wow cant picture that area, always thought kelham island starts near ladys bridge and goes up west bar area?? didnt really recognise this area, corporation street and mowbray street i sort of know the names but....
I'm not sure where Kelham starts and finishes anymore! Everyone claims to live or have their business in Kelham but some are quite far from Kelham Island - it's really confusing!
@@SheffieldVideos Kelham Island, as a district, never was when I was a lad - it was simply between Shalesmoor and Neepsend. I never understand why everyone builds apartments but makes no allowances to park all the cars !! It means that you cannot live there and have an electric car, unless you have a five hundred feet extension cable !! Never understand why pubs have the names that they have had, for hundreds of years in many cases, to "trendy" names that no-one knows unless you advertise it all over the place. How long was the ALMA so called ? Since the Crimean War at a guess, The Riverside Pub was called something like the Bull and Mouth (or similar) for longer that anyone remembers. At least the Gardeners Rest still has the right name, I was last in there in 1948/49 - a long time ago. We got caught at the old tram stop outside (it was literally in the middle of the street) in pouring rain, and dived in to try and get drier, As it was we were so wet we went home, Pickering Road on Parkwood Springs. I think we called in the Reindeer on the way home :-)
@@malteseowl You can live there and not own a car - everything you need is nearby, the city centre is a short walk away. Why would you need a car, electric or otherwise?
@@jonnyhaw what about the small industrial businesses that still operate down there? People that have to commute, how will the CAZ and double yellows everywhere affect them? I'm not against 15 minute citys or zones as Kelham now is, but it doesn't suit everyone or society as a whole. Not everyone works from home on a computer and only goes out to the gym or deli.
@@SheffieldVideos Kelham is Kelham Island where the museum is. That's it. Everyone has jumped on the Kelham bandwagon. Kelham books is in Shalesmoor, Kelham flea is in Neepsend and Kelham friary is at West Bar!
