The first woman who cheers is cheering on the minor 3rd of the chord... That's confusing.

DeRosa did a great job. Keepsake was and always will be one of my favorites, if not my favorite quartet up till now. Vocal Spectrum is up there too.

I think my favorite part of this performance is from 1:53 to 2:00... the growth of "o-oonnnn...", then the calm, relaxed, tender breath before the come back in on the penultimate "...nnnnow" is just perfect. Well done.

Honestly, I'm not sure there's a better live barbershop recording on youtube.

I dunno if I've ever seen a quartet milk a tag quite as successfully as Keepsake. One of my favorites, just fantastic.

That is the absolute definition of 'ring'.
@Jackman24601
@Jackman24601 12 лет назад
Is it just me, or at the end, Joe and Roger's minor third ring more than Tony and Roger's major one? I swear, it doesn't sound major for all of that last chord...
@Jackman24601

True, I can hear loads of stuff here, it sounds epic. The best part of the tag though, by far, is DeRosa

You count a post from the breath, not from the high note. He takes a breath at 1:43, which makes it about 29 seconds.

@Stratocaster07 "Tonight" is very 4/4 - little syncopation, very steady rhythm. "Blue Skies" as done by Keepsake is VERY push-beat. Also consider it's got a lot of minor harmony - does your quartet do this well? Do you sing any other songs of this nature?
@sjyyz1
@sjyyz1 13 лет назад
@ReldenNibla You got that right, he's the only guy I've heard that can hold a note 25 seconds! Total domination!
@steveboone1498
@steveboone1498 5 лет назад
There are numerous barbershoppers that can post insane sustained notes. Take Tim Waurick and Todd Kidder for example, those two have posted notes averaging over 30 seconds long if not longer.

@LilKroog It is indeed =P piercewise1 was answering Rubano5248, who thought it was Gary Lewis singing tenor

between 1:31-1:33, is my favourite part of the song, but nobody seems to nail it like they do in this video. derosa hits his notes so perfectly, that the music actually makes sense, whereas when i hear other quartets doing it, this part sounds like a jumbled mess that just quickly skips to the next phrase lol
@piercewise1

@Rubano5428 Great chord yes, but you've got the wrong quartet: roger ross sang tenor with keepsake.

Their base is good, but the guy on the far left should never be allowed to take a solo again in this song--sounds terrible. As a group, they sound very good.
