I think my favorite part of this performance is from 1:53 to 2:00... the growth of "o-oonnnn...", then the calm, relaxed, tender breath before the come back in on the penultimate "...nnnnow" is just perfect. Well done.
wow man, I never saw this video before... what a great performance!! and what an amazing post by DeRosa!!?? They mad that tag last for ever!! wonderful!
Is it just me, or at the end, Joe and Roger's minor third ring more than Tony and Roger's major one? I swear, it doesn't sound major for all of that last chord...
@Stratocaster07 "Tonight" is very 4/4 - little syncopation, very steady rhythm. "Blue Skies" as done by Keepsake is VERY push-beat. Also consider it's got a lot of minor harmony - does your quartet do this well? Do you sing any other songs of this nature?
There are numerous barbershoppers that can post insane sustained notes. Take Tim Waurick and Todd Kidder for example, those two have posted notes averaging over 30 seconds long if not longer.
between 1:31-1:33, is my favourite part of the song, but nobody seems to nail it like they do in this video. derosa hits his notes so perfectly, that the music actually makes sense, whereas when i hear other quartets doing it, this part sounds like a jumbled mess that just quickly skips to the next phrase lol
Their base is good, but the guy on the far left should never be allowed to take a solo again in this song--sounds terrible. As a group, they sound very good.
