Thanks for the honest review! I honestly love this album, and according to the forums, a lot of us are digging the tracks starting from down to you to Rock Hudson (those two songs are also classic Kelly pop rock and I am so digging them). It is also more of a cohesive storyteller album rather than one that pushes for hits. Kelly at this stage of her career has proven herself enough and there is no serious need to push for a blockbuster album and hit. After all, she is a female pop singer past her 40s. It’s hard to survive in an ageist and sexist industry but she still stands tall! In fact, the album went straight to No. 1 in 16 countries in the iTunes Charts upon its release, including my country Singapore. Its rare that my country has taste 😂❤
Thank YOU for watching and commenting! ❤️ Totally agree, it's a very cohesive and easy album to listen to with some awesome songs that make you want to repeat! It's def a grower of an album too and you're right, Kelly doesn't need to cater to the commercial side, she's done that's she has got her place and now she's just doing what makes her happy which is honestly where you get the best from an artists
I definitely recommend Meaning of Life that came out in 2017. If you like Kelly using her voice in a more soulful, old school way I definitely recommend this album.
I dare anyone to listen to Lighthouse and not be moved by it! It’s amazing! I think it’s my favourite on the album but then I LOVE Red Flag Collector, Magic, Mine and Rock Hudson! Her voice is pure gold on every song! ❤️👏🏻 💿
Steve Martin played the banjo for the song and Shaila played the drums in her song. The reason why it’s all over the place it’s because she wanted it to reflect the whole arc of a relationship from the start with Favorite kind of high to the end with Rock Hudson.
Rock Hudson was a really famous actor during the golden era of Hollywood! Nobody really knew who he really was, even the name was created for him by his agent. He was very charming, but always playing a part. So the song is suggesting she was sick of pretending everything is okay when it isn’t, and she won’t pretend it’s okay anymore.
I LOVED THIS ALBUM SMMMMMMMMMM it’s such a beautiful album and what makes it amazing for the most part even the songs that didn’t click with me are still sooo good because of kelly’s incredible vocals. my favs are skip this part, me, down to you, rock hudson, i hate love, and red flag collector.
This era of Clarkson, is all about her head voice! She wanted to create something completely different than what she had done before, while keeping some of the signature "Kelliness" we've all come to love and expect from her!! I think she nailed it! And she said, as long as this helps one person going through this, then she succeeded! I think she achieved that and then some! I have had this on repeat since she began releasing the singles! I wish I could hug her after hearing all the pain she endured the last 3yrs! Great reaction!
Steve Martin just plays the banjo in the song I assume he’s mentioned as a feature on the song so he can get more money from the song the more it’s streamed etc
High Road, Mine, Rock Hudson and Lighthouse are THOSE songs for me. This might be her best record yet, lyrically and vocally. My pop queen!! Thanks for your reaction!
I was never really into Kelly Clarkson, off course I know her hits and I do appreciate them, but in general with her full length body of works I’ve never really connected with. But this album is really good cause it’s vurnable and also quite accessible in general. The only thing that’s bothers me a bit is that I’m quite underwhelmed with the rollout this era. They way the album was announced, no real videoclips, … her label doesn’t put a lot of effort in this in my eyes… Also the fact that Kelly herself didn’t know who co-wrote the songs on this album does feel a bit strange to me. No hate off course, I love the concept and music!
