How I got a bigger cage was it was my mom who did not want me to spend the money so they let me make the bin cage and how I convised my parent for my hamster was research and care for our family dog and then I said we needed to go to petco for a dog supply then I was like look at the cute hamster and then I feel in love. They said fine but if Her cage counsantly smelled and I was not paying for anything (they did say they would help some but I would pay most) she would be rehomed. Now my mom loves pipsqueak so much every time she come in my room she talks to her
my mum didn't like animals at all, but one day, after a lot of begging, she told me I could have a hamster. She fell in love with him as much as me and from then she got the family a cat and a range of different species of stick and leaf insects! I take care of them all but she really likes them now. it's a bit weird but I'm super happy
J Pucci the same happened when I got my rabbit! my mom was kind of indifferent at first because she doesn’t like rodents (or rodent like in this case) but after a while she’d go into my room when I was at school and play with him, she’d send me pictures and it made me so happy that she was starting to like him
Love the shed! Such a great place to keep them. As a mom myself, you are definitely very responsible compared to a lot of other people your age that I've seen. You take great care of your piggies :)
When I move house I'm getting my piggies a shed and setting it up like yours because it's really cool!!! Also can u make another series cos I loved this one!!!!
I've got 7 reptiles in my bedroom, and as a gift for passing my driving test my parents are letting me get an Asian forest scorpion. I dote on all of them, do everything they need and I spend so much time with them (which makes me a lot happier and more relaxed when stressed out) that they don't mind me having them. At first they said no to having just one, but within 6 months they allowed me to get more, and here we are today! Loved this video, Nat xx
OMG Earlier on today I was searching up stuff like 'how to persuade parents to let your hamster have a bigger cage' because my cages are slightly under the minimum. This did not come up in my search. I got bored later and decided to watch your videos and randomly pressed on this... IT SOLVED ALL MY PROBLEMS!!!!
I can so relate to everything you've said! I grew up with my parents being exactly the same way, I remember begging for a pet hamster when I was at an age where I could care for him / her all by myself and they made such a drama of me asking, I never understood why something so harmless could cause such a fuss 😂 Great idea for a video !! xx
Aww Nat I love these types of videos! My parents are always telling me off like: 'you don't need to clean them that often!' 'That's too much bedding!' haha! I'm sure this will help many people as tbh some of the ways you've used to persuade your parents are the same as I used to get animals they had worked!
Guinea pigs do not absolutely must have pairs. Some Guinea pigs do great without pairs, others do terribly. My Guinea pig Oreo, I had for a few days without a friend, because she was the last one left. Oreo was absolutely horrified by everyone and everything. Thursday came around when the pet store had a new shipment of very young Guinea pigs. I got a very social one that I bonded with the minute I held it. Now Oreo looks up to my social darling Pumpkin, and Oreo is definitely better and not terrified as much lol. But for some like my piggy Pumpkin, aren't dependent on other pigs. Oreo tries to snuggle with pumpkin when she's scared and pumpkin nips her a bit like "why are you so scared!".
I actually let my guinea pig run around my room 24/7. He doesn't really have a big cage and he just sleeps, eats and poos in it ( and pees ). all of the basic stuff. In the cage there is no room for tunnels so we have one just in my room. I don't have a cat or anything... so yeah 😋😋 I know that for some people it's kinda odd and not safe, but my guinea pig is really big.
A guinea pig is slightly different as they are so big and can't climb sheets! Misty used to climb my bedsheets which is so so dangerous as I could have squashed her! x
Loved this video! Please do more + it would be so great to watch a video with you and your mom so that your mom can kind of tell her opinion and what she was thinking about Minstrel being alone etc.. xx
Omg I just noticed the painting in the back have crayons at the top and I saw that on Instagram that you have to burn them that's so cool anyway love the video
Same! So many of my friends either abuse their pets (guinea pig that was alone, in a hamster sized cage, not given hay or veggies, kept in a dark closet or cold garage and a bunny that is alone, in a guinea pig sized cage, not cleaned out, kept in a cold garage.) or don't look after them and it is so hard to stand by and watch it happen.
Loved this video, thanks! It was actually seeing your videos that made me look into getting larger cage, and ended up getting a zoozone :) my parents have never been super strict, but money has always been tight, so it was hard to persuade them that it was worth getting a larger cage. I think at the end of the day though they do see how important it is that the pets are happy, so I can totally guilt trip them 😋😇
My guinea pigs wee and poo EVERYWHERE and constantly XD so I have to do a full clean all the time, and our bin is always full haha!! Great video as always :)
Haha finally the first actually truthful way to convince your parents. All the others ways I've seen were too straightforward and obvious, this was much better
Good facts Nat! Minstrel looks so happy with Truffle. I have some videos coming soon for keeping animals with strict parents if anyone wants to check it out.
Thank you, you helped me get my Syrian hamster the zoozone 2. I persuaded my parents finally, my hamster bar chewed so much. He is so happy in his new cage.
Such great videos! BTW - you were right, actually there are quite a few countries, where keeping certain animals alone is forbidden. For example here in Austria you HAVE to have at least 2 guinea pigs or 2 rats etc. else it's considered cruel towards the animal. They are meant to live in groups and keeping them alone when they genetically NEED others/ a group is considered cruel. Of course you dont HAVE to have a pet lol, but if you do, there really are certain regulations in place, where they have to have a minimum amount of space and sometimes only can be help at a minimum of 2 per species... ❤️ Wonderful video btw! Cheers, Aleks
Animals do all have a particular smell, I have noticed this too. My Guinea pig smells like hay and fresh grass, (honestly a pleasant smell in my opinion), My cat smells like the forest(she's allowed to go outdoors and does a LOT of hunting), and my ducks smell like fresh down.
here's how I got my two guinea pigs - my parents didn't want them, but I had been asking for guinea pigs for ageeeees, so I saved up enough money to buy the pigs and everything that they need and I waited for my parents to be away for a couple of days. while they were not home I went ahead and bought them :). they couldn't do anything about it so they let me keep them. worked like a charm.
I persuaded my mum and dad for a fish and I got a dog,3 fish,a hamster and I'm getting a tortoise in 5 days and I'm so exited! He's a Hermann/hermanni tortoise so he is rare! And he will be 5 years old :) so this is very helpful thank you :) I'm most likely calling him Humphrey Hermann Price :) sheldon was one of my name options! I love tortoises I have since I was 6 and I'm 13 now well I will be when I get him :) any tips for tortoises please leave me a comment below about them :) thank you
aw so lucky!! :) Aw that's so cool! & No problem but I know nothing about tortoises so I can't help you there ;) but LooBooShedZoo has one so worth checking out her channel! :) x
My parents have been like "NO RABBIT YOU ARE NOT GETTING A BUNNY NO WAY!" Then I secretly saved up $260+ and then I told them that one day and my mom was like like "Wanna go to a rabbit shelter tomorrow?" I was completely shocked. Also, my parents are not at all animal people, but I constantly find them sneaking into my room to play with my new bunny xDDD
The shelter let you get a single rabbit?! Rabbits have to be kept in at least pairs to be happy! They are social animals and need to be able to communicate with their own kind. Pairs of rabbits are so deeply bonded and are forever grooming each other. (They also feel more confident in the presence of a bun-friend, so will remain friendly towards humans)
Jessica Hammage Rabbits do not actually have to be kept in pairs... As long as they are given lots of playtime and attention, they are fine. I am homeschooled and play with Skye for 6+ hours every day. She's fine and perfectly happy. I do want to get a second bunny in the future though because it is recommended and best to have two, just not absolutely needed.
Hamsters Minecraft And More I don't know where you got your information, but I cannot agree. I volunteer twice weekly at a rabbit rescue and own 3 buns myself. I can 100% guarantee you that no shelter, nor vets, will EVER recommend you have just one rabbit. You may love your rabbit and spend countless hours with them, but the simple truth is you yourself are not going to replace another rabbit. You cannot communicate to your rabbit in the same way another rabbit would. Just imagine being isolated from other humans - it must be very lonely. Please, for the mental health of your rabbit, get them another friend. The costs are the practically same, the minimum requirement space for rabbits is measured for pairs (hutch: 6'*2'*2' and run:8'*4' UK), so you don't need to upgrade the space. It's just yearly vaccinations and 3x yearly worming, which is an added cost. You cannot possibly believe that your rabbit will not benefit form having a friend as soon as possible, especially since you haven't actually seen them experience rabbit companionship. Go back to the rescue and ask them about bonding the rabbit you chose to your current one (age and breed is irrelevant - same sex pairs are very possible, but mixed sex pairs tends to generally work better).
+Jessica Hammage There are plenty of people who have rabbits alone, in the garden and never even socalise with them. She is playing with this rabbit 6+ hours a day and lives in a room with it, yes ideally another rabbit would be great but I honestly think you should also be praising her for looking after the rabbit so well if you are going to give her a essay on rabbit socialisation and care. Im not trying to be offensive or hurt anyones feelings, sorry if I have, I just wish i could've played with my rabbit that long and had him inside :(
You can't justify your actions by using other's situations. Just because her rabbit is not neglected and she is dedicating a great amount of time towards her rabbit, does not mean other basic needs of the rabbit can be ignored. A rabbit friend is better than a human friend. There is no question in that. They will also be together 24/7. 6/7 is a lot of time, but in comparison, it is nothing. I am not trying to be harsh or mean in any way. I am trying to inform an owner, with the goal of getting a rabbit a "better" life.
Madz Lizzle aw that's so cool, I wish I could get every pet I want. I'm currently hiding my snail cage as it's one of the only pets that can humanely get nothing from a petstore and have a place small enough to hide in my closet. I don't have any yet though as me and my friend are going searching on Saturday. If they do find us they will probably think it's one of those bugs you keep for 3 days and then let out, like the frogs I had once
Hi I love your channel 💕 And your advice about parents and pets are brilliant x On Monday did you go to a food and drink festival as I’m sure I saw you, either that you just look alike xx
Thank you Nat! Everything you said here is basically what I had to do to get my pets. I'm recently getting a bunny and I had to pay for everything myself and I get £10 pocket money a week so I just saved that up Thanks again xx
I just asked my dad for a hamster one day when we went to the pet store (I had been wanting one and did research) I told him my mom was cool with it and she was upset at first but doesn’t mind my hamster too much now. He was in a critter trail for about two weeks until I got enough allowance (didn’t have a job at the time) to get him a nice bin cage! now that I have a job they don’t mind me upgrading my hamsters to bigger cages or buying stuff for them but my dad is one of those people that say because it’s a small animal it doesn’t need a lot of room
This was really helpful and also very funny! It took ages to convince my parents for my first pets (rabbits), but now they kind of just allow me to get my own pets if I can show them I have the money and space. I did just get a hamster though and they made me promise I wouldn't ask for more, as I have like 6 now >.> (5 are rescues though, so I don't have to feel too guilty :D)
I finally got there my hamster was in a small cage for 6 months and now i have an alaska! Now all i need is toys.first i hinted a wheel, then a hammock until toys. And now a cage!😊
My hamster is in a 20 gallon and I really really want to get him a 40 gallon. Since he is a Syrian he needs bigger toys and a bigger wheel so in the end, there's not much space for him to run around. I can tell he doesn't like it and he's showing signs of stress. He can tolerate it, he's been in it since I got him about 3 months ago.
I absolutely love your videos I'm getting a hamster in a couple of days thanks to your how to convince your parents to let you have a pet and ever since there my watch history has been filled up with all you videos I'm on my dads RU-vid account so that's why I'm called J I'm actually a 10 almost 11 years old girl so ya thank you for all your great help if you reply OMG I will be so happy that you read this so now you know how much I and all your 28565 subs love and adore your videos. Thanks for helping me get my new hammy
thank you so much! my mom and dad won't let me buy hamster supplies and said it was a waste of money even though it's my money and I tutored, baby sat and pet sat for it!
My parents think I'm going to get bored of my pet and they'll have to care for it, but it's really not the case but I don't know how to convince them I won't get bored. We also have two cats, a 15 yr old cat and a 3 yr old, and my parents think they would be bad with a small animal.
I suggest you take 100% full responsibility of your cats that you have and pay extra attention to them, to ensure that they really understand that you really will always love them, just like how you have always loved your cats! Perhaps ask for a small animal like a hamster which is so easy to care for & create a fact file / video / powerpoint teaching them everything you know about hamsters, that way they can't not take you seriously!
+Hamster Horsesandcats I Will definitely try that! I already take a lot of care of my cats, but there's a few more things I could do for them :) And I'll do the power point too. Thanks so much!
I'm hoping to find a cheap shed somewhere, I have been thinking about my birthday recently and I'm going to ask for a bunch of "NIC grids" so I can maybe make a bit of a new cage or add on to her current one. She has chewed a bit in the basement so I can't just let her free roam the room anymore
+Katycat Stephi if you have the money I would suggest a 5 gallon:)My betta's tank is a 10 gallon and he is very happy! Also try to get a filter that isn't very strong because I have to get a new one because my betta has trouble swimming because the current is too strong
I recently just got guinea pigs because if you and there boys and there names are Gaelic and Milo and there share a cage and I love them so much and I love your piggies
Here is my story. Be prepared for a LOT of reading. So one day I came up upon this channel called Little Adventures. I immediately fell in love with guinea pigs. I told my mom I wanted one. One. Just one. No idea why I was thinking just one.... Anyway, she told me maybe and I started preparing. One day, she was just like, "no you're not getting one." I was devistaded. She told me that I could get a chameleon instead. So I researched for a little bit. I found out that they're very intermediate animals to take care of and I didn't know anything about reptiles so, instead I told my mom that leopard gecjos were easier to care for. After a lot of research and about 1 month later, she told me that leo's live for too long (up to _20_ years). So instead I was getting a guinea pig. I _immediately_ told her I was getting 2 and that they are very social animals. She said OK to me getting 2. We have bought the fleece already and we are preparing for my guinea pigs. No, I don't have them yet, I'm getting them after my trip to Texas (not telling when. That's too much information about my life right now). I am very excited and it took 2 years worth of convincing my mom into getting guinea pigs.
And it's illegal to have only one guinea pig inless your in Sweden or Switzerland 😊 I'm from Sweden and even though I'm not living there now I think it's pretty cool. I'm surprised it's not Germany though as they are very ahead in Pet care. Sweden I feel though has a very large rabbit industry and guinea pigs are generally alike when it comes to keeping them as pets and general needs (ill occasionally search for like DIY guinea pig toys if I've made all the ones rabbit owners have done) so I'm not surprised
The thing with my parents is they think what I say is a joke. Especially with cage size, of course every time I do get my way because I never give up and my parents are soft when it comes to animals.
