out of my shoes and have carried over 300, but all off balance in the follow through. Idc if it Carrie’s that far if I hit the shot and I finish off balance I feel like it’s a terrible shot and a terrible way to play the game

Porzak has cleaned my backswing up immensely, previously I was outside and picking it up (think M wolfe but ugly lol), so I got really used to dropping it/shallowing it to get even remotely close to on plane on the way down. My problem now that I'm more connected and on plane in the backswing, is I'm still dumping it and getting way under it on the way down now....any ideas to stop that?

@MrMuckymouse 7 месяцев назад
I didn’t get it for years because for me everytime people explained it I ended up laterally moving or sliding The actual feel for me to get it right is once you’re at the top of your backswing, feel like youre pushing your left butt cheek, directly backwards, imagine there’s a wall behind you and you are trying to push your butt back and touch the wall with you left cheek (right for handers obviously) Was a game changer when I found that Stopped slicing it immediately and hit my drives so straight now

Adam- when left hip bumps back and toward target (to 7pm position on a clock) what does the right hip do? That is- when done correctly are both hips still parallel to the target line or are the hips now angled open?
@rhysroberts1582
@rhysroberts1582 Год назад
This is also my big question to get the bump clear in my mind. Does the left hip just drop back slightly from the line of toes ? If so do shoulders stay on line of feet. I know that clarification on this is going to be big for me ! 👍

I would say try to film from the top view. I get what he says and it does work, but it is hard to sometimes gety. Take your left but cheek back and to the left like you are going to 7PM-8PM on a clock.
@bobp.6337
@bobp.6337 Год назад
Ok. But what does right hip/butt cheek do. Also move to 7:00 (to keep hips parallel to target line) or stays where it is (which would then angle the hips)????
@GB-xh7hv
@GB-xh7hv Год назад
@@bobp.6337 If you are set up, straight ahead is 12PM. You take your left butt cheek back to 7/8 pm. 45 degree angle. You can really feel that right knee as a brace if you do it properly. It's a strong feeling. The right will move accordingly.
