I play guitar professionally and to this day I listen to Mellencamp's recordings with Larry Crane's guitar work. Larry's riffs are so unique and I always hear something new in the recordings, small parts and nuances that equate to brilliant guitar work and creativity. In my opinion, those magical guitar parts that he weaved with Mike Wanchic ended when Larry left the band.
Had a nice surprise the night before with Larry Crane joining me and my band "Steele Unbroken" on stage at the Southport Bar and Grill. What an honor to have our hometown icon play with us the first set! Larry and Keith Urban together what a fantastic combination! They both rock! Wowwww loved it! Thanks again Larry and Keith Urban you are phenomenal!

I love Larry. I think he and Mike do not get credit for creating all the great music that went with Mellencamp’s songs. Listen to Larry’s solo records are good or better than what Mellencamp has put out since Larry left.
