How do you know? You are projecting your female/human emotions on an animal. The truth is you have no clue how he felt and are just assumptous in a really pessimistic way. @@dregga7638 Honey, he was underweight, malnourished and covered in a skin virus when he was in Mexico. You don't have to project any emotion to use your eyeballs.

@@sepnyte9422 You're reducing its entire life on its last few weeks of life. You then assume that because he looked like that he must have had "anything but a good life". With that logic most people and animals have "anything but a good life" cause most people look skinny and weak at the end of their lives. its a damn shame...from what i learned, they tried to regroup him with what they believed were either his original pod, or pods similar to his based off sound frequency....but no matter how many times they did it....he would later be found all alone....guess he kept getting rejected, they shouldve seen the writing on the walls since apparently he had a history of being bullied by other killer whales in the past....but at least in his final days he could roam freely in such a vast space...

There are so many liey surrounding Keiko. I am very careful what to believe and what not!! Keiko was a huge thret to the whole industry!! And when he shiwed up in Norway Sea World immeadtly asked the Norweigian goverment for a permit to catch him!!! That is a huge red flag for me and a fes days later he died, he was given antibiotic's and nobody really know's why he died!! Than the other side (the real sientist's who are against captivity)- I do not believe they would lie, but they are also "sweet talking" tge situation. I do not know what to believe, bug it does not matter now. There are sucsessfully rehabilitaded dolphin's tbrough sea pen's with human care, which are now in the wild. Wzy should this not work for orca's?? The plan, everything is ready but the marineland's keep them alone untill they die before letting one of them go and they all die at max half of their lifespan a terrible death. Why not give them a chance to swimm in a seapen with human care???

Keiko had 5 happy and healthy year's!! This is BS!! Keiko hunted, he was month's with other orca's. Of course the industry say's it was a failure, IT WAS NOT. In Mexico he would have died in a few month, so he got healthier and happy. The problem is that they never found his real family, because SW pulled the young orca's out of the ocean without even thinking about from where they were. Was Keiko's family really from Iceland or are they Norweigan orca's and that is why he showed up there, but when he saw human's, he got destracted again. Interesting is: the moment Keiko showed up in Norway, SeaWorld asked the Norweigan government for a permit to catch him and put him back in captivity. Thank God the government said No and than suddenly he died. What a coinsidence??

@@selenaali1999 They did not find Keiko's family, sadly!!! They could have passed through the waters of Iceland like transient's do. And I am not so good at ecotypes but I think Keiko was a transient, but he learned how to eat fish not mammals',s, maybe that was the problem?? The sientist's know so much more today, we cannot compare Keiko with other orca's like Lolita.- her mother is still alive and I pray that they let her go in this seabay with human care as fast as possible. 8n captivity the animals all due at 1/3, 9f their lifespan, but they are still lying and thinking they are the best. @@selenaali1999 Yes she might be like Lolita's!! But if he was a Southern resident why would they bring him to Iceland?? Anyway they pulled the orca's out if the 9cean and did not care from where they were coming from. I think you are right, when his family was really around Iceland and Norway these orca's are fisheater 's- heringrun. But nobody could be absolute sure, Keiko was handfestes fish, so they were happy to learn him to hunt fish. For mammal's he would need a pod and I don''t believe that somebody can untrain an orca from captivity to a mammal eater again, nit after 20 year's. But I don','t know, I am no expert.

I'm glad he was able regain his health in Oregon too. LOL That one guy that gave no Fs about Keiko kind of cracked me up cuz it was such a random thing to include 😂 I really hope they stop the capture of Orcas and dolphins. No rabid animal rights activist here by any means but for the life of me putting an incredibly intelligent animal that is designed to swim millions of miles during its natural lifetime in a tank so it can swim in circles for decades is abhorrent. Kind of like putting a bird in a cage so it can't fly just so you can look at it ☹....

Here’s an orca that was captured when he was 2 years off the coast in Iceland in the 70s. He was the star of the movie of the 90s named Free Willy. But his real name is Keiko. He was brought to a sanctuary and for 6 years they taught him how to hunt and be wild again. After being released back to the ocean in Iceland he found his cousins but once he ran into humans and kids he dumped the ocean and just wanted to be loved by the kids! So I do not believe that animals that have been in captivity want to go back to the ocean. I do think that if orcas start being wild or hurt a trainer and was from the wild originally I do think that to prevent them from hurting any humans those should be good candidates for rehabilitation and then set free. I just love the orcas so much. They are beautiful animals. And the thing is 23 alive today we’re born in an aquarium and they never knew the ocean and love humans !!

It would be the best for them if SW would let them go into a sea pen with human care, a medical pool and so on. Most of them are hybrid's who will never be accepted by the pod's. Keiko was on his own when he was away over one year and he did not deoend on human's as food suply. Anyway, this seapen would be run by the best orca specialist's worldwide. The animals could fee! the ocean again and have a whole pen to move and come into shape again, but "surprise"- SW and other marinelqnd's will not let them go. Lolita was left alone in a hurricane, but they are telling us over and over the sqms BS. Dolphin's are beinb sucsssfully released from sea pens since year's and orca's are only big dolphin's. Why do you want to kill them at half of their lifespan by letting them in these tanks???

@@horse-lover68 Keiko died and went back to humans. He dumped his POD. Just goes to show that like humans can change and adjust to to their habitats they are able too. The case with Lolita is different she is being abused. She needs a sanctuary. The animals bred in captivity should stay in captivity because it’s all they know.

@@claudiacorona6670 NO they should be brought to sanctuaries, where they can spend their life in a seabay with human care, with vetcare, with everything they have in these shady tanks, but they can explore a whole bay, swimm, make their own desition's where they want to be (with the humans on the inside or at the end of the bay). They are building a rescue center NOW in a seabay near Washington. They have inside pool's, quarantine pool's, everything. And they could not release most of them anyway because SW mixed the ecotypes. The animals born there do not exist 8n their natural habitat, they are cross bred animals which do not exist. SW was so busy breeding them and killing almost all their orca cow's with that breeding program, they could not wait untill the other sientist's found out and proved that there are ecotypeswith different languages and different social structures. Animals who are self aware and have a higher intelligence than human's (when you compare the brain's) cannot be in tanks!! These sientist's worked their whole life with whales and dolphins, they know more about them.SW only knows how to keep them alive and they ALL died at 1/3 of their natural lifespan. So sorry, NO not one day more. As soon as they have a place in a sanctuary, they have to go. I learned a lot in the last year about SW and the industry, believe me they are criminal's!! If you don't know Peter Hargrove's book "Beneath the surface", please read it. He was the supervisor (=highest rank) in SW and got the whistleblower for blackfish BECAUSE he still loves the orca's so much!! No efence p!ease!!! I only get a little emotional when it comes to the captivity industry!!!🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️

@@claudiacorona6670it wasn't HIS POD. It was a random POD. They were hoping the POD would accept him they never did. Everything I have seen on the subject says he never got within 100 yards of the pods he came in contact with. Orcas don't work like that. They live exclusively with their mothers and grandmother's. Males can drop in for mating but that's it. And with that flipped over fin and health issues he probably wasn't seen as a good candidate for a mate even. His existence was every bit as sad as Lolitas.
