She came from my home town, so I followed her career through it few ups and many downs. She had always been there or thereabouts, but she arrived in Athens injury free for once and massively experienced - at no time during the race did she look phased. As for the cretins shouting about drugs, produce evidence or shut up.
I'd rather have the commentary than this lame music, the commentary was epic. I'll never forget Brendon Foster "At last, at last she say's I am a champion" I just got goosebumps writing that; sort it out!
Qwerty Qwerty shows how little you know. The whole point of Bredon Foster saying "at last she is a champion" was because she had missed out by injury or just being beaten by fractions for EIGHT YEARS. That was her last chance at glory and she got it. I know you're just a troll, but it was worth replying just to put people who might read your idiot comment.
@@rolirolster And in the close losses she still picked up one Olympic bronze, one world bronze and 2x World silvers before Athens. And a silver and bronze in the Europeans and 2x golds and a silver in the Commonwealths..... It needs the BBC commentary with Cram going nuts 'You've won it Kelly, you've won it. Yes you've won.' when she's looking at the screen trying to see who won the race.
Why replace the classic commentary with some awful sound that I assume is meant to be music?! You have a fabulous watchable video totally ruined,,, shame.
This is going to sound daft but I think it was to get around RU-vid copyright claim. . . I know it is the Olympic channel but it is not uncommon especially in the past to have companies run your online copyright for you. . . For instance, Emma Blackery recently had to play less than a second of her new song because it would have been copyright claimed by the records label legal company who manages the online copyright revenue.
Holmes was built for running with small hips , long legs and muscle in the right places. She was so happy to win this race. Four women were all very close to winning. That blond girl would have won if the race was 5 meters longer.
i totally agree. even if it is at least new and original commentary. the british commentator is a little bit bias towards kelly lol. but to be fair you cannot blame him. this music is just annoying
The only person in the history of the Olympics scratch that sport who peeked at 34 lol I mean what athlete gets better with age ?? it's insane to me, I think it's obvious she had some type of performance enhancing cocktail in her ! Nobody gets better in athletics with age and after all her injuries it's laughable to imagine she was clean in either race .
Her record is abysmal for middle distance running.. She rocks up in 2004 after winning nothing in years, wins 2 races and shes now an all time great. She doesnt even rank in the top 25 fastest, to cap it all gets a gong.. what a joke.
True, ever heard of Lasse Viren?? It's about winning not times. Yes she's outside the top 25,but thenif you look at the list you'll see a pleather of drug cheats from Eastern Europe, like Jarmilla Kratchilova, she won medals in other championships actually. But then you seem rather hate filled. She suffered from injuries due to how hard she pushed her body.
Kelly ran in '96 and had a good 800m, but dropped from 3rd to 9th(?) in the straight. She was even better in 2000 and got ther bronze and only just lost out on something better (after another late return from injury). She had a long career and not sure why she retired in 2005, but she was 35 and perhaps injured, once again? She also won silver at the world champs in '95 and in total 12 medals at major championships. Hardly an "abysmal" record....Long an distinguished would be more appropriate adjectives.
I agree with you Al Faubert. She was nowhere in the lead up to Athens and by all accounts washed up. Suddenly after just a short time juicing in South Africa she comes back looking ripped with demonic mad eyes. Clearest case of doping ever. Yet the British pleblic like a good loser turned good story and lapped it up. Now, to make her self look clean she pipes up about punishing drug cheats harder just like the pious Allan Wells who was known to be a juicer himself.
Amazing how at the age of 34 she runs the best two races of her career. Yet no-one at the time rose the idea of PEDs or that Kelly Holmes falsely accused Jolanda Ceplak or drugs for beating her in the Euros in 2002. Holmes was a dubious also ran who got lucky that the standard in Athens was poor.
I am glad for the music over the Brit announcers. They would have been unbearable for this race. Even if their man/woman finishes 3rd/4th/5th that is their ONLY focus on the race. I've seen it over and over. Cross Country and Track & Field for 30 years.Put an Australian, New Zealander, American, anyone who speaks English for like speaking audiences. NO ONE could be more of a homer than the obnoxious Brits I have heard!
Except an Americans. No their country exists when they do sports. As for the BBC presenters, what do you expect? Did the American to commentator cheer their girl on?! It seems it's ok for every other nation to support their players and teams, but not the British. Have you heard a Brazil,Ian football commentator when they score??
