This was the first one I actually liked beginning to end. But the note board section was lame, and the laptop mic really shreds the viewing experience, like bad karaoke.

What I've noticed about Slater all these years is that he's copied Tom Currens examples...Tomo boards, 5'7" channel bottom fish at 15ft Indo in 1992, Quad board at Jefferey's bay in 1992, shaved head in the early 90's and the list goes on.
Hopefully JJ will be charging 100% at Pipe. Would also be nice to see JOB as a Wildcard. Kinda hard to say you beat the best if you don't beat Jamie at Pipe.

@@dan7497 IMO Surf and skate culture is so close compared to anything else - if you're one of the most popular & biggest skaters from Brazil and the "thrasher mag" of surfing doesn't even recognize you (which I'm sure they're trolling), I'm sure it hurts a little. Especially when you're with Medina..
I could guarantee you that on my best of days and waves that are perfect I can stand AND get barrelled when I was 160lbs on a 50-60 inch surfboard kelly could push me on one if he wants too, Im not even paddling, just align it to body surf it, on the peak trough stand on that curve get accelleration mid way to that face or probably stand super fast at the bottom like indy grab stomp it grabbing it,, stand and stick the rail while standing in one sudden motion stand while letting go of the rail and lift the back knee up barely back foot all gummy, front foot end of rocker probably like out of the rocker, TRUST ME, Ive ridden fat 5 footers lmfao. Like 7 years ago I rode the smallest board of my life. I haven't been out in the water for the longest time. Lol. I think think the board was on my mother like 4 feet 6 inches. BELOW my head, and my head is 5 foot 7 inches lol. Im so fucking fat right now. FAT like lots of money fat. Im fat fat fat. Lol. Probably my gut will have excess flesh but I dont care lol. All jiggly the board I rode such a long time ago was probably for a baby. I rode that shit like a man at night boardwalk lit the beach while people were at the beach with sparklers sitting on a blanket drinking wine on acid LSD eating genoa salami crackers cheese and starting to really feel it, laced sugar cubes. Some stood and witnessed their own demons on their own like they left everything behind and started walking places starting to feel it, But then we all got back in the car and left. The owner was SO fucking salty having to record me on his go pro with his little surfboard I rode that shit all the way in. The whole fucking wave to the beach at night, pitch black I couldnt even see the wave itself, tried to go left but ended going right. the whole line, plus a bend to the rocks jetty straight to shore. That board was like 4ft 7 inches or less.
The Wolf pack at pipe is for the locals, yet the name of their group is an Animal that does not come from hawaii, irony... supposedly Jamie O is one of the best a pipe, and he is Born in Australia, and JJF who is one of the best out there supposedly, just engaged to an Aussie chick, total babe but obviously he is looking for the Aussie Passport... AT that Haleiwa event the other day Kelly looked crap on that tiny board no drive no power flow he is just a show off. Look at Ethan Ewing or the others standout who had pure speed and power. Kelly is selfish and a show off interrupting the young guys trying to make the tour.
I have so much respect for Kelly. He's always pushing towards keeping surfing fun even in competition. His love and passion for his sport is truly inspiring.
Miniature surfboard "theory" lmao. Be a scientist and paddle out with one. You'd be surprised what you can do on a small board with the right outline and fins. Been riding a 5'3 nonstop for over a year.
I started making my own boards over the last 2 years. I'm 54. 4 weeks ago I completed a board simular to the cymatic. It has my own take on it. 5'4, Kelly is right it want some size & push. I can't wait to surf it at supers jbay. I'm loving this board.
Kai Lenny was ripping HUGE Jaws (30-40’ waves) last year on a tiny tow board...so why not North Shore (6-10’ waves)wave with Kelly’s board. Kai’s tow board & Kelly’s board are most likely similar size. How about investigating this Stab? Give Kelly the wild card into sunset!! He was ripping in the last Hawaiian Van’s contest last week. Lets see what he can do!
Take aways, Tudor needs his own series, Slater needs his own series of comps and Styrder needs to pull back from WSL and have alternative commentary where he swears.
I actually drafted a board several years ago that basically allowed the tail pad and the nose pad to do just what Kelly was suggesting. The thought in mind, would be that you could engage fins on the tail and nose and disengage them depending on which way your board was facing. And you could even disengage both to suddenly go into no fin mode while you are on the wave if you wanted.
