Growing up a Bama fan NOBODY will ever replace Keith Jackson and the literal hundreds of games he called for us. But the many, many time I listened to him call Ohio St., Mich, USC, Texas, Penn St, Oklahoma and Nebraska games. He is, was and will always be the voice of college football.
a poet with every calculated word he spoke or exclaimed with enthusiasm unknown to mankind! thank you forever Kieth from this 45 yr old man who grew up as a child listening to you call Michigan games and rose bowls. the GOAT. not sure i would be as big a fan if it wasn't for your voice painting the glorious battle you saw unfold . RIP
I grew up watching Keith Jackson Saturdays would be just perfect. Sitting back in front of the TV and you it is a big game if Keith Jackson is broadcasting it.
The absolute greatest college football announcer who will ever call a game. His will forever be THE voice of college football. God bless you, Keith Jackson, and thank you so very much.
They grow em as big as bookends down here in Oklahoma, 328 lb on each end big old..... Corn fed monsters, both from Sweetwater , Texas and there's going to be a whole lot of head cracking going on on the football field today and we'll have it for you next on ABC sports.........THE LEGEND!!!!!!!! Rest in peace Keith, part of my childhood past when you did!! God bless
This tribute left out the fact that Keith Jackson was the original play-by-play voice of "NFL Monday Night Football" in 1970. He called that first season of "MNF" before being moved to college football (and replaced on "MNF" by another broadcasting legend, Frank Gifford).
This is so much more than WHOA NELLIE !!! This great man was just a pure story teller. He told us of a simpler time. A crisp fall afternoon with the leaves changing colors. As a young kid growing up on the east coast, I loved how the seasons changed in the Big 10, whether it was an early warm September day in Wisconsin or a cold and rainy day in Spartyland in December. While I never listened to him on the radio, I wish I did. I can't wait til the first crisp fall day and college football to begin again. Thank you Mr. Jackson, you were definitely a part of my childhood and adolescent years !!!
1:46 “You’ll hear a roar that will knock pine cones out of trees 50 miles away.” Love it. I don’t think any other play by play commentator could pull off saying something like this
College Football on television is not the same anymore let alone with ESPN doing the ABC Sports coverage now . Back in the days if you were looking for CBS Sports and did not see Brent Musburger , you're on the wrong station . If you were looking for ABC Sports and did not see Keith Jackson , you're on the wrong station . I miss Keith Jackson's phrases , etc . but somehow life goes on … even in College Football . - Dwight
"When the last glow drips away from THE Big House at Michigan, its a good time to have a seat and listen......." i was listening to you Kieth. thank you
@@robjohnson8861 During the 70s & 80s, Bo won 13 Big Ten championships in 20 years. In the 90s, Lloyd Carr won the national championship and had two Heisman trophy winners on the team. Look up the winning percentages. By any standard, that was a powerful program. You are dismissed.
I was looking for the good bye when they told him how he helped give college football credibility...his voice told me it was a Saturday when i was young...Goodbye Mr. Jackson.
There's going to be a whole lot of head cracking going on on the football field today, where they grown big down here in Lincoln we got a couple of bookends on both sides cornfed monsters if you will and will be back, with#1 Nebraska Oklahoma with Jamel Holloway whoa Nelly......... And we'll have it for you next on ABC sports.......rip Keith
Sorry Folks, achievements will be broken. Brad Nessler has now tied him, if not surpassed him. 3 hours of both and Brad wins out in total entertainment value. Plus, looking back at all the pointless Bo Schembechler/Lloyd Carr games Keith called kinda ruins the memories too. Michigan should self impose the death penalty. What a waste. 2 NCs in 70 years (and the last was a tie) and a ton of shoulda, woulda, coulda seasons.
