I love how Daddy comes to attention when Hyacinth says 'Daddy!'. Hilarious! I love this series. I wish that they still made shows like this. The new modern shows, don't come close to being as funny.
Oddly, Onslow kind of runs a clean establishment in some ways :) And doesn't even notice Rose at all, in all those outfits- which is really sweet- he does love Daisy..... who makes the most adorable cute faces often times...adoring him... hopelessly in love with him! awwww
I loved this hilarious British comedy series and I still watch the reruns. It doesn't get old. The brilliant Patricia Routledge and stellar cast, always give me a fit of the giggles. There's never been a show like it. All we have now is pathetic reality tv...Mrs Bouquet/Bucket, is the most wickedly funny, social climber I've ever seen. Hyacinth's long suffering husband Richard, family and neighbours live in fear of seeing and hearing her. My beautiful late mum and I used to watch this show together. It brings back so many warm memories. The lovely, talented Josephine Tewson passed away last year, around the same time as my mother. They were much happier times back then. This show was comedy gold. I think we could all use a good laugh these days. It seems many of us have forgotten how...Anyway, thank you for this delightful video and cheers from Australia!
Richard is a true gentleman. We should all strive to be a bit more Richard with the "Hyacinths" in our life. Now Onslo...man, he's just hilarious! He looked condemned when she was putting on her perfume!
There'll never be another Hyacinth Bucket. When she's gone property values will go up again. Congratulations to Patricia Routledge for bringing Hyacinth to life. Also, a wonderful ensemble cast!
British comedy is absolutely the most important, not crass like American.I don't really object to profanity,I just think it's unnecessary.Unless it's Ab Fab of course!!😂
I wonder what Hyacinth and Richard's first date was like? Did he know what he was getting into- to say a joke... She is kind- it's true, and I've no doubt the meals are on time... the shirts are well pressed... She's not mean at all and so many things, in any way devious.... and a devoted mom in ways hardly any are perhaps- if having a blind spot or two about her son :) I don't know what to say..... but she is a gem of a character, as is the entire cast!
Thank you Elliott for my favorite show of all time and I'm glad you brought it back the Brit box wants us to pay $9 a month for it so I'm glad you're so nice to let us have it with just subscription I do that anytime and thumbs up I hope that helps you I was so sad when it went off in the '90s I guess it was that long ago or early twenties went off PBS. I never thought I could see it again I'm 90 years old and I don't have too much to do but watch my favorites and that was it.🍁😍😍
@@Mjm9778IsANonce I don’t think saying “Idiot” was called for. And also just because someone says “She was a wonderful actress” doesn’t necessarily mean she’s dead! She may still be alive, but she’s in her 90s and she is a retired actress. It’s perfectly alright to say “Was” in this context.
29:50 such an inspired comic moment with the neighbors -- having a scruffy neighbor who works in the sewers AND in a sandwich-shop! And dear Ethel aka Miss Southport 1948.
I'd like to add my tabby cat loves this show- I stopped it for a moment wondering if to run an errand (in part for him, and not meaning not to finish the episode, but just it was getting later in the day....) and there was some protest of meows....to which I immediately asked him if he wanted to finish the episode and he smiled :) (My other cat, a tuxedo girl- oddly loves "Absolutely Fabulous" a lot too- both like both I think though- but she got so excited- she is a night owl, loves fashion - though she does actually have strong morals- but it's funny! and sassy! ) They were not even around in the 90s by any means! True Classics!
Do you think Richard actually did a little twirl and tap when he turned on the hi-fi? 😂 He usually does what Hyacinth tells him to do... 🤔 I would have loved to see that 😅
Hyacinth always gets away with her disgusting behaviours and comments. It would be even more funny if sometimes she was given some awful comments and she looked sorry, then happy for being seen as important!
Like i never make up excuses if my parents came to live with me in kilkenny i be happy to have them on board iam going to move back to kilkenny one day iam looking forward to it already
She didn't want to run things into the ground - she's a 'proper' actress, and went on to do quite a lot of other TV work that was very different from her turn as Hyacinth.
I really cannot underSTAND that onslow. He has a wife, who practically dotes on him and worships him. There are some men, who can only dream about sex, let alone having a love companion to aid them in sex. And all he has ever done is repay her efforts with nothing but neglect and selfishness. He only seems to care about sleep, salty bacon, crisp, smoking, beer, and television. It strikes me that Daisy deserved way better than him.
This programme does give a whole new dimension to how the queen might have lived If she wasn't royalty A certain standard for her and Richard to maintain Buy unfortunately he Is trapped In a world of being told what to do where he can't win She Is ashamed of her sister Rose and the rest of them Because she runs a clean establishment But a very good programme for this time A genuinely fantastic classic
That poor Mrs Daisy 😔.. I would switch with Ozlow any day of the week oh heck yeah any and all days n nights of the week. I doubt I could or would keep my hands to myself at any time , I would constantly have a Joker Smile all the time😊👍👍👍👍😍🥰 😎🍻✌️👋
Not really. The closest I've seen is one episode where Hyacinth is waving goodbye after Sheridan was visiting, but the camera never turned so he was never in view
It's really hard to choose my favourite character, but Daisy has to be the kindest & most loving.Poor Rose is only looking for love while Onslow is a total bludger(amusing however,oh,nice-anymore bacon or beer??)When is Hyacinth going acknowledge that Sheridan is gay?? Reminds me so much of my mother, narcissistic & a total snob.Even though she's never worked a day in her life and constantly reminded us poor abused kids that we were upper middle class & were related to the British aristocracy(on my Dad's side not hers!!)
Who loves 'Our Rose'? She's my favourite. Honestly, I almost fell off my chair watching that episode where she wanted to go off and become a nun! 😂 😂 😂
