Vince doesn't try to do to much. He is so professional that he just hangs back and lets her do her thing , while also adding to the song. He's great. Also that solo is melodic as hell.

This song was only released to country radio during kellys push to country music. Mr. know it all country version-dont rush-tie it up. got her a grammy nomination and a female vocalist nom at the CMA... but the song wasnt released to the more obvious more appropriate format which were adult top 40/hot AC & adult contemporary/AC radios ... it wouldve been a classic!! But I understand their reasoning, country radios are fickle, they like their songs exclusively for them and kelly was trying to break into country. That didnt last lol 😂

Kelly truly can sing anything, any genre and it's like her voice was meant to sing it- POP,Rock, R&B, Big Band, Country, just everything! This is so smooth and mellow, it does remind me of 70's country/ crossovers like Lynn Anderson, Crystal Gale.... just beautiful, just KELLY!!!!

This song is soul comforting and makes your heart move a bit quicker in your chest at the same time. This is how the legendary country and soul singers used to do it. Straight up SING with no gimmicks. The girl sounds just as good if not BETTER than the recording. This is Country meets Motown done by a fine artist in Miss Clarkson.

Cobalt Jones I'm glad you mentioned that because the rhythm is undeniable reminiscent of that distinct seventies sound. I was not aware however that this was a classic r&b hit from that truly fabulous era. It does however have just enough country inflection to give it that "marriage" I spoke of in an earlier post. In the interview Patcast by Pat Monahan in 2013, over an hour, Vince mentioned how impressed he was by Kelly's voice. When he was recording "Don't Rush", he could really tell the quality of her voice. This rendition had such sweetness created by both. I am a huge fan of Vince. Congratulation to Vince on receiving the highest CMA honor as the second musician ever to receive - the Irving Waugh Award of Excellence this year.

I have always said it and I will glady repeat this. Country music NEVER lets me down. Of course it isn't as good nowadays as it was during its golden days in the 70s/80s but THIS performance certainly does justice to those years. Kelly Clarkson is a wonderful singer who does what a singer is supposed to do. SING the song. Sing it according to its context. No wailing and screaming out the lyric to the last syllable. She is a perfect example of controlled interpretation. Meaning she doesn't sing it Kelly Clarkson "style". She sings the songs the way the writer intended for it to be sung minus cheap vocal theatrics. A beautiful blend of power, emotion and tenderness without either quality overshadowing the other. Thank you Kelly.

I just heard this song for the first time while laying at the hotel pool in Miami, FL and I had to Shazam it to see who was singing it. Why oh why was this not a "hit" song for her? It should have been, no doubt. Glad there is this video of it. I still think it could be a "HIT" even in today's time period.

He's reached that level of talent and Fame where he can just perform wherever he feels like it and whatever he feels like it. But he has a duet with Carrie Underwood too which is probably her best vocal performance ever but nobody talks about how incredibly talented Vince Gill is obviously his guitar skills are insane but his voice where is that blends with everybody's and he makes other people sound better because he's so good

This is everything a real hit song should be...where you don't hesitate to turn up the radio whenever it's on. Two great talents effortlessly making it happen. And something where you hear all kinds of excellent music influences... from an Al Green/Memphis Soul beat to the energy of a Dolly & Kenny duet. Perfect song!

People dont understand why I love Kelly so much. Kelly was someone I saw became what she is now through my own eyes. Through it all I believe she has stayed true to herself most importantly. #PieceByPiece is one of my favorite by her currently because it speaks to how much family will turn their backs on you when they believe you could not have offered them anything at one point, but find themselves somewhere in the future wanting to be apart your now success/journey. #KellyClarkson .... I think Kelley Clarkson is one of the very few artists who has cross-over songs in Rock, Pop, and Country. She can sing any genre of music there if she wants to. She has an incredible voice that has so much natural range she can handle any song.

Never really listened to this song even though I listen to country 99% of the time but it reminds me of my wife and I. It's helped me a lot, it's soothe my pain a bit being away from my wife for a year as I am currently serving a tour in Korea as a member of USAF. Great performance and great song.
