It’s not easy being sober. Been sober 18 years myself. Good to see people hanging in there and doing well.

ON soapbox: -If you want to quit alcohol, don't tell anyone, don't make promises about it to anyone. It's about you and you alone. F everybody else. -If no one else is involved, slipping of the wagon is between you and you. Easier that way to get back on. -Don't let drinking get so bad that everyone is screaming at you to stop. -Do the quitting gradually, try anyway. -You'll get REAL thirsty when you quit, drink gallons of water. That's the old 'water-wagon' thingie. -You'll have insomnia for a few months. -If you do still drink, get the proper vitamins and eat sensible food FFS. Alcohol with high-fat content food is one of the pancreas killers. -Try to never drink on an empty stomach, that's the real killer, have something, anything before/with it, cheese and crackers is good. -Read up on pancreatitis, it's a good scare factor. -A blog online called 'boozebrain' helped me. Ten years, 4 months later, I'm 'clean' now. -I lost about 30lbs and my pre-diabetes is GONE. -So are the F'in hangovers. -OFF soapbox.

I remember that "Fire" song. It used to freak me out as a kid, when it would come on late at night on the oldies radio station back in the 80's.

I started talking to Alice Cooper at a big golf event (he was a playing celebrity) and asked him about being Vince Fournier. He just laughed that only his mother called him that or something like that. Good guy that will talk to anybody about anything. It would seem that Aurthur Brown was a major influence on his act.

My cousin, Vincent Crane, RIP, played Hammond on "FIRE" It also featured a certain Carl Palmer on drums!

Alice I'm happy to say, is the first rock star I ever saw in concert during the epic Schools Out tour which blew my young teen-aged mind. I'm pretty sure Flo and Eddie open for him as well.

Alice Cooper is a true icon and probably my favorite performer of all-time. He still puts on great shows, makes great albums, and just flat out rocks. I have always loved the Coop's voice and he is a nice guy to boot. Long live the Coop!

Its funny how you see the different levels of sucess, in the interview with Paul McCartney Ronnie is the fan talking about stories with him playing with Paul, and in this video its Alice is talking about playing with Ronnie. Trivia- During live performances and in the black and white promotional television clip, Brown performed the song wearing a burning helmet. The helmet was improvised with a leather skull cap onto which was bolted a metal dish that held lighter fluid or petrol. As the cap was not insulated, the heat from the burning fuel quickly conducted through the fixing bolt to the top of Brown's head, causing him considerable pain. The single reached number one in the United Kingdom in August 1968 and in Canada in October.Also in October, it reached number two on the US Hot 100 (behind "Hey Jude" by The Beatles) wikipedia

Fun story, convincingly brought by "Vinnie". Wood may refer to another recording of Fire, because Arthur Brown stated in an interview there wasn't bass and guitar(!) on the original studio recording, but only organ and drums, beside his vocals. Remarkable, considering its influence on Rock and Metal artists. The song wasn't even considered Rock on some U.S. radiostations. Brown said his pal Jimi Hendrix helped break the single in the U.S. by taking it around to Soul and R&B radio stations. “They thought I was black,” Brown told Mojo magazine recently. “Because I had the make-up and because I was singing in a style that they didn’t associate with white singers.” That style would be closer to Little Richard and Screamin’ Jay Hawkins than anything emerging from the psychedelic arena.

It wasn't the Steel Wheels tour. It was The Bigger Bang Tour on 2006.

Alice/Vince lived in my neighborhood in the seventies and played golf at a small nine holes course (Kirkwood) up the street. Back then he always had a can of Budweiser in hand as he trudged down the green. He played solo, with no entourage on the course or in the clubhouse just a normal guy out for some practice. I recall that he was always friendly though quiet and focused on the game.

Liked Cooper until I was old enough to see it was all bullshit. Still like a few of his older songs, but for the most part, as I am no longer a member of the 'Department Of Yout,' I pass on his pandering to teenage-angst (like kids are gonna 'get' that from grampa). Worked a tip job at hotel yrs back pushed a big ass load of diet pepsi cases and all alices other shit to his room and he nor his handler gave me a dime lol, he s traveled the world all those yrs he knows the deal . Disappointing not only as a tipped worker but as a fan ! Dealt with many bands working this hotel ,biggest acts to smallest acts , he was the cheapest cheapskate of them all ... Maybe his handler just kept the money idk but he was right there in the room and he knows the deal .
