Kelly Reichardt (Old Joy, Wendy and Lucy, Certain Women) once again trains her perceptive and patient eye on the Pacific Northwest, this time evoking an authentically hardscrabble early 19th-century way of life in First Cow, which made its New York premiere in NYFF’s Main Slate. NYFF Director Kent Jones joined Reichardt as she discussed this new film, in which she again shows her distinct talent for depicting the peculiar rhythms of daily living and ability to capture the immense, unsettling quietude of rural America.
The film is a Main Slate selection at the 57th New York Film Festival, presented by Film at Lincoln Center from Friday, September 27 - Sunday, October 13.
A centerpiece of New York culture since 1963, the New York Film Festival will introduce the most essential new cinematic works from around the world to U.S. audiences in its Main Slate.
