You’re 100% correct. Ariana is amazing no doubt…but Kelly just has that full, big, confident sound.

This was awesome!! You can tell how much they enjoyed singing together and how much respect they have for each other! I thought at first that Kelly’s power house voice - which is beyond compare! - was going to over power Ariana, but wow she held her own - especially towards the end. When she started doing her vocal acrobatics and stratosphere riffs and runs you could she see her confidence shining through! I loved every minute of this one!! Thank you for this reaction!! ❤

Ariana is amazing and I love them together and I honestly am so happy they did this together Ariana really helped bring a younger group of listeners in to appreciate Kelly! Kelly is freaking ridiculous though her voice has gotten stronger and more full over the last 20 years! She is imo the greatest voice on the planet right now! Both of them are in the top 5 for sure though! This was the very first time they performed this live and together which makes this even more amazing! Thanks for reacting to this one!.

You and I have very similar thoughts on these two. Kelly, in my opinion, is one of the most under appreciated voices of the last 20/30 years (and I say this knowing that many, many people thinks she's a "really good singer"). Her voice is the pinnacle. Ariana is an amazing vocal talent to be sure and among her contemporaries I think she defiantly stand out. But where she really shines for me is in how seriously she takes her craft and how entirely she has trained her ear and instincts musically. She's in love with making music and it shows. thanks for watching and for the amazing comment. I really appreciate you hanging out and listening to some good music with me.

I've watched this video since the special so many times. The Voice brought these two lovely ladies together for this specific duet. They talked about (hmmm maybe it was a hint ) singing together on the show. Christmas music is more about having fun anyway. I know, you have to do some kind of reaction. Too bad there wasn't a standardized rating system for Christmas songs LOL Love your reactions. ✌❤😎

Kelly wrote this song and performed it on her Christmas special last year. It is heart wrenching but so beautifully written and done. I think you have a great ear and a solid from-the-heart read on vocalists. Ariana is a great singer but singing along with Kelly Clarkson on this song she's just a glint of color and texture. Her main job is to add a few whistle flourishes which she does nicely. The backbone and soul of the song is Kelly Clarkson. Kelly could have easily sold this one solo. Ariana could not. Not today, not tomorrow, not ever.

First, thank you for the compliment and for watching along with me. I really appreciate it. I don't know if I'd go as far as to say that Ariana couldn't sell this solo. I would be more inclined to mark the differences in their voices (which are largely due, in my opinion, to the size, structure and training of their physical instruments) than I would be to compare them in a competitive sense. One place where I do agree with you and would even go further is that Kelly could have easily done this wrong. Meaning that she would have come at this full throated from start to finish and blown by Ariana from a "power" perspective and that would have been the absolute wrong way to perform this song. She does an expert job at finding the right balance when they're harmonizing so that she is a compliment to Ariana as much as Ariana is a compliment to her. I hope it came across that I believed then and still do now, that both of these women are otherworldly talents and deserve the highest praise.

But this is kelly song...Ariana had to take it down vocally so she doesn't take over...a rule that should be consider when collaborating on another artist song, not to over shine the original creator

I love Ariana and would never dare to bet against her vocal skills ever…but I don’t think there’s an artist alive who could duet with Kelly Clarkson and be in danger of taking it over. Please understand, I would say the same about Ariana. Though to say that she can match Kelly’s power might be a stretch. But, again, that’s not a shot at Ariana. Honestly it has as much to do with physiological differences as anything. The size and shape of the instrument genuinely matters. Again, they’re both amazing. Just different.

I don't know what this means... Volume has very little to do with tone, richness, power and placement. It's not an insult. Ariana is one of the most gifted vocalists of her generation. Their voices are just very different.
