...and in which band is the drummer playing now (-after Charlie’s dead)? Completely logical as Keith’s always been the musical leader of the Stones. The business and the songwriting he shares with Jagger...😊
Great to see / hear Keef rocking out & just having fun on a terrific version of 'somethin' else'. After all.... having FUN is what rock & roll's all about!
Eddie Cochran was very special his life ended to quickly, and so many years after his death he left behind so many great songs in such a shot time span and bands like The Who, The Stones Led Zeppelin have played his songs live on stage just too make us know how great his music was and still is.....
I was in the front row for Keith's / Wino's stop in San Francisco in 92, they opened with this song.....I wish I could take it all in, it was so much, no phone cameras back then.
They made 3. One was lost in a fire. 2 were Burst, one Natural. I had a chance to buy the Natural one in the 90's, but I didn't have $1300!! I had it in my hands!! It was HEAVY, flame maple all over it. Someone replaced the bridge with a Badass unit. The headstock was HUGE!!!
This proves that Keith is and always has been about having a good time, giving props to those who came before him and spreading smiles. His rep as a drugged out asshole won't leave him alone but it aint really him.
that's just brilliant. love Keiths version. and as for keith being a junkie, yes he was once, so was hendrix, morrison, joplin, parsons, jones etc the list goes on. but when keith performed this he was off smack.
Proper homage to a rockn roll icon and rock n roll song . he totally got what Eddie was saying. You can see him ' feel' the song . " she is something else" , " sure fine looking man its something else" . he's got the rock n roll roots to tell us this song . probably looked up to Eddie as a rock n roll icon then became one .
@@dcr9233 Yes, he died in a crash. I'm not sure who was driving or exactly how it happened. Gene Vincent was in the same car. He was injured but survived.
@@susanaltman5134 Thank you Susan. I'm a big fan especially of the track Something else but I know very little about his life or how he died. Happy NY to u and yours
@DC R they where heading back to the London airport by taxi from there last show at the Bristol hippdrome. They would have gone by train but Sharon Sheely (Eddie's girlfriend) said that Gene Vincent got them a taxi and wanted to be there faster. Anyway he kept insisting so he got his way. The investigation says the cause was speeding, but it was 1960 at night so light was scarce. They crashed into a concrete pole and Eddie threw his body over Sharon to protect her and they all where thrown out of the car. sharon had some badly fractures. Gene had a broken leg that would left him limp for the rest of his life. People that witnessed the crash said that the road was full of music pages. Sharon was with eddie in the ambulance and said to the driver where in love and he locked there hands together. Then she fell oncunsious while she wished in her mind dont let me fall oncunsious again because i wont be seeing him again. And she was right. she was in the hospital for months while eddie died a few hours later from a head trauma. Gene offered the doctor 10k to save Eddie's life but it wouldn't help. In total 9 doctors tried to save his life.
the winos opened with this one in toronto '93..set the mood for the hottest set i've ever seen...keef's sure fine-lookin man...he's somethin else. there's a video floating around somewhere from boston '93 with this song..definitely worth posting if someone has it.
Keef pulled this off real well. Robert Cray's solo and comping ripped. However, every band needs a Steve Cropper in it. I imagine every cat that plays with Steve Cropper (no matter what instrument) feels at ease. Cropper is the guy with the big picture in mind...all the time.
Before any of you start slagging off Keef's rendering of this song ask yourself would you get up there and try it? Anyway our Keefs a national treasure and we love him warts and all
Don't mind a bit if Keith made a few mistakes on this song. I think it meant a lot to him here and also when he was younger. I think Eddie would have approved.
