We have been spoiled watching Kelly in Tahiti all these years… only now that he is exiting, seeing him surf against far younger competition can I appreciate his true mastery and feel of this wave.
its because it wasnt that big of a wave for that days standards. obviously a massive wave but when you compare it to gabes 10 and 9.83 it was a smaller wave. an extremely deep barrel though. i was not excpecting him to come out, he was way behind the foam ball.
In morocco we the best waves the good conditions . But sadly we dont have good surfers to representing our country . Except Ramzi and brahim iddouch ( bodyboarder) . Really Sad 😢
If he only kept pushing for the impossible ones rather than getting comfortable with some beautiful bombs,he would have not been left scratching with only a minute.. Bloodthirsty Moroccan push gets it, Kelly was not that amped and you could see it in his choice of waves ( plus if he makes it out on that one he gets his ten)

nice wave by ramsey, if Kelly had stayed in that one big barrel that would have been even more wild I think. looked like a lot bigger of a wave. sick surfing, wave so nice
I grew up in Jax - saw Ms. Zamba surf in Flagler. Kelly and Sean were good dudes. I think Kelly is probably the most complete athlete I’ve ever known. What a career. He’s just the sweetest man - we’ve been blessed by the surf gods to have watched him all these great years. Peace!
