As for the railways, the starting pay for a train guard, after about 6 WEEKS training, is about 29k (that is almost precisely the same as a newly qualified nurse after 3 YEARS!) I'm a nurse, and, frankly, there are bigger priorities in our country. LIke balancing the books, paying pensioners a 'living pension', tackling immigration, dealing robustly with riots, ensuring the safety children. Any news on any of these 'Sir' Keir of Rochdale?

Why can't we have world renowned independent journalist speaking on these issues? The Express et al are hardly neutral. By complying with EU regulations on food products etc means that we can freely trade with EU member states. We want better pay for nurses and teachers - then we trade to produce wealth. I can't see anything underhand about this.

It is the same in the States. Patents pull their children out of school to go to Disney World to avoid the crowds during the holidays. When my siblings and I attended public school, your parents did not allow you to miss school unless you had a fever of at least 101 degrees or you were in the bathroom throwing up and lying on the bathroom floor all night.
