Kelly Jones of Stereophonics tells us his shock, when he discovered Stuart Cable had died on the day of his great uncle's funeral. BBC News, Cwmaman Wales. 7th June 2010.
I think that the guy handled this difficult interview, with the greatest composure. To be battered with questions when you aren't as robust as you could be, is a nightmare. All bands have their "in's and out's" It's like being in a family. Mr Jones should be lauded for his honesty.
Hey, someone you've known since you were 12 just died - I know you found out 5 minutes ago, but how about I ask you emotionally difficult questions that you logically wouldn't be able to answer given, again, you've known him since you were 12? This interview reminds me about what I admire about him through his songwriting and performances.
He’s such a polite guy, I wouldn’t want to be talking to them after such a short time of finding out something so tragic but you’d of never know by how graceful Kelly was, shows I think what a decent and natural human he is, RIP Stuart such a shame. One of the greatest rock bands of my generation and so down to earth, there’s a certain recipe to greatness and these guys have and had it in spades!
I cant believe how heartless the media people can be! This guy is obviously gonna be in bits about his friend! He is alot more compose than i'd be, fair play to him!
Really makes me want to listen to Mr Writer on repeat because my god the media are ruthless. Let the poor man grieve. I know I’m saying this 13 years too late but still
from the same town as me, my grandmother and his mother, Mable, are good friends... met him a few times, one of the most extravagant people i've ever met
I met Mabel cable when I was working on the house next door around 2012 I think, it was summer time and I had my top off and she said I had a nice body ,🤣🤣🤣
Watching this 13 1/2 years later…..same as my daughters age. I know this as Stuart died the day she was born. In fact whilst my wife was pregnant we met Kelly Jones at an album signing and watched them play at the castle in 2009.
tribute to Kel being so composed... What a horrible day, lost two people closest to him. Media are skum, but if they weren't there we wouldn't know how nice this guy is i guess... Horrible thing to have to go through though, sorry bud!
Was quite shocked really. I am a fan and I visit the Stereophonics site everyday. And to see Stuart Cable's picture with the heading 'In Loving Memory' was really weird. RIP Stuart, you will be greatly missed!
As someone who lost two best friends and long term band members in the weirdest, most screwed up way imaginable, i can imagine the multitude of feelings running through his mind, especially as they were famous, that's a whole different set of problems etc. Terrible timing on the reporters part, let him make his statement and go on his way, not the time to be hashing up the band's break up. At least he enjoyed his life to max rather than reaching 90 working in the local pound shop.
Very sad news he was a gentle giant, I was lucky enough to meet him when the phonics played liverpool and party with him after the gig, one of them people once you meet you never forget. R. I.P Stuart
Still a hard watch. You can see how broken this guy is, why do the public or media need his feelings on the matter. Grief is a private thing. Heartbroken he’s still gave that interview, I’d of shoved the mic where the sun don’t shine. Good on you Kelly ❤
people on about Kelly holding it together after Stuarts death, I saw him play Newcastle the night after his grand mother died and he sang Handbags & Gladrags acoustically and was awesome, that took some guts to even go onstage, but that's the kind of fella he is. IP Stuart.
Why, just why did the reporters feel they had to.... more, had a right to, approach a guy as he gets ready to Bury his uncle. To ask him personal questions about his relationship with his friend on the day he had just found out he had passed away. Paparazzi are brutal, you can tell that all they wanted to do was to see him fall apart on camera. Just unnecessary and in my opinion unforgivable. Good on Kelly not to have allowed them that privilege. Professional to throughout. Even at such a hard time.
Dear God.....this guy is gorgeous....what is it with some rock stars? i'm American.....so London is like a Paradise to me. the Brits are so much more attractive. i've never heard of the band but i need to listen.
Just praying on his vulnerability, shock and sadness plus the advantage that they seem to be the ones gaining the scoop.. he handles it perfectly under the circs with decorum and professionalism
That is my old account and I can say for definite that I weren’t lying, he’s my mother’s cousin so he’s my distant cousin, I’m from the same village as him and I’ve gone to a few gigs as a vip member because of family
They weren't too pushy but they were there to do "their job" alright. Having said that, if we don't want cameras put in peoples faces at times like this, we should stop watching. Kelly is well used to the press though at this stage and if he didn't want to say anything, he wouldn't have.
