Well, he could’ve straightened out and yielded the wave- I’m sure Kelly has the ability to maneuver a high line around him. That’s likely what I would’ve done, reckon. But we also don’t what really happened here. Maybe Kelly knows this guy and it was planned, or knows him and it just happened in a spur of the moment good fun type setting, or maybe Kelly yelled to him as it happened and said “don’t worry all good, party wave- Let’s get barreled!” or something to that effect. 🤷‍♂️

For real, Kelly is a pleasure to be in the ocean with. Always has a "hello" for everybody. Never seen him in a bad mood or ever be arrogant. Nice dude all the way.

I was surfing a secret spot once and Kelly Slater was out there. Kelly was riding a wave, and there was a completely unmakeable section that was about 50 feet long. I was about to drop in and then thought better of it. Kelly ended up doing a huge floater over the section going faster than I’ve ever seen anyone go, the bottom of his board just a few feet from my face. I was so glad I didn’t drop in. I would have never lived down the shame.

And thats why hes the 🐐 All these new comers have a mouth and a half

I grew up on Gulf Coast but went over to surf Sebastian whenever we could. Monster Hole too.....just me and a friend out there once, after we had just returned from 2.5 months in El Salvador we were 17) and were looking for something big....creepy out there!

It looks like the local is praising Kelly as well as saying his sorry and double thanking Kelly for being cool as shit and not going off on him as well as tag teaming that wave together as that was a moment he will never forget on the save wave and same Barrell as the true GOAT of surfing. He is prolly mad he didn't have his GoPro out with him but maybe he will find this guy that has the footage so he doesn't have to convince his kids he wasn't lying when he pulled in and got pitted with the GOAT himself. So cool and legendary of Kelly to give the man his moment so that he could cherish it some and enjoy it while it lasted only a few seconds more.
