That original version of Friend of Mine STILL goes strong in 2022. So much soul and feeling in her voice in that song. A voice you can FEEL. When she hit you with that “HOW COULD YOU DO IIIITT???!!!” at the end, I feel it in my bones.

I remember when Kelly Price, Faith Evans and Whitney Houston shot part of the video to Heartbreak Hotel at Opa-Locka airport in Miami. I actually towed the Citation jet that’s in the video into the shot. I remember during a filming break they (Kelly, Faith and Whitney) were just standing around singing a cappella. It sounded like 3 angels singing in heaven. The whole crowd stood there in awe. Bobby Brown showed up to pick up Bobby Christina from the trailer that day.

No one can sing like Whitney Period.

my friend and i were invited to that party and stood in line to get in in fact. she is a tv series creator who worked with kelly. (i had previously met kelly through her at a film festival and kelly is very very kind and funny and warm). we couldn't get in because we were told we were on the "list" but we just said that. we didnt know we were on the "vip list" (we didn't even think of that. lol) the lady at the door kept giving us the "you're not here go away" look but we made her check three times and nope. not that list. we went out for dinner...a little pissed but she got a call from kelly the next day asking where we (really my friend) were last night...then we found out about the list and that we both would have met whitney that night because kelly had a table for her and a few and we (my friend really, not me, I just got lucky almost) would see her. no such luck and we were truly devastated when we heard about whitney's very untimely passing just a day after we (my friend) talked to kelly.
