I can still remember waking up to the sound of birds from the time I spent in Australia years ago. Fond memories! I enjoy hearing about your knitting and pattern ideas. ❤
Hi Kel, I'm looking forward to watching more of your channel, its nice to see and hear some Aussie voices in the among youtube knitters. I love to watch the maggies out my window in the afternoon, a bird family of 3 regularly pluck at my lawn with their warble occasionally breaking the silence, nothing sweeter. Cheerio, Tara
I’m very happy you’re setting in. I love the view behind you of your patio with the trees looking so majestic. I have a picture window in my dining room and it so rewarding to see all the birds fly by chasing each other in such a playful manner. A few days ago we had some rain and once it stopped I made my way down the driveway to get the mail from the post box and was greeted with a magnificent array of Cardinals. I had never seen so many red birds (at least 15 or more) feasting on the lawn. Ahhh… so beautiful.
Hi, love your channel. I always knit while you talk and I enjoy it very much. I'm from BC, Canada, and the humming bird is a constant visitor in our yard.
Hi Kel, beautiful view, the birds / bird are great alarm clocks in the morning. A magpie followed me today on my walk with my dog. Keep knitting love the tee.
So glad to hear you are enjoying your new home so much, and the thought of you being able to sit outside on your balcony knitting and listening to the birds just sounds so idyllic 🥰. I’m very envious 😊.
Thanks for another enjoyable podcast! I live in South Africa and the variety of birds in our garden is wonderful! Nothing nicer than my knitting and the sounds of nature!
We live in a rural part of Ontario and enjoy a wide variety of birds. Chickadees are one of my favourites. Thanks for sharing your projects with us. I really enjoy the information you share.
What a lovely view you have, made me exhale just seeing it. Ah the fun of unpacking 🤭🫣😆 jumping into the giveaway with birds and my favourite are kookaburras which I see on my morning walks. So lovely to live in this country. Happy settling and knitting 🥰
How exciting to be in your new home! And listening to a whole new set of birds would be fun. It is a welcome sign of spring here that I look forward to after a long cold winter. Your headband is really nice. I love the color! Have a great couple weeks!
Hi Kel lovely to see you and your knits etc! I can really relate to what you spoke about regarding gauging our mental health and what we are doing whether it’s in balance or not - that awareness for me also includes my knitting and social media so thanks for chatting about that. Just wanted to say all the best with your unboxing and getting settled. I love that with the birds serenade you while you knit in the morning !
Such a nice view of the trees out that window behind you. Nice that you can enjoy listening to the birds!. I like hearing the occasional kookaburra . We get mostly crows where I am.
Yes, the birds here are a completely different lot to those in Europe, but the little parrots and the wag tails around our garden are a delight to looks at. Not so much the crows 😳 thanks for this generous giveaway, and the lovely company 😍
Congratulations on your new house. Looks like you have a beautiful view behind you😊 I always have sunflower seeds for the small birds on the birdcage outside my livingroom window in the winter. And I love to watch them🥰 Thank you for another wonderful episode☕️🧶
Congratulations on the new apartment and settling in. That balcony does look lovely for knitting and bird watching! You gave me the idea of doing a head warmer for a gift that just got sprung on me, so thank you!
I loved looking through your window as you were talking. It looks lovely! No bird or birds though :-). You look content & happy. Congratulations on your new home!
Hi Kelly, it's great to see you happy and settled in your new home. I so look forward to watching your podcasts and seeing your all of your beautiful knits. I live in Wales in the UK, and my favourite bird song is from the blackbird. Looking forward to seeing your next video xx
Hi Kelly, it’s lovely to see you getting settled in your new home! Where I live we have mocking birds, doves, finches and sparrows, and occasionally an owl will stop by in the fall. It’s fun to watch the birds gather at the feeder outside our bay window.
Congrats on finally moving into "your space". I love seeing your balcony in the background. It does look like the perfect welcoming place to knit or relax listening to the birds. Thank you for recommending the Drawing sweater, I immediately favorited it on my Ravelry page. Have a wonderful spring season!
waaaa i'm so glad you are finally moved an you can call something your own home💌 i feel like the uk is the same sometimes, there are not a lot of pleasant songbirds where i live, but back in romania they are amazing. i can wake up every morning hearing only small birds flying around and chirping happily 😊
Your view is beautiful and looks ideal for bird watching. I am lucky enough to live by the sea and see an abundance of sea birds such as egrets, cormorants and even the occasional sea eagle. Love your podcast. ❤
Great to see you are settled into your new home. I know what you mean about listening to the birds. We have tui, birds here and it's lovely to listen to their songs, also I enjoy the magpies.
Awe thanks for the shout-out ☺️ Your new apartment is so bright! I will never tire of seeing Australian trees. Just watching them out of your window brings me joy 😊 When I lived in New Zealand I suddenly appreciated birds so much more. They have the most beautiful songs and sounds. Then I moved to Ireland and was bitterly disappointed 🤣 Right now we just have crows which sqwark. I miss the melodic sounds of NZ. I actually listen to recordings on Spotify sometimes of NZ birdsong haha I'm looking forward to seeing your WIP completed. It looks really beautiful, especially in that yarn. Excellent choice 🙂👌
I love putting bird feeders and bird houses all over near our windows. We get a lot of cardinals in winter and its so fun to see them as bright spots of color in the dullness of winter, or against the gentle beauty of snow.
My daughter has been making food for the lorikeets to enjoy and is having a great time. She wants to train them to sit on her hand but I doubt she'll have much luck with that (which is for the best really 😂)
Loved catching up with you today. Lovely backdrop. I live in northern,BC,Canada. We have chickadees and some woodpeckers that hang around here at this time. We do have an inside bird though. A conure named Ruby. She does more squawking and mimicking than any singing. Have a wonderful week.
Thanks so much for your podcasts ! 🐞 Looks like you are having some kind of storm if I look through your windows ? Hopefully nothing too heavy ! We do not want any bird falling out the trees. 🤪🤣
No storm and no falling birds thankfully 😂 We live near the water so it can get quite windy which keeps things cool but isn't great for the outdoor furniture.
Hi Kelly Loving your pattern recommendations and your podcasts in general I used my Advent calendar from last year to make Helen Stewart’s Habitation Throw which was a super enjoyable knit I have a healthy stash of minis 😱🤣so this years knitvent patterns are perfect inspiration The view from your balcony, those gum trees swaying in the wind and bird life all around, spending time with your family and friends, has clearly touched your soul Everything in it’s own time and flow so how ever often you podcast or find time for knitting, is enough 💜🐨
I love waking up to the birds singing in the spring and fall when I'm able to leave the windows open. We have beautiful cardinals here and they are so fun to watch. I'm currently doing Knitvent too! Someone gifted me an advent so I plan on using that for the Anthology throw.
When I backpacked in Australia (20 ish years ago!) I was amazed at how beautiful the rainbow lorikeet birds are! I've never seen anything like it before or since. I also love that Drawing Sweater you mentioned. However it's not within my current skillset. I'll have to enjoy it through other knitters. Good luck with the unpacking and organizing!
I used to love the sounds of the butcher birds when we lived in Ballina NSW, I moved to Australia from South Africa so all the new bird sounds were wonderfull and I tried to learn all the new bird sounds. We now live in Cairns and I have not heard any butcher birds here
I also have the Feldspar Tee on my queue! It looks so wearable and I'd love to knit it in a few colours. Your view is magnificent! Thank you for a lovely podcast. Bird.🤞
I love listening to birds and bird watching. We're in the thralls of pre-winter where I am and most of the birds have migrated South. I hope you have a glorious summer and that you can enjoy your free time however you like. (One pattern that I'd love to make is the Billie Pullover by Sari Nordlund)
I was actually wondering when I saw your new background if you had had the time to sit out there on the balcony and enjoy the birds ! Glad to see you’re finally in a place you and your family can actually settle into and make your own. Keen to see what the new year brings you with your knitting! 🙂
Thank you for another wonderful episode! I’m glad to hear that things are settling down for you and that you are slowly getting back to a some what normal routine. Good luck with the rest of the unpacking, it always takes a bit to get done!
Hi Kel, I've just found your RU-vid channel and think your one cool "Bird"! lol - I'm also a new knitter and have appreciated your journey. Welcome back to the lucky country, look forward to future videos ☺️
So awesome to hear that you've reached a big RU-vid milestone! I remember watching your first podcast and thinking how enjoyable it was. As for birds, it's fall here so there isn't much opportunity to hear calls anymore. But every now and then we see a cardinal and his spouse flitting through bushes near our windows.
There are no birds here on a grey and foggy November afternoon in central Germany which I could be listening to. I was actually knitting on Helen‘s Oddments Cowl while watching your podcast. This is a fun little pattern. The lace is nothing overly fancy but definitely easy to memorize and so just perfect for a knitting podcast afternoon on my couch. Looking forward to hearing from you soon again, Claudia
I think the cowl pattern must be the most popular of them so far as I keep seeing it pop up. I found the yarn scraps I'd like to use for it so just need to cast on!
Remind me whenever I start a yarn company that I want to have a yarn base called "Superfly" 🤣. So excited that you've settled in to the new place, the view looks beautiful!
So pleased you are continuing to podcast. I was a bit worried you would stop when you moved back to Australia. I am currently living in France and I do get a bit homesick (in a nice way) when I watch your videos but when you mentioned the birds today it did make me quite nostalgic. Lovely idea for the pattern give away as postage is a real drag these days. My next project is going to be the Sian sweater by Elizabeth Doherty however when you showed the Drawing Sweater I find myself looking through my stash to see if I have suitable yarn! Thanks again for keeping me company whilst I am on the other side of the world.
I've been looking for knitting patterns with birds and have found some gorgeous mitts patterns on Ravelry. My knitting mojo has hit a new low recently as my swatches LIE!!! and I have had to rip back a sweater again, I honestly think I spend more time unknitting than knitting! It is good to see you ensconced in your new home looking relaxed. Love your podcast.
I love watching you and your makes, I can’t wait to see if you make that amazing sweater. By the way I always seem to know I’m watching someone in Australia because of the sound of the birds 😂
I love that the bird songs are so identifiable you know the country! I'd really love to make the drawing sweater but not sure if it's too ambitious for me. I'll see how I feel when the weather starts to cool and I'm ready to cast on something cosy.
What a massive amount of change you’ve been through recently! Hurray for now being able to settle in in your new apartment, I’m sure it feels good. I’m in a new location myself and have discovered there’s a blue bird nest nearby, which is so cool.
I really enjoy watching your podcast, and I follow you since your first episode. I am glad to hear that you settled in well back in Australia. Here in Germany, winter is coming around for the first time with a a little bit of snow and temperatures below 0 degrees. As to birds 😉 When I was driving home through a forest in the dark last weekend, suddenly there was this very large bird flying across the street. It was an owl. They are larger then you think, and you rarely ever see them.
That’s a lovely picture - you sitting on a balcony listening to the birds while knitting! Welcome back to Australia - the best place in the world to live although I think Melbourne is better than Sydney. Love your podcast
I always look forward to the winter season so I can once again take out my knitted bird that my friend made from the Arne and Carlos Field Guide to Knitted Birds book. It is so cute with its red hat and scarf. I like the headband pattern and am hoping to make a few for gifts if time allows.
What a beautiful backdrop for your podcasts. The gum trees are beautiful and can imagine the multitude of birds that pass by, or a single bird perched on a branch.
Birds. I would also love that Drawing sweater in my wardrobe but I think it is an extremely ambitious project because I suspect the flower placement is random so there would be no repeats. I can’t do that to myself.
Our resident birds are crows and their cawing is not melodious. We also have ring-necked doves. But we do have owls at night and I love listening to them
We have a really interesting family of birds who live in the park across the road from us - a little family of Tawny Frogmouths! They’re fascinating to watch at dusk. :) I also really want to know about that cardigan you were wearing in this episode - it’s perfect for summer.
I love Tawny Frogmouths!! I don't actually know where the cardigan is from. It was my mums which she gave to me so I'll have to check where she got it from.
