This is my Kellett Airmail design . The total weight it almost 5,2 Kgs , 1000 cms blade length , Saito F A 100 with Futaba radio . The model has a prerotator system in order to reduce the take off runway length .
Thanks for your comment. I broke my first Helix due to a possible battery switch failure. I bought a new body and it's ready for another test. Now in Spain the weather is very hot and I will wait until the end of the summer to fly it.
Hi! It's a Kellett KD 1B autogiro 1/5 scale model. More info here:- en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kellett_KD-1 Kellett were a US firm that held a license to build Cierva Autogyros - their KD 1B was used to carry "Autogiro Mail" - lettered on the side. The "Autogiro" spelling is correct - the word is Spanish, chosen by its inventor Juan de la Cierva y Codorníu a brilliant aircraft designer and mathematician whose efforts provided the rotor hardware for the Helicopter. Beautiful model!
